Obama’s Rule by Decree
National Review, by Andrew McCarthy

Original Article

Posted By:FlyRight, 7/13/2013 7:33:09 AM

Barack Obama has never been clear on the distinction between sovereign and servant, between the American people and those, including himself, elected to do the people’s business. We saw that yet again this week with the president’s unilateral rewrite of the Bataan Death March known as the Affordable Care Act — Obamacare. For this president, laws are not binding expressions of the popular will, but trifling recommendations to be ignored when expedient. The collapse of law — not just Obamacare but law in general — is the Obama administration’s most egregious scandal.

This is how Chavez started, same technique. Appoint ideological people to key post, people will implement whatever the "leader" wants regardless of the law.
Attack attack attack your opposition relentlessly.
Have shock troops that will demonstrate while threatening violence in support of your positions.
And the perfect storm, have a media that will cover for you. Here in the US the media position was already in harmony with the idelogy of the "leader" but Chavez had to work a little harder in Venezuela he had to threaten a number of owner of TV stations into "neutrality" or a "apolitical" positions, he also had to refuse to renew the license RCTV in 2008 putting them out of business. Here is the US this whole framework is essentially already in place.
Scary scary. For people that say it can´t happen here to have a contemporary example less than 1000 miles from Miami.

Yep, the last sentence is the bottom line, we are living under a dictatorship. 40 some percent of the American population have no clue we are living under the tyranny of a dictatorship and that is frightening.

There are plenty of "egregious" scandals with this administration and the collapse of law ranks high, but Obama´s eligibility fraud is a close contender. America has a glimmer of it´s founding greatness, but Obama is doing all he can to destroy our fair country in what time he has left.

All of this while Congress sits on their hands and fails to do what´s best for their constituents. It´s all a tragedy with unprecedented consequence.

Thinking ahead to better times, I hope a new Conservative, Republican POTUS considers Andy McCarthy for AG.

I do wish, though, that Andy would have started out this article on the second page with the following paragraph and then supported it with the rest of the article.

Under Obama, however, massive laws are enacted — such that no one can conceivably know what the law is. Then the president enforces the parts he approves of, contemptuously disregards the parts that enticed naysayers into compromising, and presumes to amend or repeal inconvenient provisions at his whim.

That is not the rule of law. It is how a dictatorship works.

Remember that it was reported that Obama´s friend Bill Ayers advocated killing up to 25 million Americans in re-education camps. Could it be that re-education camp is now Obamacare and that it will be their vehicle for power, control and thinning the herd?

"what is going to happen to those people we can´t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?" And the reply was that they´d have to be eliminated."

Could it be that they´ve have simply found a more elegant way to eliminate people and then blame it on a whole host of innocent sounding reasons? Put in those terms it really isn´t much different than a Bataan death march except we´re riding in an air-conditioned bus with lots of flashy chrome and a really nice paint job!

I think McCarthy needed to turn his brain on when electing to compare Obiecare to the Bataan Death March. My father was in the battle of the bulge in Belgium during WWII and would have cursed McCarthy severely for drawing such a comparison. Pointing out Obie´s rule by decree is appropriate, but McCarthy poisoned his own article by this approach.

Excellent article, however I agree that the comparison with the Bataan Death March was very misplaced. McCarthy need to read "Tears in the Darkness" if he thinks otherwise.

Nonetheless, it sums up the lawlessness of this Administration quite well.

First, ditto #2.

Second, the House must impeach this president. Don’t tell me that it would be foolish to do so because the Senate won’t convict. That is none of the House’s business. Its job is to do its constitutional duty and leave the Senate to do (or not do) its business. If the Senate does not convict, then it will be judged by history for that. The House, on the other hand, is going to be judged by history for not impeaching a clearly lawless president.

