Republicans want to talk to Col.
George Bristol about Benghazi

CBS News, by Sharyl Attkisson

Original Article

Marine Corps Col. George Bristol was in a key position in the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) chain of command the night of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. As such, he´s high on the list of people that some Republican members of Congress want to interview. But they don´t know where he is and the Pentagon isn´t telling. Pentagon spokesman Major Robert Firman told CBS News that the Department of Defense "cannot compel retired members to testify before Congress."

Is everybody in government these days in cahoots with this administration? Maybe we need to remind them they work for us, not Obie.

This should be interesting. Back in the ´90s, I knew George Bristol, when we were both Majors. We practiced jujitsu together at Quantico Dojo, even though, like me, he was judo before he was jujitsu. (The Army, in its infinite wisdom, sent me to play with the Marines for a couple years.)

When I knew him, George was a man of high integrity, and not a BSer (note his comment about Islam).

So...where is he, and why is the Administration hiding him?

To ensure silence, a retired senior officer can either form a security firm that is awarded a very large, no-bid TSA contract or be hired by a federal agency at a salary approaching $190,000 per year. These options would be in addition to military pension of $125,000 per year. If he qualified for a last minute disability pension, which exempts a good portion of pension from federal income taxes, we will know that his silence was bought.

If he does contact Daryl Issa to voluntarily, he will be among the "few good men" in the federal government.

Even if they get him in front of them, it´ll just be more of the same Kabuki.

Reality is, the Repubs are doing everything they can to help zippy´s team get cover. They break the law, s holds "hearings" that amount to nothing or are simply stonewalled. They get Hillary, she asks what it matters, and they roll over.

They on a daily basis violate the Constituion, and the Repubs, well, hold hearings. Clearly our congress has reached the point where even they know they have no relevancy, and now eirmonly defense to stay in power is to hold hearings.

How about you do something instead, like cutting taxes (we didn´t forget that promise you broke), cutting government spending (not slow it), defund ObamaCare (isn´t that why we gave you the House in 2010)a d stop the insane illegal immigration shtick that will cost you the House and Senate in 2014.

Defending Obamacare
National Journal, by Ron Fournier    Original Article

It´s getting difficult and slinking toward impossible to defend the Affordable Care Act. The latest blow to Democratic candidates, liberal activists, and naïve columnists like me came Monday from the White House, which announced yet another delay in the Obamacare implementation. For the second time in a year, certain businesses were given more time before being forced to offer health insurance to most of their full-time workers. Employers with 50 to 99 workers were given until 2016 to comply, two years longer than required by law. During a yearlong grace period, larger companies will be required to insure fewer employees than

Some people don’t believe it. In school, we were taught, along with reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmatic, how the Constitution is amended: an amendment must go before both houses of Congress and pass a two-thirds vote. Before it becomes a permanent part of the Constitution, three fourths of the state legislatures would have to ratify it. But there’s another way to change the Constitution, and it’s hidden in plain sight in Article V, one that many of us have never even heard of. Here’s the text of Article V: The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments

Pat Roberts, who owns a duplex in Dodge City as well as a house in Alexandria, Va., does not live in the Dodge City home when he is in Kansas. Instead, Roberts has rented out the house for several years; he told the Times he pays a friend $300 a month to stay in a room in the friend´s house during visits to his home state. The article set off an uproar, with both Democrats and Republicans slamming Roberts. But the piece did not shed much light on the bigger

Why liberals make “assault rifles” the main focus of their gun control efforts is a mystery, for at least two reasons. First, rifles of all kinds account for a minuscule portion of homicides, far fewer than knives, clubs, shotguns or bare hands. Second, there is no such thing as an assault rifle. What liberals have in mind when they use that term is a species of semiautomatic rifle. But they don’t mean semiautomatic rifles like my Marlin 60, because it doesn’t look scary to them: They mean semiautomatic rifles like the AR-15, which do, they think, look scary:

The families of two women who have sought to be recognised as children of Nelson Mandela have contacted the executors of the will of the anti-apartheid leader, but are not seeking money, a lawyer said Monday. Michael Katz, a lawyer for the executors, said he had received an attorney´s letter citing the women´s claims, and that he would discuss the matter with the executors, who revealed details of the will last week. "They made the claim that they are descendants of Madiba," Mr Katz said, using Mandela´s clan name. "They indicated that this wasn´t a monetary claim." The defenestration of Woody Allen started Feb. 2 with a column in the New York Times by Nicholas Kristof. He began by saying all the right things: that allegations against Allen of sexually molesting Dylan Farrow, the 7-year-old daughter of his onetime companion Mia Farrow, had never been proved and that Allen “should be presumed innocent.” Then Kristof threw Allen out the window. Waiting below was a mob of people who felt as Kristof did: There must be something to the allegations. Left unsaid in the Kristof column, but figuring mightily in public opinion, was the perception of Allen as odd,

A batch of employers won´t face a fine next year if they fail to provide health insurance to their workers, the Obama administration said Monday. In regulations outlining the Affordable Care Act, the Treasury Department said employers with between 50 and 99 full-time workers won´t have to comply with the law´s requirement to provide insurance or pay a fee until 2016. Companies with 100 workers or more could avoid penalties in 2015 if they showed they were offering coverage to at least 70 percent of their full-time workers, the Treasury said. The verdict is in, and it’s not good: Obamacare is rippling through the U.S. economy with vast implications for American prosperity. On Friday, we learned that the Obama economy has hit stall speed, with a paltry 113,000 jobs added in January. Two days earlier, we learned the president’s health care law is discouraging Americans from working, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. The report makes for bracing reading. The law will reduce the labor supply by the equivalent of 2.3 million full-time workers, the CBO says — up from an estimated 800,000 just three years ago.

Some conservative websites and commentators have expressed outrage that NBC’s Olympics opening video referred to communism as “one of modern history’s pivotal experiments,” and Glenn Beck joined in Monday to vent at NBC, mockingly crying, “I didn’t realize that killing 50 million people was a pivotal experiment!” Beck said, “I couldn’t believe NBC has gone full-fledged dark and insane.” He said in any sane country “this would brand NBC as a communist network,” and seriously doubted anyone at any time would dare refer to fascism in the same way. There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy." Maurice who? Mr. Strong, a former oil executive from Canada (he was Pierre Trudeau´s pick to run state-owned Petro-Canada in the mid-1970s), was for many years the U.N.´s ultimate mandarin.
