Greenwald aims to

Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who broke the news about the NSA surveillance program, has moved to pre-empt possible forthcoming reports from The New York Daily News and The New York Times that, he says, are part of an effort to smear his character. In a new column, Greenwald says that reporters from both outlets contacted him on Wednesday inquiring about IRS backpayments. The Daily News reporter also asked Greenwald about his participation in an LLC that had an interest in adult video distribution, as well as a decade old student loan default. Greenwald said that he was expecting

This is similar to the Paula Deen issue. It is the same pattern used after communist dictators have firmly established their power. Like the example in The Killing Fields re-education camps, the regime takes one of its own to demonstrate to the supporters absolute power. This is a chilling turn because historically this tactic is never employed until after the dictators know they have absolute power over the nation.

This is just push back against Obama being all talk making numerous promises that can´t be kept. Nobody should ever support Obama until he lowers the sea levels. /s

Greenwald managed to stage manage an anti-American story that is so nasty it even POd the leftwingtards.

Now that´s tough to do.

BTW, still waiting for the evidence and it better be some good stuff ~ but I doubt it. Just how do you show folks 2.5 billion telephone numbers in a meaningful way ~ that´s just part of what Greenwald says his boy has ~ EVERYBODY´s phone number!

What a haul!

Not to denigrate the two principals in the story, but there´s been a lot of claiming, lot more blaming, and no good stuff.

For the sake of argument, The Scrapbook is willing to concede that it is possible that Cliven Bundy, the Nevada rancher, ought to be allowed to graze his cattle on federal land in Nye County. And that protecting the desert tortoise as an endangered species on that same federal land is no good reason to impose a fee for grazing livestock. Reasonable people can disagree about these issues, and will do so. But in the United States of America, since 1789, we have had ways of settling these disputes. The Sunday morning shows once occupied a sacred space in American politics. Today, many influential Washington players can’t even remember the last time they watched. The public affairs shows — “Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation” and “This Week” — used to set the agenda for the nation’s capital with their news-making interviews and immensely influential audience. Now the buzz around the shows is more likely to center on gossipy criticism about the hosts, notably “Meet the Press’s” David Gregory, whose fate has become an incessant subject of conversation, most recently in a Washington Post story on Monday. Last week´s news about Obamacare enrollment was great. But health care policy wonks have something else on their mind now: the cost of health care. It’s starting to rise more quickly than before. That could be a problem. For the last four years or so, national health care expenditures—that is, all the money that Americans spend on medical services and supplies—has been growing at historically low rates. It’s gone up every year, as it almost always does, but only by 3 or 4 percent. That’s just a little bit more than inflation. Typically health care spending has risen more quickly.

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries."