In 2008, after looking into Obama´s background, I came to the conclusion that he studied law only to learn how to game the system. He´s a street hustler. He operates in gray areas where there is questionable legal authority. His egregious use of the Executive Order is an example. He is no better than his fellow street hustlers who became Reverends to also game the system.

The Left always always always (did I mention always?) wants dictatorial powers and will do anything to achieve them. There are no exceptions anywhere in history. The totalitarian impulse IS the Left. For any American voter to supposedly believe Barack Obama would be any different in this respect than 100% of the Leftist totalitarians that preceded him is just idiotic beyond belief.

When Woody Allen said some years ago that he wished Obama could be a dictator, that was one of the truest expressions of utter honesty from a Democrat we´ve ever heard. Thing is, they all wish it.

It´s not news that Obama´s a problem. The news is that he has no opposition. The GOP only exists today to prevent the Tea Party and conservatives from having a voice. They man their battle stations on Fox News to make sure good new people are marginalized. Rupert Murdoch puts Karl Rove front and center because Rove makes sure democrats win. The GOP owes Obama big time because he helped them defeat the Tea Party in 2012. Obama saved Boehner´s life.

Exactly. We have a dictatorship. While Congressional Republicans are working in good faith and with the naïve assumption that what they do still matters, Obama has stolen their role as a separate and EQUAL branch of government.

We have a Dictator. What O is doing is illegal and unconstitutional. And what is his Party or ours doing about it?

Pardon a second post - I had not read the comments before writing mine @#8. In praising Andy McCarthy I wasn´t trying to trivialize or to minimize the Bataan Death March, and I don´t think McCarthy was either. I think McCarthy was projecting what Obama´s actions could lead to if carried out to the fullest extent. I doubt that the atrocities carried out by the Japanese on the long, Bataan march will be duplicated by the Obama regime, but at the rate they are moving against Americans, one never knows where this incompetent wanta-to-be dictator in our WH will take us.

Who is going to rescue us? Where are the Churchills, the Douglas MacArthurs, the William Halseys, the Dwight Eisenhowers? The top generals and admirals in the Pentagon now seem to be afraid of their shadows - they aren´t going to cross Obama because they probably have too much at stake personally to risk losing their style of living and their hopes for retirement. Don´t most of us?

Thanks to so many who sacrificed for this country in WWII - that service can never be repaid. The most important thing we can do as Americans is to insure that they did not sacrifice in vain.

A prominent Democrat Congresswoman said that "we know who our enemies are". She sounded like Hitler. If you are not sure if the Battan Death March was worse than Obamacare please consider the Obamacare "death panels". These panels will be staffed by Democrats who will favor voters who voted for Barry. Old, tired, sick , conservative Battan Death March veterans who voted for Romney will be told to shut up and watch Lucy re-re-runs on television. To deny medical care to veterans because they are conservatives is an outrage.

However, I agree with several of the previous posters, who wrote that Mr. McCarthy was way out of line to invoke, in any way, the memory of the terrible Bataan Death March with the "Chosen One."

I remember when my late father (who had been a infantryman with the Texas Division during World War II) once introduced me to a boyhood friend of his, who as a young soldier, had been a prisoner in the Phillipines during the war. I never forgot the horror stories that that man related to my father and me. Mr. McCarthy SHOULD have known better.

Each day when I read about the decline of our country, I become increasingly angry at a do nothing Congress who seem to think they were elected to increase their own wealth instead of represent We the People and the Constitution as it stands. How insulting.

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

FORT WORTH — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will undergo neck surgery today, her campaign said Tuesday. “After experiencing shoulder and right arm pain in recent weeks, Sen. Davis will have a routine surgical procedure to remove bone spurs and degenerative discs that are creating compression on the nerves in her neck,” campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas said in a statement Tuesday. “This is a common issue experienced by runners and endurance athletes,” he said. Davis, of Fort Worth, will undergo the outpatient surgery at the Fort Worth Brain and Spine Institute. Dr. Thomas Ellis will perform the

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already
