The Miss USA pageant was last night; it was won by Erin Brady, Miss Connecticut: (image) There is an interesting trend toward the Northeast in Miss USA, as last year’s winner (and this year’s Miss Universe) was Olivia Culpo, Miss Rhode Island. But today’s news about the pageant focused less on Miss Brady than on Marissa Powell, Miss Utah. Miss Powell was the third runner-up, but she was deemed to have said something stupid during the question session. The New York Post’s account is typical:

She should have answered that the real problem isn´t "inequality" in pay for women. She should have cited the tragedy of fatherless households, and the resulting higher incidence of poverty (among other consequences) among women because of that.

Even more incredibly stupid is the idea that beautiful young women who are standing stunningly 90% naked should be expected to say something remotely intelligible, much less intelligent, in order to win the attention of the opposite sex.

She got caught between the truth she believes and a stupid question. She probably knows that the difference is due to women´s choices concerning children´s care, etc. Feminism has contributed to this problem as well as single mothers. What man wants to get married and be entangled when divorce happens (many women disdain men and couldn´t solve marital problems when faced with them)? I can´t believe how many women treat men like slaves without any choices. Sorry, I´m 79 and remember respect for husbands while subtly twisting them around your little finger, if needed.

The question stated that 40 percent of women make less than men. That means that 60 percent of women make the same as, or more than men. Looks we men are being mistreated.

Even the Miss USA Padget has be come politicized!
these young ladies are in a Beauty Padget, not running for a political office, imo they should not be ask these type of Q`s.
The top 15gals were the ones who had the biggest and most influential backers...period!
Miss Kentucky was the youngest candidate on the stage, she comes from a low income family, that family has a strong belief in God.
My daughter was her HS cheer-leading coach, we personally know her and her family well, the people of our little county worked hard scraping up the money from donations, and events to sent her to Vegas to compete. Allie is drop dead gorgeous, but did not know the "right" people to connect with, no big shot political or business backers, so I guess, she never had the American dream chance after all...there is more to it than just being beautiful..its who you know.
