ObamaCare delay hints
at deeper troubles

USA Today, by Editorial

Original Article

President Obama signed his ambitious health reform plan into law more than three years ago. Let´s say that again: more than three years ago. When Obama signed the law on March 23, 2010, everyone knew that all but the smallest businesses would be required to offer their employees health insurance by Jan. 1, 2014. But now, not unlike a college student who hasn´t used his time wisely, the White House says it needs an extension. On Tuesday, the administration put off for a year the provision that requires any business with at least 50 full-time employees to provide health insurance for workers

Obama has dissolved the Congress. He has decided that his will supersedes the will of the Congress.

Read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.

This is what happens when Congress passes stuff purely on The Won´s say-so, without reading it. Unworkable, written by a bunch of incompetent staffers.

Obama, still choosing which laws to enforce. How can he just ignore something passed by congress and signed by him? Media isn´t touching this angle.
Not that I´m not glad about the delay.

I´ve never been very keen on USA Today editorials. This one does nothing to change my mind. It is misleading in places, offers nothing new in others, and generally reflects poorly on the editorial staff. Little wonder USAT has turned into little more than an oversized pamphlet.

Point from another poster is what the Administration will do leading up to Oct. 31, 2014 when companies, under the WARN ACT, are required to hand out layoff notices.

Yeah, I know, the law-breaker-in-chief will just roll the start date down the road.

If ever there was a time for a Tea Party march on Washington, it is now. Think of what they have to say:

1. Obamacare, passed against the will of the people and unworkable.
2. No DOJ investigations have begun on the IRS application-delays for 501C3/4 status.
3. 9 million jobs lost.
4. Unconstitutional delay in the implementation of the ACA mandate (I´m glad it´s delayed but it should be repealed.)
5. Foreign policy disasters everywhere Obama goes.
6. The cost of Air Force One vacations and junkets by this Administration at a time when people are genuinely suffering, economically.
7. The loss of doctors due to O-Care.
8. Total and utter corruption in the IRS, DOJ, EPA and now a new mandate in the works to close down coal-fired energy plants.
9. Dangers to religious freedom.
10. NSA leaks.
11. Benghazi - not a soul being held responsible.
12. Voter suppression due to IRS targeting of Tea Party groups for persecution.
13. Israel being targeted by this Administration in favor of Muslim groups and Palestinian groups.

In short, where´s the Tea Party in the streets when we need them? Have they given up?

Who is leading conservative thought in Congress? Trey Gowdey seems to be the only one with a clank factor.

OPEN LETTER TO CONGRESS: Repeal Obamacare yesterday. It cannot work and any attempt on your part to salvage it will be viewed as colluding with the Enemy. REPEAL and start over in small bites.

The Republicans sold us out years ago. They think we will keep voting the way they tell us in presidential elections. That won´t ever happen again for me. Palin is right, we need another party and the Tea Party is fine with me. Just work it and make it so big no one can ignore it. I´ll help.

Being that close to God made Obama feel like God.
Time is right to start a repeal win or lose it would serve the dead head Republicans.

Obamacare, cobbled together in secret by multitudes of pointy-heads, working by candlelight deep in the bowels of the beltway catacombs, and, never seeing the light of day or the eye of a legislator before being voted the law of the land, is presented to the implementation team, who in unison cry out, “WTF is that? We can’t build that.” Valerie replies, “Oh, well, maybe next year.”

Too much corruption too few who understand . Uneducated (especially those who went through public schools and universities) as to what the Constitution means and what liberties are being taken. Deep concern swamps me for the future of this country and what the next generations will face. I somehow keep seeing a deep divide that cannot be breached and an end to what was once a great republic. obamacare is the battering ram to the gates of the republic.

If this is really true then other groups should also be in favour of abolishing the tax code and the IRS and going to a simple sales tax. The decisions involved are simple enough but when politics is involved in them they become very complex and nobody has the wisdom or ability to make the decisions fairly. It is like porn, everybody knows it when they see it, but nothing can ever be definitely condemned as porn.

Has any GOPer ever questioned the ´50 million without insurance´ figure? Who are these people? Are they 49 million illegals and 1 million healthy people who don´t need or want health insurance? Or are they 50 million people who are too lazy/cheap to buy their own coverage?

FTA: Perfecting it will take years, but it´s far better than the alternative, which is to see more and more people lose their insurance as costs rise to unaffordability.

Has the fact that the cost of insurance will more than double under ObamaCare escaped the editors´ attention?

Only editorial hacks insist there are but two alternatives (in this case, bad and worse). Perhaps common-sense, market-based reforms would be a better alternative to both. Perhaps we could start by reforming the malpractice system so doctors can stop practicing defensive medicine which by many estimates adds 30 percent to the cost of health care.

Let´s not forget what Obamacare is. It is a nose in the camel´s tent as it was all the electorate would stomach at the time. We are dealing with professorial Marxists. Their goal is fairness. Their mantra is "Why can´t the richest country on earth provide healthcare for all its citizens?". The end result will be for roughly 50% of the citizens to provide healthcare and services for the other 50%. These are just guesses but to achieve this they will use a Draconian sliding scale to decide how much you should pay. I would guess that if you make under 133% of the federal poverty level, healthcare will be free. If you make around $80,000 per year you will pay about $9,000. In their eyes, that´s fair. /s

I agree, #18. Look how many times Boehner had chances to fight obama´s illegal actions and simply ignored them. Why did they not scream when billions of dollars of borrowed stimulus money went to obama´s friends for purposes of buying votes? Why did Republicans not protest an obviously rigged 2012 election? Why is the lying, deceitful Holder not in jail? And his equally crooked boss not impeached? The protection of barry soetoro goes far beyond skin color. The ball is in our court.

