Pope Francis embraces the
Ordinariate – and increases
its power to evangelise

Telegraph [UK], by Damian Thompson

Original Article

Posted By:mitzi, 7/10/2013 5:17:19 PM

Opponents of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, set up by Benedict XVI to allow ex-Anglicans to worship together with their own liturgy, were so excited when it was reported that Pope Francis, when Archbishop of Buenos Aires, wasn´t keen on the initiative. But if that were ever the case, then he has changed his mind. This week it emerged that Francis has widened the remit of the Ordinariates in Britain, America and Australia. Until now, only ex-Anglicans and their family members could join the new body.

Comments:
For some unknown (?) reason, you don´t hear/see anything in the US media about former Anglicans and the Ordinariate. (usordinariate dot com for more info). The EWTN program "The Journey Home" has featured some of the former Anglican clergy.

Despite his highly influential religious office, he makes time to sit with the people, comfort the sick, and help the poor. He often forgoes traditional fancy threads and maintains a quiet, humble disposition. He is, above all things, a pastoral man. If you think we´re talking about Pope Francis, think again. His support transcends ideology. Both conservatives and liberals seem to really love him. If you were to see Cardinal Seán Patrick O´Malley walking around in his characteristic brown smock, with a small ego but a big laugh, you might not even realize that he is the single most important

From humble beginnings in the 1970s in their Oklahoma City garage, David and Barbara Green launched what is now the sprawling nationwide commercial enterprise, Hobby Lobby. Their company – now owned entirely by five members of the Green family – is now at the epicenter of an important legal battle over the breathtaking reach of the Affordable Care Act. At issue is whether – due to the Greens´ deeply held religious objections – the Hobby Lobby owners have an enforceable freedom-of-conscience right not to provide several contraceptive methods (four out of the 20 ACA-required methods) to the crafts company´s employees.

The new government in Kyiv is cracking down on officials in ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s administration. After he was ousted, the full corruption of his administration was exposed. Over 32 searches took place at all the firms and apartments connected to Stavytsky. On the day after state and federal investigators raided his State House office and home, House Speaker Gordon D. Fox has announced his intention to resign as speaker. So in the Post’s view, it is acceptable to publish articles that are both literally false (Koch is the largest tar sands leaseholder) and massively misleading (the Keystone Pipeline is all about Koch Industries), if by doing so the paper can “stir and inflame public debate in this election year?” I can’t top Jonah Goldberg’s comment on that howler: By this logic any unfair attack posing as reporting is worthwhile when people try to correct the record. Why not just have at it and accuse the Kochs of killing JFK or hiding the Malaysian airplane? The resulting criticism would once

The famous lagoon city of Venice has voted to break away from the rest of Italy. Eighty nine per cent of Venetians backed the move to create their own sovereign state in a referendum on independence. They want to create the "Repubblica Veneta", which would not only include the city of Venice but surrounding areas. Venice, which attracts tens of thousands of US tourists each year, has been part of Italy for 150 years but before that was a powerful city state, naval and commercial power. The city lost its independence after being captured by Napoleon in the late eighteenth

David E. A new poll shows Latinos -- a fast-growing and key demographic in American elections -- aren´t as fond of Obamacare as they once were. The Pew Research Center poll showed Hispanics are split on whether they approve of President Obama´s health-care law, with 47 percent approving and 47 percent disapproving. The numbers are notable because Latinos have generally been among the health-care law´s chief supporters. Other polls have shown they supported the law by a 2-to-1 margin, and a September 2013 poll, before the law´s implementation, showed 61 percent of Hispanics approved of it. She’d show up when it suited her, waiting in the dark before dawn till I came downstairs and turned on my desk lamp. Then she’d make her presence known by rising up on her hind legs and gently

That goes beyond hypocritical, and I think the American media and the international media has every right to call her and the Obama administration on that — that they permitted that to happen,” said Tom Whalen, a political history professor at Boston University. “It makes you shake your head, albeit sadly.” The first lady stopped at Peking University in Beijing yesterday
