It is not the kind of thing CBS sees as socially useful to cover. Now "Jenna Bush Tries to buy a Drink", THAT´s worth covering!!

Perhaps the July 4 program from Washington swamped the ratings of Boston´s show.

I don´t watch TV on July 4 anyway but the Washington program with bands and fireworks seems to be running for hours at any homes where I might visit. Are they spending public money for it?

I agree, steadily the people are being instructed that only Washington matters.

This is a disappointment. We always watched this, actually preferring it to the Macy´s fireworks show from New York. We enjoyed the Washington show in past years, but last year´s was a dud.

CBS will run what, instead?

Who feels like celebrating a country that will be officially dead once amnesty passes. And it´s our own party of backstabbers that will be responsible.

As somebody keeps pointing out that if Romney got 70% of the hispanic vote,he still would have lost. This shows the GOP is barking up he wrong tree for voters. They´d be much better off going after younger voters.

The other side of that is people thinking we need to pass gay marriage to get those votes.

If the various Tea Party groups would get off their egos and band together to form ONE Party, put up a strong candidate, then I too would ignore both Dems and Repubs vote for the Tea Party.

However, like the Dems and Repubs, the Tea Party will fail due to egos and power fights. I hope I´m wrong on that one.

A person is in custody tonight after police report suspicious bags were found at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street. An eye-witness told the Herald tonight a man dressed all in black and wearing a black veil walked down the middle of Boylston Street, with a backpack on his back, chanting "Boston strong, Boston strong." "He was weird looking," said Matthew VanWinkle. "He was wearing a black veil, a black hat, and no shoes." The bomb squad is now on the scene and police have pushed everyone back. Kyiv- A recording proving that Russia is backing separatists in eastern Ukraine has surfaced online. The SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) taped the operatives, whose code names are "Nose," "Adler," "Shooter" and "Agath," discussing strategy, weapon stockpiles, and requests for reinforcements. The SBU has identified the number calling the separatists in Ukraine as having a Russian +7 area code. The person with the Russian number asks Shooter to contact him. Later in the conversation, Shooter reports “fighting off the first (Ukrainian) attack” and shooting “some significant (highly-ranked Ukrainian) people."

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
