WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says overhauling the nation´s immigration system can provide a big boost to the economic recovery. In his weekly Internet and radio address, Obama cites former President George W. Bush´s support for a comprehensive solution on immigration. He says if Democrats and Republicans can agree on something, it´s a good place to start. The Senate has already passed a bipartisan bill. Obama says now the House must act. He says Americans should use email and Facebook and phone calls to tell their representatives to take action.
Comments: Yeah, right....importing even more unskilled illiterate peoples from the third world will get things going real quick there Barry...I´m sure of it... Just like 0bamacare, the Stimulus, Green Jobs and dismantling our capacity to turn our natural resources in to cheap, clean energy... Yeah, right Barry.. Another day, another insult to America.
I´ve sent an email and called my representative. I told his office that if the republican held congress passes any form of immigration amnesty, we will attempt to recall him. I´m sure the local Dems will sign up for that, and if he intends on running again in 2014, does he want to spend the first six months of an election year fighting off a recall?
What percentage of these immigrants would be in the group in our country that actually pays taxes? They will be a drain on everything...benefiting the Elite Right with cheap labor and Elite Left with more ´lo-info´ voters.
ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAWS!!!!
I cannot believe that FedEx and UPS and even the US Postal Service for that matter can track hundreds of millions of packages in real time, and we can´t find illegals who´ve overstayed their visas. The Elites on both sides do not want to solve the problem and the ´non-elites´ (ordinary folks and their kids and their grandkids)get stuck holding the bag. Throw them all out!
Listening to Larry Kudlow right now makes me want to scream. His go-along-to-get-along-obama-is-a-great-dad=person-etc. nullifies anything else that comes out of his mouth. He says the economy may be picking up, or maybe not. What a joke he is becoming!!! He so wants to be a pessimism free zone. Jerk.
The "overhaul" we´re being peddled looks a lot like an old car we junked as worse than useless decades ago, with a different set of hubcaps and a crappy new paint job.
The Bracero system was hailed as a solution to the injustices of illegal immigration and a protection of migrant workers ... until it was scrapped as an affront to decency that actually served to worsen the abuse of workers. And the American people reluctantly agreed to a third amnesty during the ´80s after being solemnly assured it would be "the last amnesty".
AP (Always Pathetic) neglects, yet again, to do even basic investigation into the origins and effects of this "overhaul". And Obama, yet again, is egregious in his duplicitous "leadership". The Left´s siege on American liberty and sovereignty continues, unabated.
Exhaustive, objective studies in California have exploded that myth of a net positive impact of illegal immigration. It is unequivocally a net negative impact when all cost factors are accurately assessed.
They are never going to create enough jobs to employ the about 46 million new foreign workers and their foreign family members, most of them poor and unskilled, that the liberal Democrat amnesty and immigration reform bill would either legalize or allow into the USA with complete access to the legal US job market in the next ten years. By flooding the legal US job market like that with cheap foreign labor, wages will be held down, and it is likely that once all those foreign workers can legally compete with American workers for just about any scarce job out there across the US economy, that a lot of US employers will opt to hire cheaper foreign labor rather then higher cost American workers who are always trying to maintain their customary US standard of living. That is just common sense, and certainly contradicts the economic political fool´s gold that Obama has been pushing.
Zero creep is just so full of it...the man needs to be tossed out of office because of the rubbish that he is spouting. He is not upholding the Constitution nor defending it. Ergo....but what was I thinking? Zero uses the Constitution as toilette paper!
When Uncle Ben Bernanke prints a kazillion Bamabucks every month......who is the "First Spender" ??????
It sure ain´t me.
When the stock market bubble bursts will we all say: "Wow....I didn´t see that coming." ?
It would be more fair and helpful and not any sillier to just dump Benjamines out of aircraft and let the serfs scramble for them rather than to continue to back-door them into the stock & bond markets.
It is now completely clear that Obama has zero understanding of economics or business. How does adding to the rolls of Americans to be create additional products or services, which when monitized add to GDP? Long term, increasing the number of H1B visas could help increase the number of entrepeneurs and American tech workers, but folks, this is long term...years out.
Besides, no one beyond the Democrat suckups believes anything he says anyway..
Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC News on Monday that he places Nelson Mandela alongside Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa as exemplars of inspiration and moral virtue in world history. In an interview with Brian Williams from Johannesburg, the 39th president said that Mandela belongs among figures to be looked upon “with a great deal of admiration.” “They weathered very difficult times, they came through with flying colors, they inspired other people,” Carter said. “I think that Nelson would go down in history as one of the leading people of the century.” Carter is in South Africa to attend a
Just in time for Christmas, a St. Louis company is promoting a coloring and activity book for kids about Sen. Ted Cruz. For $4.99, parents can order U.S. Senator "Ted" Cruz to the Future — which the Really Big Coloring Books company says is an "educational tool" to be used in schools. "He is a positive role model worthy of study in any school," says the promotional material for the coloring book. "All information is fact-based, evidenced in truth and is made available to the public." RBCB founder Wayne Bell touts the book in a YouTube video. The book includes biographical information on Cruz,
Despite being one of the bluest states in the country and one of the first to implement state based Obamacare exchanges, doctors in California are boycotting Obamacare...a whopping 70 percent of them. An estimated seven out of every 10 physicians in deep-blue California are rebelling against the state´s Obamacare health insurance exchange and won´t participate, the head of the state´s largest medical association said. “It doesn´t surprise me that there´s a high rate of nonparticipation,” said Dr. Richard Thorp, president of the California Medical Association. Thorp has been a primary care doctor for 38 years in a small town 90 miles north of
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
“In 2003, Iran made an offer to the Bush administration that they would, in fact, do major things with respect to their [nuclear] program; they had 164 centrifuges. Nobody took that [deal] — nothing has happened.” – Secretary of State John F. Kerry, in an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Nov. 24, 2013 In making the case for the administration’s interim agreement with Iran on its nuclear program, Secretary Kerry has argued that it is important to make progress on rolling back Tehran’s nuclear program or else Iran will continue to stockpile nuclear material that may one day be used in a
The funeral service of Nelson Mandela could be a "trap" for Iranian President Hassan Rouhani because he could run into US President Barack Obama, a hardline Iranian daily warned Sunday.(snip)Hardline newspaper Kayhan warned in an editorial that if Rouhani attends it could bring him face to face with Obama, "head of the Great Satan government". "Some domestic and foreign media outlets are using the funeral ceremony as a pretext to push Rouhani towards a meeting with the head of the Great Satan government," Kayhan said. Rouhani, a moderate, defeated a pool of conservatives in a June presidential election after vowing to engage
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un’s uncle — once considered the second-in-charge in the closed country and a key figure in his nephew’s rise to power — was dragged by police from a political meeting, the state-run media reported Monday. The state-run media outlet KCNA said the uncle, Jang Song Thaek, had “led a dissolute and depraved life” and had been dismissed from his political position because of corruption, womanizing and taking illegal drugs, NBC reported. “Jang and his followers committed criminal acts baffling imagination, and they did tremendous harm to our party and revolution,” KCNA reported, after the meeting of the Workers´
Elton John used his sold-out show in Moscow on Friday night as an opportunity to criticize Russia’s controversial laws banning the “propaganda of homosexuality” to minors. “You’ve always embraced me and you have never judged me,” he said in reference to a long line of visits to Moscow, Agence France-Presse reported. “I am deeply saddened and shocked over the current legislation that is now in place against the (homosexual) community here in Russia,” he said. “In my opinion, it is inhumane and it is isolating. Harmony is what makes a happy family and a strong society.” Mr. John refrained from criticizing Russian President
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
A waitress, who last month said she was left an anti-gay note instead of a tip, will no longer have a job at the Bridgewater establishment where she served, the restaurant announced Saturday night. Gallop Asian Bistro, in Bridgewater, wrote on its Facebook page Saturday night that the results of its investigation into the allegations made by Dayna Morales — and those made against her — were inconclusive, and has come to an agreement with the waitress that she would no longer work at the restaurant. "The Gallop Asian Bistro has taken seriously the allegations made by Ms. Dayna Morales, and those
WASHINGTON -- The Affordable Care Act is a "war on women" that denies mothers the ability to make choices for their families, U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, R-N.C., said Saturday. The ACA, beginning Aug. 12, 2012, requires insurance plans to provide new preventive benefits including contraceptives, breastfeeding supplies and gestational diabetes screening for pregnant women, prenatal care, routine breast and pelvic exams and pap tests used to detect potentially precancerous and cancerous processes in the cervix. Delivering the GOP´s weekly address, Ellmers called on President Barack Obama to get rid of the law or at least delay its implementation. Ellmers, a nurse and mother
In South Carolina, the American flag that flies over the Pickens County Sheriff´s Office will be raised high over the weekend despite an order by President Obama that flags be lowered to half-staff to honor the death of iconic South African leader Nelson Mandela. Sheriff Rick Clark told GreenvilleOnline.com that he is ordering the flag be raised on Sunday because the honor of lowering flags to half-staff should be reserved for Americans. "The flag at half-staff is for Americans´ ultimate sacrifice for our country," Clark said. "We should never stray away from that." The flag is currently flying at half-staff in honor of
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
Chris Matthews is crazy. Nevertheless, when left-wingers talk openly with one another, their craziness can be revealing. That is the case, I think, with this remarkable MSNBC clip. Matthews, fresh from his kneepad interview with President Obama, praises what he terms a uniquely brilliant insight by Al Sharpton: South Africa’s white politicians of the apartheid era were more patriotic than today’s Republicans: I haven’t heard anything as smart as what I heard Reverend Sharpton say a moment go in five years. The difference between the way F.W. de Klerk handled the need for change and the election – democratic election
