Brain stimulation at any age
may slow memory decline

USA Today, by Cathy Payne

It´s never too early to start protecting your brain power, a new study suggests. Reading, writing and participating in other brain-stimulating activities at any age may protect your memory later in life, according to the research. The study, which tracked 294 individuals, is published online in the July 3 issue of Neurology. (Snip)The finding supports the hypothesis of cognitive reserve, which describes the brain´s ability to cope with disease or damage.

Based on my experience with my parents as they aged and remained mentally alert, and now myself as I´m aging ... I tend to agree.

I think I might need som´a dat! I´m nearing 68 and at times there are words I can´t think of. I used to do crossword puzzles all the time but can´t now because I haven´t been to movies in years or watched TV so I don´t know the performers if they are younger than maybe 50. I just lay it to ´Mrs. Alzheimer´s´ but it´s not a laughing matter.

#3 - go to Amazon.com and buy yourself a "teach yourself" foreign language book. I´m older than you and I´m working my way through Latin ... a refresher for me. It´s been a long time.

Watch what you think about, you manifest what you focus on. If you think your memory is going bad you won´t remember things. Your mindset is very important at any age.

#3 Not knowing TV trivia is not Alzheimer´s.

Not knowing where you put your keys is not Alzheimer´s.

Forgetting what keys are for in general may be Alzheimer´s.

If you find yourself driving home on a familiar route and get completely lost then you talk to your doctor about it.

Alzheimer´s isn´t about forgetting trivia. It´s about losing track of current reality.

I´ve worked in nursing homes for 20 years. My best advice avoid Alzheimer´s is to have a reason to go on living. Work towards a goal you care about.

Being alive means that you absolutely will die. Before that happens why not try living?

Georgia-based abortionist Tyrone Cecil Malloy is headed for prison. A judge sentenced Malloy to four years in prison and six years probation on two counts of Medicaid fraud. The judge will hold a restitution hearing at a later date to determine the exact amount of restitution Dr. Malloy will be ordered to pay the Georgia Department of Community Health. RIYADH - Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday to discuss a U.S. diplomatic proposal for Ukraine, the White House said, adding that Obama told him that Russia must pull back its troops and not move deeper into Ukraine. It was believed to have been the first direct conversation between Obama and Putin since the United States and its European allies began imposing sanctions on Putin´s inner circle and threatened to penalize key sectors of Russia´s economy. Russia´s reinforcement of troops near Ukraine has brought the total forces there to as many as 40,000, U.S. officials estimated on

Charles Krauthammer said Thursday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that people can either believe President Obama’s version of what happened at his meeting with Pope Francis, or they can choose a different option offered by the Vatican. While President Obama said he avoided discussing “social schisms” during his meeting with Pope Francis, the Vatican’s official readout said discussion turned to “the exercise of the rights to religious freedom, life and conscientious objection, as well as the issue of immigration reform.” “On the one hand, you’ve got the bishop of Rome, the Holy See, of whom a billion co-religionists believe

VATICAN CITY – President Barack Obama and the Vatican gave distinctly different accounts of the president´s audience with Pope Francis on Thursday, with Obama stressing their common ground on poverty and inequality but Vatican officials emphasizing concerns over Obama´s health care law, which mandates contraception coverage. Obama described himself as "incredibly moved" by his nearly hour-long session with the popular pontiff. He said the two spent the most time discussing the plight of the poor and the marginalized as well as regions of conflict and the elusive nature of peace around the world. President Obama´s first salary as a community organizer was paid by a Catholic group and his earliest social justice work was rooted in Catholic social doctrine. He identified with Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, then Chicago´s archbishop, whose consistent ethic of life encompassed a dedication to the poor, a concern over the human costs of war, and opposition to the death penalty. You could imagine that at his meeting with Pope Francis on Thursday, the president was tempted to ask: Why can´t these American bishops get along with me? Clusters of disorganized brain cells were discovered in tissue samples from brain regions important for regulating social functioning, emotions and communication - which can all be troublesome for children with autism.(Snip)The authors said the clusters, detected with sophisticated lab tests, are likely defects that occurred during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. A long-running child custody case took a dramatic turn Tuesday, when a Massachusetts juvenile court judge awarded permanent custody of teenager Justina Pelletier to the state Department of Children and Families. The ruling by Judge Joseph Johnston means the 15-year-old will probably stay in state custody until her 18th birthday unless her parents can prove they are fit to care for their child. The judge’s four-page decision, which was provided to the Globe, was remarkable for its detail and forcefulness. Johnston faulted Connecticut’s child protection agency for its failure to get involved in a case involving a child from its state, and

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.