I still have a simple question to ask. After all of the super wonderful Obamacare is implemented and running sooo smoothly, where are the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers going to come from? Already, I see stories about how a good many hospitals will close down, doctors are going to retire or go out of business, etc due to small reimbursements. If they can´t make a living, just what does the great, all knowing, magnificent federal government going to do? Require certain people to go into the healthcare business? I wouldn´t put it pass the liberals/progressives in this country to attempt some scheme like that.

As prior posters have addressed, why would any college grads even consider going into medical and nursing schools, when their loan debt will be ginormous and the pay will not compensate for the amount of years and sacrifice of studying? Couple that with docs already retiring early or closing shop, "free" healthcare won´t be staffed.

As such, the US will import foreign, non-English speaking/writing docs from 9th world countries employing them at very low government wages with no accountability to the patient. The quality will plummet to the level of African countries.

I noted there are 26 posts to this article with 24 complaining, mostly about Congress and the lack of GOP action. Of the 26, only one post, #7, calls for specific citizen action.

Is it the case that those of conservative persuasion no longer see themselves as part of the larger equation? Given the state of Congress since 2006, do a majority of conservatives still look exclusively to their elected representatives? Are conservatives no longer people of action? If we don´t show unified strength, we will continue to be marginalized and individuals will be more fearful than they are now to speak out.

There are already too many "joking" L.com posts about the perils of speaking out and exercising the rights of peaceable assembly and free speech. In my younger days, I and my friends used to speak with astonishment and negative wonder at how the Jews apparently went peacefully into the cattle cars to be literally railroaded to their deaths. As the offspring of WWII vets, we never imagined ourselves cowering in the face of government tyranny. Grousing without action is a form of slow suicide. I´m with #7 and not just about the issues of Obamacare.

Imagine a situation in which an earthquake destroys a suspension bridge over a deep canyon. A few people are quite disturbed when they learn of the tragedy about to unfold if the train isn’t halted, but they are labeled as “alarmists” who really are not sophisticated enough to understand the situation. It sounds good, but it is nothing more than a political ploy to distract from the ever-conspicuous cloud of bad mojo following Democrats around as they brace for the 2014 midterm elections. A married freshman Republican congressman who campaigned on his Christian, conservative values apologized Monday after surveillance video surfaced purportedly showing him in a lengthy liplock with a staffer. In the Dec. 23 footage, obtained by a local newspaper, Rep. Vance McAllister, R-La. - who ahead of his election last fall ran multiple campaign ads trumpeting his faith and family - is seen kissing and embracing a woman for about 20 seconds at his Monroe, La., district office. The Ouachita Citizen reports the woman is the congressman´s 33-year-old part-time scheduler, who is also married.

Call it the million-worker mystery. A large chunk of American adults are no longer in the labor force. That has left economists divided over how many of them are voluntarily not working-or even looking for work-because they wanted to retire, go to school or take care of family members, versus how many have been forced out because they couldn´t find a job. (snip) Shierholz estimates that there are currently more than 5 million missing workers who are not included in the unemployment rate because they are neither working nor looking for work, but who might be if the job market

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says investigators have uncovered evidence that a former Internal Revenue Service official may have committed crimes as part of the agency´s tea party controversy. Rep. Dave Camp set a committee vote for Wednesday on whether to refer Lois Lerner, who used to head the agency´s tax-exempt division, to the Justice Department "for possible criminal prosecution." Camp, R-Mich., did not specify which laws Lerner may have broken. Lerner´s lawyer, William W. Taylor III, has said she broke no laws. On Monday, Taylor emailed this response to Camp´s announcement: "One word: Ridiculous." Camp´s committee has been investigating

The Democratic National Committee is furious by a conservative website’s ad campaign that depicts Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi clad in a bikini in a provocative pose with her tongue sticking out. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, called on Republicans to press Breitbart News to remove the artwork — one of several suggestive images on the website promoting the new California site. The image of Pelosi, beneath one of California Gov. Jerry Brown’s face photo-shopped onto a flexing body builder, includes the sub-head: “Because you can’t make this s— up.” “To say the least,

Add Bryan Cranston, the star of TV´s recent hit "Breaking Bad" and a new Broadway play about former President Lyndon B. Johnson, to Team Obamacare. In an interview with Yahoo News “global anchor” Katie Couric, the actor called Obamacare the highlight of President Obama´s legacy. “Now’s the time to stake a claim to leave your legacy,” he encouraged Obama. “I personally believe that his health care program is fantastic. Yes, there are problems. Anything worth while is going to go through a growing pains period. But this is his legacy and I think it’s a great one because I don’t

As the House prepares for several key votes on former Internal Revenue Service employee Lois G. Lerner and potential legal action, analysts say she and her attorney have mishandled their case by picking and choosing when they want to talk, and to whom they are willing to talk. Ms. Lerner faces a vote in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday that could begin the process of accusing her of contempt of Congress. The Ways and Means Committee announced that it will hold a vote Wednesday on whether to officially accuse Ms. Lerner of breaking the law by

Hours after the Drudge Report suggested on Sunday that "Republicans expand[ed] Obamacare" in the headline for the site´s lead story, an "alert" from the office of House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, countered that they had actually "chip[ped] away another piece" of the law. The recent change "eliminated a cap on deductibles for small group policies offered inside the law´s health care exchanges as well as outside," the Associated Press explained. "Successfully repealing this Obamacare provision is just one part of Republicans´ larger effort to repeal the full law and replace it with better solutions focused on lowering health care costs for families
