Is America in a Pre-Revolutionary
State this July 4th?

PJ Media, by Roger L. Simon

As we approach July 4, 2013, is America in a pre-revolutionary state? Are we headed for a Tahrir Square of our own with the attendant mammoth social turmoil, possibly even violence. Could it happen here? We are two-thirds of the way into the most incompetent presidency in our history. People everywhere are fed up. Even many of the so-called liberals who propelled Barack Obama into office have stopped defending him in the face of an unprecedented number of scandals coming at us one after the other like hideous monsters in some non-stop computer game. And now looming is the monster of monsters,

If it is, it´s a good thing Obama´s all-seeing State has bought such an unusually large amount of ammunition...

I find it interesting that a country we consider third world and failing, knows enough to try to get rid of an incompetent and corrupt ruler and we, who consider ourselves advanced, re-elect one.

I don´t think America is in this pre-revolutionary state, but Texas is. Most of the liberal enclaves around the USA are perfectly happy with all of the extensive power the federal government has acquired. They simply do not care when their state government tells them what size of drink they can buy or when their government monitors their phone conversations.

Texans are realizing we can stand on our own, economically and energy-wise. I see more "secede" bumper stickers on a daily basis then I have over the last 4 years.

Now that Russian soldiers have been hired by D of HS to provide security at "events", can we trust that they will not open fire on American citizens in a moment of real or imagined turmoil? It can´t happen here has been in place for quite some time. An incredibly scary time to be an American in America.

Why do you think the government has purchased those hollow-point bullets and (if #5´s information is correct - I heard Michael Savage say this, too) bring in outside troops like the Chinese dictators did to suppress the 1989 Tienanmen Square uprising? Something is brewing, and the Constitution has not been in this much peril for a century and a half. Keep this in mind as we remember Philadelphia in 1776 and Gettysburg in 1863.

Dick Nixon, then a 29-year-old lawyer for the government’s Office of Price Administration, endured a gloomy train ride to Rhode Island for two months of rigorous officer training at Quonset Point, the first week of which, Dick wrote Pat, “was the longest I’ve ever known.” He disliked studying naval science and ballistics and was no fan of the arduous physical training in the summer humidity. The Department of Health and Human Services added a high-dollar Democratic donor to its list of most-wanted fugitives on Friday in connection with a widespread scheme of alleged Medicare and Medicaid fraud. Dr. Yousef Kurdy owned and operated a California business called the Broadway Medical Center. He was arrested on charges of fraud, aggravated identity theft, aiding and abetting, criminal forfeiture, tax evasion, and violations of anti-kickback laws in January of 2012. According to investigators, Kurdy fraudulently billed Medicare and Medi-Cal, California’s state Medicaid agency, over $150,000 for fictional patient visits. “Investigators believe that Kurdy billed for office visits on dates that he

All those hoping for an end to the ongoing security agreement standoff between Afghanistan and the United States awoke to some good news Thursday: German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who had just returned to Berlin after meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, said that Karzai told him he would sign the agreement. “He said to me very clearly: The deal has been negotiated, it would not be amended, and “Steinmeier told German parliament on Thursday afternoon. “I was pleased that Karzai said very clearly that Afghanistan would in any case sign.” Steinmeier’s statement, however, came with one important caveat: Karzai gave

Not so long ago the Constitution got respect. But now, not so much. President Obama is on his way to repealing the separation of powers, and the 10th Amendment is on life-support, ignored by federal judges who know better than the legislatures of Utah, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Virginia. Mischief-makers in black robes insist on redefining marriage to suit their peculiar fancy. U.S. District Court Judge Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen last week nullified an amendment to their state constitution as ratified by Virginia voters. “Tradition is revered in the Commonwealth, and often rightly so,” wrote Judge Wright Allen, “However, tradition alone cannot

First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California. Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. CAMBRIDGE, Md.—Dreary weather, low turnout, and an icy political outlook for this year´s election chilled the House Democratic retreat here. Even an appearance by Vice President Joe Biden got snowed out. President Obama is still expected to speak Friday to the 110 or so lawmakers—just over half the caucus—who made it to talk strategy at a tony hotel better suited for summer. And Biden is apt to make it, too. But digging out of this malaise will take more energy than Obama´s speech can deliver, even as Democratic leaders circulated word that the president has committed to do at least six fundraisers

Last year, 64 percent of job offers filled through Merritt Hawkins, one of the nation’s leading physician placement firms, involved hospital employment, compared with only 11 percent in 2004. The firm anticipates a rise to 75 percent in the next two years. Today, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral argument in the case of Wagner v. Jones. Our friend Peter Berkowitz discussed the case in a Wall Street Journal op-ed (it’s behind a pay wall). Teresa Wagner accuses the University of Iowa College of Law of violating her First and Fourteenth Amendment rights by refusing to hire her for its legal analysis, writing, and research program due to her strong pro-life views and activism. Her accusation is strongly supported by a comparison of her qualifications for the position and those of the two individuals selected by the law school. Wagner was already

Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. King interjected “Hold up, hold up. Stop! Bill Clinton was accused of rape?” Malzberg reacted

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in direct contact with President Barack Obama at least 18 times between October 2012 and October 2013, including seven occasions where her draft calendar showed Obamacare as the topic of conversation. The news appears to contradict her insistence that Obama was in the dark about problems plaguing the ill-fated healthcare.gov website in the months leading up to its October 1, 2013 launch. The Hill newspaper reported Thursday that documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request show meetings, events and phone calls where the two were together. They also show at

Ted Cruz’s latest filibustering of a Senate bill to increase the debt ceiling as self-destructive maneuver that achieved nothing — except, perhaps, hastened the destruction of the GOP. “What exactly was on Ted Cruz’s mind?” a boggled Reagan asked. “What was he thinking of in terms of his Senate colleagues? At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them. Is the inevitability of her run really as certain as the conventional wisdom suggests, and further, is it unfolding in an optimal manner for the potential candidate? In all likelihood, Clinton will not make a final, "go-or-no-go" decision until early next year, after the dust has settled from

Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner´s -- and the country´s -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike. Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014! Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown. The school of literary criticism known as reception theory holds that a text should be studied in light of its effect on its contemporaries, that a reader should be aware of the “horizon of expectations” in which a text is produced. I was reminded of this the other day as I observed, in amusement, fascination, and occasional pity, the reaction of the so-called mainstream media to Alana Goodman’s lengthy and rock-solid report on “The Hillary Papers.” This trove of previously unexamined transcriptions of conversations between Hillary Clinton and her best friend Diane Blair had been collecting dust at the University

Is demonic possession real or the manifestation of mental illness? In assisting priests in nearly 100 exorcisms, Adam Blai has become a true believer in good and evil, God and the devil. "If you’ve seen the things in the Gospels played out in front of you, it ceases to become faith. It’s knowledge,” says Blai. Former Allegheny County commissioner Bob Cranmer says he shares that same knowledge. He says his home was possessed. “I’ve seen it; I’ve seen crucifixes bent in half repeatedly. I’ve seen Rosary beads torn apart. That doesn’t happen,” said Cranmer. “That’s an evil. That’s not Casper

Everyone knew there would be some gun owners flouting the law that legislators hurriedly passed last April, requiring residents to register all military-style rifles with state police by Dec. 31. But few thought the figures would be this bad. That 50,000 figure could be as little as 15 percent of the rifles classified as assault weapons owned by Connecticut residents, according to estimates by people in the industry, including the Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation. No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps
