Federal prosecutors asked a judge on Friday to allow the government to seize former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s two homes, as well as an IRA account with nearly $80,000 in it, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Jackson and his wife, Sandi, have a home in Chicago and another in Washington, D.C. Jackson, who is guilty of looting his campaign fund of $750,000 for personal purchases, will be sentenced next Wednesday, and prosecutors are seeking a four-year prison term for the former Congressman. According to the report, Jackson has forfeited about $20,000 worth of merchandise so far,

Comments:
I´m actually surprised he has to pay for his crimes. This is not unusual behavior for Democrats and they usually get away with it.

Isn´t there a beer distributorship or something that the Rev. Jackson controls?

After a short stay in a Club Fed, things will be fine for Jesse, Jr. and the Missus.

The Obama administration is pushing forward with a Federal Communications Commission project that would send the nose of government researchers in newsrooms across the country — and First Amendment advocates want to know why. The touted purpose of the plan is to “identify and understand the critical information needs of the American public, with special emphasis on vulnerable-disadvantaged populations,” the FCC said, Fox News reported. But at least one FCC commissioner, Ajit Pai, wrote an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal that suggested the notion was more aimed at giving government entities the ability to “grill reporters, editors and

A group of major GOP donors, led by New York billionaire Paul Singer, is quietly expanding its political footprint ahead of the midterm elections in an increasingly assertive effort to shape the direction of the Republican Party. The operation was launched discreetly last year, with the previously unreported formation of a club called the American Opportunity Alliance to bring together some of the richest pro-business GOP donors in the country, several of whom share Singer’s support for gay rights, immigration reform and the state of Israel. Around the same time, Singer and his allies also formed a federal fundraising committee called

How true to life is the hit Netflix show House of Cards? Well, one of the show’s stars apparently learned from a senior government official that reporters do, in fact, sleep with their sources. Yes, in a Q&A with Capitol File magazine, Robin Wright (who plays Claire Underwood) on the show, said that when she was researching her role, she learned some surprising things about what goes on in D.C. She says a “senior persion” in the Obama administration told her that reporters sleep with their sources, among other things. And what she took away from these revelations was this: “D.C.

The nation’s largest teachers union is pulling back on its once-enthusiastic support of the Common Core academic standards, labeling their rollout “completely botched.” National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel said he still believes the standards can improve education. But he said they will not succeed without a major “course correction” — including possibly rewriting some of the standards and revising the related tests with teacher input. “In far too many states, implementation has been completely botched,” Van Roekel wrote in a letter Wednesday afternoon to his more than 3 million members. Van Roekel’s statement suggests quite a rocky road ahead for

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of a plan by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to seek a national license plate tracking system. The order came in the wake of a story by The Washington Post reporting that ICE last week solicited proposals from companies to compile a database of license plate information from commercial and law enforcement tag readers. The idea behind the national license-plate recognition database, which would have drawn data from readers that scan the tags of every vehicle crossing their paths, was to help catch fugitive illegal immigrants, according to a DHS solicitation.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) are now in position to end the Tea Party’s death grip on the Republican Party’s political future. Last week, Boehner and McConnell faced down the Tea Party’s threat to cripple the government when they supported raising the nation’s debt ceiling. That move prevented GOP political suicide. If the nation’s credit rating, stocks and the recovery went down the sewer because of Republicans’ refusal to raise the debt ceiling, the GOP’s chances in the midterm elections would have been severely damaged. Most publications would be wary of letting the public know that politicians are in their corner, much less falling all over themselves to welcome them to the fight down in Texas. Translation: We have a shared purpose. GO TEAM! What a disturbing concept of journalism. News publications are not supposed to have the same purpose as politicians, nor are they supposed to be on the same team. Last I checked, they were supposed to inform, and the reporters were not to get too deeply enamored with their sources. But not Breitbart News. Bring on the BIG love no matter who it is

LINCOLN, Neb. — A judge has struck down a Nebraska law that allowed the Keystone XL oil pipeline to proceed through the state. Lancaster County Judge Stephanie Stacy issued a ruling Wednesday that invalidated Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman’s approval of the route. Stacy says the decision should have been made by the Nebraska Public Service Commission, which regulates pipelines and other utilities. The ruling could cause more delays in finishing the pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to Texas refineries. But it’s a win for Nebraska-based pipeline opponents. They’ve argued that Heineman exceeded his authority when he approved the route in

Attorney General Eric Holder flubbed a question from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) that is of vital importance to the rule of law. While the Constitution allows – and sometimes requires – executive action on many matters, President Barack Obama has asserted executive authority in unprecedented ways. When Lee asked why one of Obama’s orders does not violate the Constitution, Holder – the chief legal officer of the nation – had no answer. During a Senate oversight hearing, Lee asked Holder by what legal authority Obama suspended Obamacare’s employer mandate, which covers all companies with 50 or more employees. Holder admitted that he

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 17, 2014 – President Barack Obama has elevated the right to have sex with a member of the same sex to the level of universal “fundamental freedoms” in a new presidential statement criticizing Uganda. But critics say his promotion of homosexuality in a continent that overwhelmingly opposes that behavior amounts to a form of liberal “cultural imperialism.” Obama wrote on Sunday that he opposed a proposed bill in Uganda that would criminalize same-sex “marriages” and impose life imprisonment for repeated homosexual acts, among other provisions, because “as a country and a people, the United States has consistently
