Repackaged, But Not Redeemed
American Spectator, by Marta S. Mossburg

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 7/13/2013 5:41:07 AM

“His redemption is your redemption.” That is the Daily Beast’s spot-on satirical assessment of Anthony Weiner’s campaign ad for New York City Mayor. But it also is the message of both Eliot Spitzer and Mark Sanford, two other adulterers trying to revive their political careers by peddling that their rehabilitation will lead to ours. Spitzer resigned his post as Governor of New York in 2008 after the New York Times revealed he was a client of a high-end prostitution business. Sanford is the former Republican South Carolina governor who in 2009 went missing for six days

It´s a real stretch putting Sanford in the same category as these two perverts.

I agree #1. Weiner and Spitzer are perverts in the European mold. Sanford is a good old all-American cheater. No comparison.

Another good reason not to put Sanford back in office. Makes out that Republicans are hypocrites because Sanford was elected. Gives tons of cover to Dem perverts. Never will understand SC politics. On one hand they give us DeMint and then give us Graham..and give us Graham again..then Sanford. Tim Scott is a good one and Haley is ok in my book. But Sanford. I know there are better men and women in SC. Hope he is just a one term wonder.

All of New York has a problem if they elect these two perverts. South Carolina could do better. Sanford is not only a liar (remember he was out hiking into the unknowns) but a down home adulterer. People deserve better than recycled, rehabilitated political has beens.
Think twice NY and SC could do better.

The pre-show red carpet fandango on E! and ABC had everything the Oscar watcher could wish for: bad dresses to b***h about, presenters mouthing a stream of relentless vapidity, and Liza Minnelli stalking everything like a cobalt blue shark It is just after 8pm. I do not know what will happen next, but I do know Liza Minnelli is at the Oscars ceremony doing something in cobalt blue, an equally livid streak in her hair, making my heart race. And she´s walking, head bobbing, with an odd kinetic purpose, behind other people´s camera shots. Is anyone with Liza? Accompanying her? Her

As a television event, this year´s Oscars was more like an endurance test -- turgid, badly directed, poorly produced and featuring an endless string of tired or wince-inducing moments from host Ellen DeGeneres. Since this year everybody seemed to predict the exact same Oscar winners, ruining office pools and Oscar parties across the country, you might think there would be no surprises at the 86th annual Academy Awards.(Snip)Of course there were good moments as well. Jared Leto´s speech was tremendous, as was the warm glow that came over the proceedings when Lupita Nyong´o won and then spoke so beautifully about

Of course Kerry Kennedy was acquitted. How many times have you read the headline: “Ethel Kennedy Appears in Court for (fill in the name of this month’s family defendant)?” A couple of days later the inevitable follow-up headline appears: “Kennedy Acquitted.” After the jury found her not guilty Friday on drugged-driving charges in Westchester County, N.Y., Kerry Kennedy said, “I’m just very, very, very grateful that justice was done.” And she should know something about justice, because she runs the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. She’s a “human rights advocate.” Nice work if you can get it. Kerry is one of

Unfortunately, happy couples and abusive couples happen to look a lot alike. The trial for Oscar Pistorius, the South African Olympic sprinter who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, begins on Monday. Pistorius shot Steenkamp through the door while she was in the bathroom. Prosecutors say that he did it on purpose, suggesting that Steenkamp was hiding in the bathroom during a lovers’ tiff. Pistorius claims that he thought an intruder had broken into the house and he

New York -- A Brooklyn man who registered domain names related to real estate mogul Donald Trump must pay $32,000 damages, a judge ruled Friday. J. Taikwok Yung, a self-described "domainer" developed four websites -- trumpmumbai.com, trumpindia.com, trumpbeijing.com, and trumpbudhabi.com -- parodying the well-known businessman and providing commentary, often disparaging, on Trump and his television shows "The Apprentice" and "The Celebrity Apprentice." Attorneys representing Trump filed a countersuit against Yung, 34, at the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn in March 2013, seeking damages for "federal cybersquatting." WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, strongly disagree over what´s at stake in the Ukraine crisis. Those differing views were made clear in a 90-minute phone call and could make it difficult to find a resolution to the crisis in Ukraine. In the Saturday call, Obama called Russia´s actions "a clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty" and called for Russia to pull its forces back to bases in Ukraine´s Crimean region and de-escalate tensions. President Putin responded that the turmoil in Ukraine posed real threats to the life and health of Russian citizens living in

They say the French are the world’s greatest lovers—all the more reason to be concerned over a new study showing a declining quality in the country’s swimmers. It’s long been a stereotype that French men are naturally gifted lovers, but the cliché—like the country’s male population—may be losing its potency. The same researchers behind an alarming 2012 study on the decline of the average Frenchman’s sperm have now focused their attention on the geographic regions where swimmer concentration is particularly low—and found pesticides may be at the root of the problem. Myles was just five-weeks-old when his father, Army Sgt. Andy Eckert was killed in Iraq. In honor of his dad´s memory, the Ohio boy wrapped the money in a touching handwritten note and handed it to Lt. Col. Frank Dailey who was eating lunch at the restaurant: ´Dear Soldier - my dad was a soldier. He's in heaven now. I found this 20 dollars in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It's your lucky day! Thank you for your service.

As John noted below, President Obama spent an hour and a half on the telephone with Vladimir Putin discussing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. What was the conversation like? We can probably get a good sense of it by considering the account of President Bush’s conversations with Putin set forth by Peter Baker in his excellent book about the Bush presidency, Days of Fire. It’s well known that Bush and Putin got on well at first. But when the relationship soured, Bush became exasperated by his talks with the Russian bully. Putin seemed to delight in debating Bush. FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

The statement was made as Russian forces — including attack helicopters — appeared in peripheral parts of the Ukraine that are largely populated by ethnic Russians. There’s no evidence that Obama wants to get involved in what may become a war between the Ukraine and Russia. He did not threaten any significant retaliation if Russian force attack nor did he offer military aid to the Ukraine. He announced that Vice President Joe Biden — but not

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have

Public school systems from Dallas to Philadelphia canceled Monday classes. Washington city offices and Delaware state government offices will be closed Monday.
