HGTV: Use American Flag
as Table Cloth

FOX News, by Todd Starnes

Original Article

Posted By:CEP, 6/12/2013 10:46:29 AM

HGTV viewers are expressing outrage after the network suggested they use American flags as table cloths for Fourth of July celebrations, calling offensive, un-American and an insult to the American military. “Using an American flag as a table cloth dishonors all Americans who love Old Glory – especially those who gave their lives defending it,” one viewer wrote. “No one dies for a table cloth.”

Comments:
Such disrespect, different generation, no idea of what is right or wrong. But yet they seem to know everything. Sad commentary on what is passing for citizenship today.

HGTV this is very offensive to me and to most true Americans. Not surprised YOU would do something so disgraceful. Don´t you (like Oprah) endorse mulatto son and the rat party just as the majority of MFM do? bye bye HGTV, you have had nothing worth watching in a very long time.

FTA: ´´Using an American flag as a table cloth dishonors all Americans who love Old Glory – especially those who gave their lives defending it.´´

I must disagree with that statement. It dishonors HGTV and anyone who does what they said, and it shows lack of respect for the flag and the country.

No one can put dishonor on me or you, we would have to do that ourselves. We can only watch those people with pity.

This doesn´t surprise me now coming from HGTV. When they started they had wonderful decorators on like Kitty Bartholomew and others who gave great tips and had wonderful shows. Now they aren´t much different from Foodnetwork who is filled with leftists who love Michelle 0bama. Their new "designers" are a joke.

If you want to decorate patriotically - walls, tables, podiums, etc., you use BUNTING.

Unles you´re the President, then you use make a picket fence of U.S. flags to stand in front of.

I may be in the minority, but I honestly believe this was not out of disrespect.

Ignorance and stupidity, yes, and that is still no excuse. Note in the article they say about going on and hanging the flag with pride, so they are either being insanely cynical and horrifically disrespectful, or just ignorant.

I just think this is amazingly dumb. There are beautiful pre-made red white and blue tablecloths with stars and the whole 9 yards that are very inexpensive. Or, you could buy white, red and blue paper tablecloths and fashion a covering with your own alternating spread of festive and patriotic colors.

And hang that flag outside in the wind!

I don´t think it was deliberate either, just an the new bunch of tin ears at HGTV who couldn´t spell patriotism much less care respect our flag—the new programming geniuses telling us what we want. That they think it´s okay to use America´s flag on a picnic table in no way is surprising.

HGTV is growing steadily worse. Example: Changing "Amy" from a pleasant woman contractor into a pathetic woman who I can only hope will hang up her tool belt so people can forget this latest horror in which she´s starring. JGTV gave her a pouty botoxed lower lip, a surly expression intended to be sexy, dialogue like "hustle, hustle…we´re in…we´re blowing people´s minds," changing her long, thin hair to a cheap shade of red and redoing her into a pathetic Dickens´ character complete with large, loving cup ears looking as though she she needs a good meal and a warm coat. HGTV is presenting her striding out in what has to be one of the worst promo packages in history apparently intended to make us want to watch a "waif with a hammer" rebuild a house while the owners enjoy a 5 hour dinner. Why?

The single best contributor on HGTV continues to be Canada´s Sarah Richardson. She´s likable, she´s herself, and she´s talented.

Food Network is going the same way. Giada´s been turned into a cook with cleavage who says "yummy" in every other sentence and phony pronounces words like spaghetti (speegheetee} and ricotta as (reecoatah) on and on...gag. Interesting to hear those who have encountered the real Giada as they tell of their astonishment hearing her using the kind language found in a truck stop without cessation. A woman who reportedly heard her said, "I learned three new words, who knew?"

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
