Washington is riven by conflict and deep-seated division. It is rare indeed that both sides can agree on anything consequential. Therefore it is incredibly heartening that there is now bipartisan agreement that the implementation of Obamacare is a mess. (Snip) The administration can call it whatever it wants, but there is no hiding the embarrassment of a climbdown on a high-profile feature of President Barack Obama’s signature initiative — although the administration seemed determined to do all it could to hide it. If Bloomberg hadn’t broken the news on Tuesday, the administration was apparently planning to
Comments: Obama blinked, but are the Pubbies too politically scared to defund it because then the blame for losing such "popular" provisions as staying on M and D´s policy till halfway through your 20s, would be pinned on them? Why not just do what is right instead of first weighing its political expediency?
The problem is the left´s thinking that people and business have tons of money stashed away and can afford this catastrophe from hell with a little prodding from the government. It´s the same thinking unions have gone by and are now around 12% of the workforce.
There´s tons of ignorant lofos who think Obamacare is the same as national healthcare and it´s a freebie for all with greedy businesses paying the whole tab.
Getting rid of the employer mandate for a year is to duck the thousands of lay offs and hours cut before the election.
And what about an asst. from the Treasury dept. making this announcement? This shows how convoluted this inane monstrosity really is.Maybe a park ranger will make the next announcement.

This horrific embarrassment to our reader, obomba and the entire rat party reminds me of the reader´s desire to have the Olympic Games in Chi Land. He dragged Oprah and the Wookie to the committee gave them his usual jive and expected a big win and lots of cash jumpin nto Chi Land pockets of his cronies. Not only was Chi land passed over, it wasn´t even in the running. The headline on Drudge for days read "THE EGO HAS LANDED" Well, ´folks´ perhaps this time the ego has flown into one of those non working energy wind mills. Perhaps our Lord does move in mysterious ways..
KATHLEEN SEBELIUS: Delaying the Employer Mandate may be good politics, sir, but it’ll never fly with business. Better just to yank it from the bill now. JOE BIDEN: She’s right, Boss. Same’s true for the individual mandrake. OBAMA: That’s mandate, Joe. A mandrake is a plant that’s said to shriek when pulled from the ground.
Yeah, okay, Joe. I see where you’re coming from. But without the two mandrakes, we don’t even have ObamaCare Lite. VALERIE JARRETT: It’ll be a big part of your legacy, sir. You’ll be the man responsible for protecting the American people from the consequences of a poor decision by the previous administration.
[phone rings; Jay Carney answers, listens, hangs up]
JAY CARNEY That was Edward Snowden, sir. Apparently, he’s still plugged into the NSA network. He said to tell you he agrees with Valerie.
The blatant dictator-like Valerie Jarrett should be drawn and quartered for this statement:
“As we implement this law,” Jarrett explained, “we have and will continue to make changes as needed.” But the law is supposed to be the law, not optional suggestions from Congress.
If "the law were the law", the delay in implementation wouldn´t be permitted to happen. The delay is unconstitutional and is not Valerie´s or the POTUS´ decision to make.
The reason for the delay is not arguable: It is to delay the pain for voters until after the next election so that the Democrats have a better chance of taking the House. In addition, the delay really is because the law is so cumbersome, the red tape is so voluminous and the mechanisms are not in place to get the ACA off the ground.
So what choices do the Democrats have with such a willing Republican presence? They can say, "Okay, we´ll go along with breaking the law by delaying the mandate", or they can say, if they had a conscience and one brain among all of them, "This law must be repealed and let´s start over in smaller chunks to make health care truly affordable to those who WANT it."
But since there´s too much common sense and honor in the latter choice, we´re still screwed.
Repeal is the only sensible choice -- for everyone.
How can you on the demand of the executive branch, amend, delay, or change in any way a law already passed and signed by the president just because it isn´t working out the way it was planned? Seems to me that is highly unconstitutional. If the Republicans had anyone with a strategical clue, they would insist that the delay be done properly. It would be a great opportunity to discuss the merits of Obamacare and also educate the public on the checks and balances aspect of our government. The executive branch has so overstepped its bounds during this administration, it believes it´s a monarchy with the right to rule and reign over us like kings. You´d think that fighting that battle once was enough. Time to remind the would-be rulers (in both parties) we are free born Americans and this is a nation of laws, not men.
#5, Your dialogue is a scream ! But please tone it down -- I laughed so hard I almost blew coffee on the keyboard ! This debacle of Obamacare is what motivated the 2010 mid term sweep. The Repubs should be shouting from the rooftops from now till 2014 elections about its damage to the individual as well as the economy in general, and maybe we can hold onto the House and pick up nos. in the Senate. If we lose the House, its over.
