Hot Dish Politics:
The Zen of Bachmann´s silence

Star Tribune [Minneapolis, MN], by Kevin Diaz

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/6/2013 9:01:25 PM

There’s an ancient Zen riddle about the sound of one hand clapping. Or could it be the whooshing sound of Michele Bachmann’s exit from Congress? Something happened, but we can’t hear it. There was a lawsuit, a settlement and then nothing. Neither Bachmann nor the Washington lawyers representing her 2012 presidential campaign acknowledged a thing. Then last weekend, out of the blue, Bachmann released a statement praising the “integrity” of the woman who sued her. No explanation. The folks in Minnesota whom Bachmann has represented since 2007 remain intentionally in the dark.

Comments:
I´ve wondered about Ms. Bachmann´s sudden departure from politics. This story just add more questions than answers...for now.

Mrs. Bachman´s swift removal from power is shameful. She was a conservative leader for many years, and I, an 80 year old woman, held her in very high esteem.
She was an inspiration to me and many others because she spoke the truth and carried God´s message.
It seems like once the liberals and the LSM get behind a cause, they can steamroll anyone. I pray for Mrs. Bachman´s well being, as I curse her enemies.
Sometimes it´s hard to believe I´m living in America, and that it very sad.
That said, nothing but death will keep me from voting for the Conservative cause. I still believe that we can form our own party and take back America and put it right on track.

If you think the NSA spying cannot hurt you because you´re a small fry and do nothing wrong, so what does it matter if they have all your meta data? Well, the real damage is done to those who might be so bold as to speak up against The Won on your behalf. They can easily be brought down if they do the slightest thing wrong because Obama/NSA knows all. You are being harmed by the spying indirectly.

I was not in favor of Michele´s self-promotion and ambitious behavior, but I still support her. This is a nothing article by the failed Mpls newspaper. It can be summed up like this: We never liked Michele. Since she announced her retirement we can´t think of anything else to write about her - but the fact that we can´t think of anything must mean that there IS something and therefore she is hiding something." Such a pitiful non-story. It´s like the Seinfeld episode where they spend the whole show trying to think of what they want the show to be about.

Most voters say ObamaCare will play an important role in their vote in this year’s elections, and over half are more inclined to back the candidate who opposes the health care law. That’s according to a Fox News poll released Monday. The new poll asks voters what they would do if the only difference between two congressional candidates is that one promises to fight for the health care law and the other promises to fight against it. By a 53-39 percent margin, more voters say they would back the anti-ObamaCare candidate. Independents, always a key voting bloc, would back that candidate by a 25 percentage-point margin (54-29 percent, with another

Washington - The US Supreme Court takes up a major case this week that could dramatically change how Americans watch television. The case involves a New York-based company that charges $8 a month to allow subscribers to watch broadcast television programs on their computer, tablet, or smart phone via the Internet. The company, Aereo, Inc., can keep its subscription price low in part because it pays nothing – zero – to the major broadcast companies for access to their programming. The broadcast companies aren’t happy about it. They sued Aereo, claiming the little firm is stealing their copyright-protected programming and

Trenton, N.J. - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been named a Father of the Year by the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council. The Republican governor has four children ranging from ages 10 to 20. He often talks about them in public. Christie has joked that having dinner with all of them has given him experience in being yelled at, and he has boasted about having a rare family — one without video games. Christie attracted scrutiny in 2011 when he used a state police helicopter to fly to his son Andrew’s baseball game. He repaid the cost. The other honoree so far this year is shoe designer Vince Camuto.

There’s no good way to break it to you, D.C. license holders. You’re going to have to make a trip to the DMV, all 540,000 of you. Starting May 1, the District will start issuing REAL ID licenses that conform to stringent federal regulations, the Department of Motor Vehicles announced last week. Any driver’s license issued before that date will need to be replaced by Oct. 1, to enter certain federal buildings and by 2016 to board a domestic flight (alternatively, a passport can still be used). All other licenses, permits and identification cards issued by the DMV also are affected by the new regulations.

The unanimous three-judge panel, reversing a lower court decision, said the government had waived its right to keep the analysis secret in light of numerous public statements by administration officials and the Justice Department’s release of a “white paper” offering a detailed analysis of why targeted killings were legal.

There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election.
