Morsy ouster brings $8 billion
aid package to Egypt

Reuters, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LOL Thomas, 7/11/2013 4:17:17 AM

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), apparently pleased with the ouster of the former President Mohamed Morsy, have approved $8 billion in aid to Egypt on Tuesday. The Saudi funds comprise a $2 billion central bank deposit, $2 billion in energy products, and $1 billion in cash, the Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim Alassaf told Reuters. (Snip) The rise of Mohamed Morsy´s Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt since 2011 has unsettled most Gulf Arab states, including the UAE, which feared it would embolden Islamists at home. Morsy became president a year ago in Egypt´s first freely contested election.

Comments:
The UAE tossed an additional $3 billion into the pot. Translation: The Saudis, the UAE, and reportedly Kuwait (google for that) have joined with Egypt’s army to execute a financial coup paralleling the military coup, signaling to Washington that its $1.3 billion aid package to Egypt would be impotent in the face of Egypt and the Gulf Arab states’ resolve to exterminate the Muslim Brotherhood and their fellow radicals in that region . . . despite Obama’s veiled determination to reinstate Brother Morsi.

You can´t even put into words how big a defeat for Obama this is but the media will never spin it that way. While Obama is cozying up to big Islam here at home, they´re being soundly rejected just about every where else.A lot of this could have to do with the spread of the internet and people getting a peek at the outside world.

The King of Jordan is also a big power player in the middle east and he´s very highly respected. His country being over ran with civilian refugees is a by product of the arab spring and I´ll bet he had a lot of influence on Egypt´s military action.

Well, it looks like the Gulf States have solved Obama´s coup/no coup dilemma and saved the American taxpayer $1.3 billion.

I guess that bow to the Saudi king was just another campaign promise.

Love it when the Saudis and the UAE stick their fingers in Obama´s eye. They know the Muslim Brotherhood are terrorists and corrupt and needed to be overthrown. Yet Obama was planning to send more money to prop up the criminal Morsi, before he was overthrown. The Coptic Christians are already giving thanks to the military coup. No thanks to the criminal MB supporter Barry 666 Obama.

There´s goes any chance of any US influence with the Army in Egypt - they don´t need our money. We had influence with Mubarak but Obama destroyed that. We had influence and a presence in Iraq bought by dead American servicemen and women and Obama destroyed that. We had influence in Libya under Qhaddafi, but Obama destroyed that. We could have had some influence in Iran if Obama had supported the Green Revolution, but never mind. And in the meantime, Kerry keeps bugging the Israelis about the Palestinian problem...

Egyptian army chief Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has recently intensified contact with the Russian Defense Ministry in order to expedite the completion of an arms deal. According to senior Egyptian sources that the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai quoted in a report on Wednesday, the deal with Russia includes advanced aircraft, monitoring equipment and other sophisticated weapons that would be used to fight terrorism emanating from Sinai. An Egyptian court on Sunday set Sunday for the resumption of the trial of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and 14 co-defendants for allegedly inciting the murder of demonstrators outside Cairo´s Ittihadiya presidential palace in late 2012, a judicial source said Tuesday. According to the source, the decision came one day after the same court turned down a request for the recusal of the presiding judges in the case. To the world beyond the Beltway, it might not mean much that Bob Woodward of the famed Watergate duo went public with his recent White House run-in. This would be an oversight. (Snip) Distrust of media, encouraged by alternative media seeking to enhance their own standing, has become a tool useful to the very powers the Fourth Estate was constitutionally endowed to monitor. When the president can bypass reporters to reach the public, it is not far-fetched to imagine a time — perhaps now? — when the state controls the message.

There are two stories circulating around Bob Woodward this morning. (Snip) But the White House also wanted the issue to disappear until after the election, so in conjunction with Congress it proposed (and the President specifically endorsed) an enforcement mechanism called sequestration. In exchange for agreeing to a package of $1.2T in cuts with no revenues as a failsafe, Republicans agreed to raise the debt limit high enough that it would not be reached until after the election. The significant point is that the trigger for sequestration was not the same date as the implementation date.

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