Bingo #14! I only wish that the Republicans would see an Egypt-size crowd that wants this Obamanation of a president ousted in the legal American way. That would be winning both houses of Congress by wide margins with Republican conservatives in 2014. Then a true Conservative winning the presidency and retaining the Congress in 2016.
What does it take for them to wake up to the fact that Barry and his female Rasputin, ValJar, are wanna-be dictators.
Our little tin-horned preezy hasn´t a clue about the Constitution and freedom and liberty, because he wasn´t schooled in his soul about its meaning. His soul belongs to left-wing socialism - I guess that is Marxism (I´m trying hard to not call him a communist - never know who´s watching what I write).
Democrat talk: "We don´t like this part of the law, let´s just postpone it until after the election. We can just ignore this like we do every other law we don´t like." Why does Obama and his faux-administration still have jobs when they are directed to uphold and enforce our current laws?
I agree with others here, the law can not be delayed by executive fiat, the law is the law as passed and signed. If it is going to be delayed or changed it needs to go through the Congressional proceess
And guess what? We librarians are being recruited as shills for this hot, stinking mess called Obamacare. In the first place, we get zero federal funding, most of our revenue is from local property taxes and fees for services like copying/faxing. A lot of libraries don´t even supply tax forms anymore it´s such a hassle. And they have the unmitigated gall to foist this on us? Seriously?
The fatal flaw in obamacare is the strategy of killing the host to appease the parasites. We all know the outcome of that one. Without successful businesses, they all die of starvation. It doesn´t matter what year they choose to implement.
ValJar is not capable of being embarrassed by her statements. That talk is exactly what is expected from a dumbbutt Chicago slumlord who was hired to guide and cover for a stooge who is even dumber than she. When the economy dies its inevitable death, they will both have those stupid smiles wiped off ther faces.
#23 I hope you are correct about the transformation of smiles on the faces of the regime members. However, I can see the SlumLandLord/Revenge Queen ValJar, Mooch and Pooch riding into the sunset with mountains of our money waiting for them in their next secure havens. They have been tucking away millions for nearly 5 years, quite a stash waiting for them after they complete the destruction. If nothing else, Karma has to catch up with the evildoers eventually.
Join the club #20. I am a library clerk in a small town in MI. And there´s no way I´m going to act as a recruiter for Obamacare. But I do feel bad for people working in big city libraries and have no choice but to waste time helping recruit people for gubmint handouts.
Cory Booker must have been unavailable. Josh Romney, son of former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, said in a tweet on Friday that he saved four people after a car accident and included a photo of himself standing next to what appeared to be an overturned vehicle inside a house. "Was first on scene to big accident, see pic of car in the house. I lifted 4 people out to safety. All ok. Thankful.", the tweet read. Romney, who lives in Utah, told NBC News he was driving his family home from Thanksgiving dinner when the car sped by, went
We have a deal. After years of false starts, mutual recriminations and steadily escalating pressure, Iran has finally agreed to accept real limits on its nuclear program. In his statement Saturday night announcing the agreement, U.S. President Barack Obama called it an "important first step" and declared that diplomacy had "opened up a new path toward a world that is more secure." (snip) But we’re still a very long way from Tipperary on this one. And we should be careful about putting on the party hats and breaking out the champagne—at least for now, anyway. And here are five reasons why.
Nov. 22 falls on the Friday before Thanksgiving this year, just as it did 50 years ago. And that extraordinary day in 1963 began on the Hill in ways that would seem familiar to the congressional denizens of today. (Snip) As was the custom, then as now, the chore of acting as presiding officer had been parceled out to several of the freshmen with the lunchtime slot assigned to the youngest in the class, 31-year-old Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. He was in the chair when his brother was killed. And from that instant, the scene at the Capitol unfolded
Before President Obama was elected, the United States was known as one nation under God — but the Obama Administration seems to think otherwise. Organizing For America published an email Sunday suggesting the greatest nation on the face of the Earth owes its allegiance to another deity. David Axelrod write that “we’ve made serious progress as a nation under President Obama.” You can read his edict in its entirety below. No wonder the Democratic National Committee voted to remove the Almighty from their party in 2012. They only have room for one God.
Second-term presidents in the past 30 years have had some pretty embarrassing news conferences, full of frank admissions of failure, submissive spasms of shame and groveling, grieving apologies. Bill Clinton had to admit that he actually did have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky; George W. Bush finally thought of something he might have done wrong; his dad had to explain all those new taxes after his unequivocal pledge; and even Ronald Reagan ate crow over the Iran-Contra affair. But there has never, ever, been a more pitiful presser than the one conducted last week by President Obama.
