Document: Major resources
needed for Obama Africa trip

Washington Post, by Carol D. Leonnig and David Nakamura

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 6/13/2013 4:45:03 PM

When President Obama makes his first extended trip to sub-Saharan Africa this month, the federal agencies charged with keeping him safe won’t be taking any chances. Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency. Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bulletproof glass to cover the windows of the hotels

Comments:
Our fighter jets will provide 24 hour coverage, in shifts, over his air space.

Sickening.

This article is very detailed. Including three sets of special vehicles (including ambulance and x-ray equipment carrier) at each of three locations because they will be short stays. No time to move one set around.

And still no White House tours.

#4 beat me to it. Let the local countries provide security like they did for our consulates. Just make sure there are no bullets for their guns. And make sure the Muslim Brotherhood has approved of the travel plans so that they can order in the needed mortars. They can hire British companies to provide the unarmed security guards.

FTA: Fighter jets will fly in shifts, giving 24-hour coverage over the president’s airspace, so they can intervene quickly if an errant plane gets too close.

Couldn´t spare a couple to fly over Benghazi? Lives of an Ambassador and three other Americans not important enough Mr. President? Your lily-livered black skin more important than theirs?

Moochelle says I´m going on a separate vacation. It has been weeks and weeks since I have been on a vacation.

All of this excessive spending is to impress the natives. They will be told GOD is coming to visit. There will be drums and women with big butts dancing. There will be goats roasted over dung fires. Most importantly there will be billions tossed out like candy to corrupt leaders and the immigration floodgates will be opened to welfare paradise in America.

It costs what it costs for a president to travel and I don’t like seeing security arrangements published. The real issue with Obama’s Africa trip is that it is an unserious trip, something which is typical for him.

He’s bypassing Nigeria, a major US oil supplier, for a second time even though they are running point and spending blood and treasure fighting Al Qaeda in Mali. Rumor has it State sees their aggressiveness with Jihadists as heavy handed and State is also not pleased anti-homosexual legislation is moving through their legislative branch. Obama is not scheduled to attend the African Union meeting of heads of state in Addis, although word is they are scrambling to add that to the trip.

Interesting that there was no leak of the budget associated with or military assets positioned for the first trip of his second term to Israel, or his trip to Lough Erne, Northern Ireland, next week for the G8 Summit...

This trip is a travesty. There is no lucid justification for it and the obscene expense under any rational theory of responsible government engaged in effective foreign relations activities. Obama is imperious, arrogant, and tone-deaf. How can you furlough government employees, reduce government services, caterwaul about the budget, and then spend $100,000,000.00 on a monumental boondoggle for God´s sake? You want to raise my taxes, so I can help pay for this huge waste!

#27, I´m with you, security arrangements need to stay classified. That said, how much can someone get done in a few hours of meeting time? Obama is only in each country for a day, two at the most. What´s he going to do, wake up, eating breakfast, shake hands with the locals, then go sightseeing? On my dime?! I could be using that money to pay off my student loans. Hey, there´s a thought...

You know, there was a link on Drudge yesterday to a 600 page arrest docket and the headline read "Arrest him when he visits".

There is an active arrest warrant for Obama for war crimes, the moments he lands. Perhaps his security and all of the people is out of the fear that someone may actually try to act on it?

Just like he blatantly refused to adhere to a legal court subpoena, he is laughing in their faces and going to visit while he knows they have an active warrant for his arrest. He is daring them to try it.

Just think he is off to Africa with only his hundreds of security and 24 hour air cover to surround him with glory. Where will he place the bullet proof windows he needed for the Queen´s palace and every hotel he graces.

As the vast majority of AA recipients, regardless of gender, race, and orientation, when they are given advancements not based on merit or effort, they never learn how to perform, but rather to BS and pose.

This is a posing event to the 9th world and his core black base that he is a broutha.

BO, Michelle and 90% of his AA administration never earned their positions.

It is no different than trusting an AA educated and employed cario-surgeon with open-heart surgery.

And we have sub-par AA qualified people representing our nation during one of the most terrifying times since 9/11.

Their motto..."be haaappy don´ worry".

OK, can we please stop pretending biofuel made from corn is helping the planet and the environment? With huge subsidies for ethanol in gasoline, with all States now selling gasoline having some ethanol blend, and a general misconception that these biofuels are green, corn ethanol has taken on a $30 billion/yr life of its own. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released two of its Working Group reports at the end of last month (WGI and WGIII), and their short discussion of biofuels has ignited a fierce debate as to whether they’re of any environmental benefit at all.

It´s all happening at the zoo today, Easter Sunday in Sydney, where Prince George met a cute little critter named for him and the world got to see the royal baby for a second official appearance. After Easter services at the Anglican cathedral in Sydney in the morning, Prince William and Duchess Kate changed clothes, collected George and headed for the Taronga Zoo, Sydney´s harbor-side menagerie of Australia´s wonderfully quirky wildlife. It was another beautiful sunny day and thousands had been waiting to see them for hours before the zoo opened. Eventually there were so many people, the zoo closed to further

NEW YORK - Last week´s Heartbleed Internet bug revealed a startling fact. The software protecting banks, email, social media and government is maintained by only a few people. They´re all volunteers. And only one does it as a full-time job. Their labor of love is OpenSSL, a free program that secures a lot of online communication. And it was a tiny coding slip-up two years ago that caused the Heartbleed bug, a hole that allows attackers to peer into computers. The bug forced emergency changes last week at major websites like Facebook (FB, Fortune 500), Google (GOOG, Fortune 500) and Yahoo (YHOO,

People who have accounts on the enrollment website for President Barack Obama´s signature health care law are being told to change their passwords following an administration-wide review of the government´s vulnerability to the confounding Heartbleed Internet security flaw. Senior administration officials said there is no indication that the HealthCare.gov site has been compromised and the action is being taken out of an abundance of caution. The government´s Heartbleed review is ongoing, the officials said, and users of other websites may also be told to change their passwords in the coming days, including those with accounts on the popular

JACKSON, Wyo. – A slow-motion disaster continued unfolding in the Wyoming resort town of Jackson on Saturday, as a creeping landslide that split a hillside home threatened to swallow up more houses and businesses. The ground beneath the 100-foot hillside had been slowly giving way for almost two weeks before the downward movement accelerated in recent days. With rocks and dirt tumbling down, officials suspended efforts to shore up the slope and said they were uncertain what else could be done. "When is it going to go? How long is it going to last? AUSTIN — Documents related to Sen. Wendy Davis’ work as a lawyer for the North Texas Tollway Authority are part of an FBI inquiry of the agency, Travis County officials say. It’s not clear whether Davis’ work for the tollway authority is a focus of the FBI or only part of the material collected in connection with its look into tollway agency operations. The Travis County district attorney’s office said last month that details from its review of a 2012 complaint that a rival filed about Davis’ legal and political activities were “the subject of an open investigation” by the

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. But not everyone has accepted it. Cliven Bundy’s armed standoff with the National Park

Growing up, Santangelo found she was always able to keep up with the guys and enjoyed playing hockey on all boys’ teams. But when she joined the Marines, Santangelo found the playing field changed; she was segregated into female-only training units and as a woman, was relegated to less strenuous physical training than her male counterparts. And that’s why,
