Obama: The immigration law
is all good, trust me

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Hi, everybody. Two weeks ago, a large bipartisan majority of Senators voted to pass commonsense, comprehensive immigration reform — taking an important step towards fixing our broken immigration system once and for all. This bill was a compromise, and neither side got everything they wanted. But it was largely consistent with the key principles of commonsense reform that most of us in both parties have repeatedly laid out. If passed, the Senate’s plan would build on the historic gains we’ve made in border security.

Obama´s account at the trust bank not only ran out years ago, the account is closed, the bank door locked, and the key thrown into the deepest ocean.

The only thing decent I have seen proof of you doing in your presidency is to hang a nice set of curtains. That sir, is beyond pathetic.

Flooding the legal US job market in the next ten years with an estimated 46 million new foreign workers and their foreign family members, or cheap foreign labor, depending how you describe it, is not going to help the US workers, who are going to have to compete against those foreign workers for just about every scarce job out there across the entire US economy. In fact it will drive down the wages in a lot of industries that never hired foreign workers in the past.

For the most part aliens who come here and start new small businesses mirroring what they did in their home countries, in most cases does not help American businesses or workers as those newly created alien owned and managed businesses usually hire their workforces from among the population group consisting of other aliens who have come here from the business owner´s home country. Those foreign owned businesses usually pay less and have less job related benefits then then competing American owned businesses, and therefor are usually in a position where they have less overhead then American owned businesses allowing them to seriously undercut American businesses on the factor of cost.

House Republicans should counter with adding 11 million new immigrants from places India, Russia, China, Australia and other counties.

In other words, not just low-end, low-skilled workers but high-end, educated workers.

And then make sure the current illegal group realizes Republicans want them to do well, and prosper while the Democrats are hoping the opposite.

There´s a huge opportunity for Republicans to make massive in-roads into both Black and Hispanic groups. Doing it right, doing it legally and respectfully.
After all, the typical immigrant class usually has Mexican as #1, so it can be done legally. And that´s the message GOP needs to take, IMO.

Besides, most might not realize but breaking our immigration law is about the equivalent as a speeding ticket. It´s an infraction not a misdemeanor or a felony.

I’m Senator Lamar Alexander. Have you ever read something so obviously right that it made you wish you’d written it? That happened to me the other day reading Newt Gingrich’s book ‘Breakout.’ Newt was quoting technology expert Tim O’Reilly, who was talking about the way the government should operate in the internet age. O’Reilly was saying this: “The best way for government to operate is to figure out what kinds of things are enablers of society and then make investments in those things. Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Hate to break the news to you, but our old pal Archie Andrews is doomed. After 73 years of not looking a day over 17, the long-running all-American symbol of wholesomeness and teen goodness is set to die in July, according to Archie Comics. He´ll go out good, saving someone. Which is swell. But is this really necessary in a soiled age of cynicism, non-heroes and non-role models, lying leaders and downright criminals? It's already hard enough being a parent with all the unwholesome temptations at hand. Must we inevitably give up every enduring symbol of hope and good and fun for a one-month publicity splash?

There was plenty of talk in Washington this week about equal pay. The thing is — it was just that: more talk. As a woman who worked at McDonald’s to get through college…. as the mom of two young daughters … and as the elected representative of thousands of hardworking women, I have always supported equal pay for equal work. And if a woman is being paid less than a man because of gender discrimination, that is both wrong and against the law. The protections provided to women and others in the Equal Pay Act must be enforced to make certain there is no pay disparity because of discrimination.

Hi, everybody. Earlier this week was Equal Pay Day. It marks the extra time the average woman has to work into a new year to earn what a man earned the year before. You see, the average woman who works full-time in America earns less than a man — even when she’s in the same profession and has the same education. That´s wrong. In 2014, it’s an embarrassment. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. This is an economic issue that affects all of us. Women make up about half our workforce. And more and more, they’re our families’ main breadwinners. So it’s good for everyone when women are paid fairly.

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey.