The continuing attention devoted to the blunders, incompetence, and lies surrounding the Obamacare rollout is much deserved. But we shouldn’t forget that the President’s health-care monstrosity is merely the latest and biggest of scores of government entitlement programs suffering from the same flawed progressive assumption––that government “experts” armed with coercive power alone can solve problems better left to the states, civil society, and the free market. In reality, such programs relentlessly metastasize, increasing as well fraud, waste, abuse, and costs. One such program is SNAP, the kinder and gentler name for what we used to call food stamps. Apparently the
While Barack Obama’s grotesque lie, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it!” haunts millions of Americans who are learning first-hand that the exact opposite is true, The One, in concert with corrupt RINOS and Democrats (whom are automatically understood to be universally corrupt), is counting on another WHOPPER to codify his amnesty nightmare into federal law. With respect to amnesty, the equivalent Obama lie is, “Once we pass reform (AKA, Amnesty), we will secure the borders!) Translated: If you like American sovereignty, language, and culture you CAN KEEP IT——if you pass amnesty!
I suppose liberal politicians have to operate by the philosophy that if you want to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. But 15.8 million of them? That´s a lot of broken eggs - even through the White House spin masters don´t want you to look at it that way. During the past few weeks, hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of Americans have been notified that they are being dropped from the health insurance coverages they have now. Some may remember President Barack Obama´s promises, made over and over again, that if you like the insurance you have, Obamacare
Cairo, Egypt--Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s trial begins on Monday November 4th, (Valentine’s day in Egypt), and intel rumors are rife that the trial will prove President Barack Obama’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. If former Chief of Egyptian Intelligence Murad Muwafi, can prove Morsi’s agreement to the presence of terrorists in Egypt and providing them with protection, he will be executed for the crime of high treason. (Snip) These are the facts Muwafi will present to the trial: The Muslim Brotherhood was linked directly with the CIA—before the massive Peoples’ Revolution of January 25th—and the Barack Obama Administration kept inciting the
President Barack Obama personally authorised the phone tapping of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile because he wanted to ´know everything´ about the world’s most powerful woman, it was claimed on Sunday. (Snip) ‘Obama did not stop the action at that time but allowed it to continue,’ said an intelligence official familiar with the NSA operation against Merkel image on Sunday. ´Obama did not stop the action but rather furthered it,´ said the Bild informant. ´The reason for the action?´ said Bild. ´Obama wanted to know exactly who this woman was.´ German handling of the eurozone crisis and its refusal to get involved
US President Barack Obama was scheduled to visit the Church of Our Lady cathedral in Dresden during a June 2009 whistle-stop visit to Germany. (Snip) On this day, at the latest, it must have dawned on diplomats that this US president was different from his predecessors. He was someone who did not attach value to diplomatic niceties nor to the sensitivities of his close friends, which he already had proven as a presidential candidate. At that time he put Chancellor Merkel in an awkward position by wanting to make a campaign speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate. This site
While Washington, and the press, have been in an uproar over the government shutdown and the debt-limit negotiations, the debt itself has continued to climb. (Snip) The big lesson of the shutdown is that -- in a time when so-called "draconian cuts" usually refer to mere decreases in the rate of growth of spending on programs -- America was able to do without all the "non-essential" government workers just fine. (The same AP poll cited above says that 80% have felt no impact from the shutdown; a majority also oppose increasing the debt limit.) Turns out that most of those
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
Hardly a week goes by without Hillary Clinton receiving another award. Last month she was named a “Global Champion” by the International Medical Corps, received the American Patriot Award at the National Defense University Foundation and the Hermandad Award from the Mexican American Leadership Initiative. [Snip] At this rate, if a bunch of elderly left-wing Swedes toss her the Nobel Peace Prize early on, the way they did to Obama, it will barely rate mention among all the other glittering trophies that have been bestowed on a woman whose only actual accomplishment was being married to a crooked governor with
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
In February, the Bush family’s personal emails were hacked by Guccifer, a hacker who uncovered photographs of former President George H. W. Bush in a hospital bed and George W. Bush’s oil paintings in the process. It seems Guccifer has struck again, this time targeting former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Library. The hacker has reportedly uncovered doodles of Clinton drawing on what were, at the time, classified documents. Among the doodles is apparently a picture of a penis. The document uncovered is a briefing of the strategic measures the United States could take prior Clinton’s decision to intervene in
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
WASHINGTON – A fourth straight month of solid hiring cut the U.S. unemployment rate to a five-year low of 7 percent in November, an encouraging sign for the economy. The Labor Department says employers added 203,000 jobs, nearly matching October´s revised gain of 200,000. The job gains helped lower the unemployment rate from 7.3 percent in October. The strengthening job market is likely to fuel speculation that the Federal Reserve may start to scale back its bond purchases when it meets later this month. The economy has now generated an average of 204,000 jobs from August through November. That´s up
