´I Was Born This Way´
American Thinker, by Clayton E. Cramer

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 6/9/2013 11:57:27 AM

One of the more effective arguments used by those arguing for same-sex marriage and sexual orientation anti-discrimination laws is that homosexuals have no choice in the matter -- that sexual orientation is something that you are born with, and you can´t change it. The claim is that this is a natural part of human variability, no different from skin color or hair color or how tall you are. (snip) There is pretty persuasive evidence that what determines sexual orientation, at least for some homosexuals, is environmental.

It seems pretty obvious, some are born "this way", some choose to. No absolutes in the discussion as a result.

If it is true that some are ´born this way´, they had better hope and pray some researcher never, ever finds that gene because then the genocide of abortions will be their nightmare.

Imagine if science identifies the "gay gene"?

I wonder if they´d even publicize the fact they found it, and if they did how many abortions would it lead to?

We live in fallen world - everyone is born with a sinful nature. Not everyone struggles with the same sins. One may have a propensity to lie. The next may tend to steal. Someone else might just be lazy. This doesn´t mean we should just accept these behaviors as okay.

If science identifies the "gay gene", then all homosexuals will automatically become "pro-life". Of course then everybody else will then follow along.

Militant gays will never admit it but their claims of genetic origin of homosexuality by definition excludes anyone who falls under the various pathologies known as transsexualism.

In other words, ´born this way´ directly contradicts ´wasn´t born this way but will mutilate myself to get where I want.´

It´s also prima facie evidence that the LGBTQXYZ1234 alliance is strictly political. Being dropped off on the Island Of Misfit Toys does not confer automatic solidarity since the conditions vary so greatly.

Actually, a genetic researcher claimed to have pinned this down in the 80s. He said that people are, in fact, born gay — just as people are born blind and without limbs. In other words, "gay" is a birth defect.

He didn´t give an opinion on what percentage of the homosexual population might have this trait, but he did say it could be reversed in the womb.

If I recall correctly, this was reported in Time magazine, which dutifully quoted some gay activist who accused the geneticist of practicing genocide.

Amazing how this guy and his research seem to have vanished.

If homosexuality is genetic, the question becomes why are they still around. They constitutes a very small part of the population, and, by definition cannot naturally reproduce. If you accept evolution and natural selection, they should have become extinct centuries ago.

Someone I once knew developed a theory of homosexuality after working with people who had dissociative identity disorder (DID or multiple personalities). She said that every person she had counciled with this illness had been abused either sexually or physically or both. And every one of her patients had at least one homosexual personality. She thought that a homosexual was somebody for whom that personality was dominant, although she allowed that there might be other reasons.

This was not a scientific study, nor could she get funding or permission to do such a study. In fact, she knew better than to even mention it among her colleagues. But it is an interesting observation.

If it is true that child abuse makes one homosexual and it is also true that child abusers have been abused, then we have to ask ourselves what is happening in our culture.

I don´t think it´s an effective argument to justify homosexuality and same-sex marriage on the basis of being "born that way." Otherwise, anyone with aberrant behavior could use the born-that-way defense to justify his or her perverted actions.

For example, a kleptomaniac could use the born-that-way rationale to justify his or her action, to avoid punishment. Some people are addicted to kleptomania, but society doesn´t condone it just because they "were born that way."

Even if homosexuals were "born that way," homosexuality should still be an unacceptable perversion of the natural order, and efforts should be made to turn around those who engage in it.

Some people get married to a person of the opposite sex, have biological children, but then several years later they "come out" as homosexuals. How do you explain that using the "born that way" argument?

Other than our skin color, whatever we are or will become in this life is the result of a decision. And sometimes that decision isn´t too carefully considered.

So if homosexuals are born that way and can´t change, how do they explain someone born a man, with male sex organs, male hormones, male DNA but yet insists he´s a woman.
Can´t we make that same argument? You were born that way and can´t change?

I believe some are "born that way" but a significant number of homosexuals are a result of child sexual abuse. I doubt very much whether anyone would choose to be homosexual, except in a same-sex confined situation.

If any part of a person´s personality is the result of any kind of abuse, professionals have a DUTY to do what they can to restore that person to pre-abuse status. If that bugs advocates of the condition, that´s just too darn bad.

Let´s give Mr. Cramer the benefit of the doubt and say that it´s very possible that CSA children turn out gay more often than those who were not sexually abused as children.

But one thing is never mentioned: If you´re going to look for environmental causes for homosexuality, why stop at CSA? It´s been my contention that the lack of fathers in the home during formative childhood years tends to make boy children behave and adopt habits that they see most often, i.e., feminine behavior, which later translates into acting out in a feminized manner.

This doesn´t explain lesbianism, granted, but it is as much a possibility as CSA for explaining away homosexuality.

This is important:

The psychiatric profession had attempted to explain homosexuality as a result of many different causes, none of which turned out to be generally correct -- and, of course, none of which led to a cure.

Cure? If homosexuals wanted a "cure" they would do what drug addicts or alcoholics do; stop the behavior. If homosexuality was a disease or mental illness, which I don´t believe it is, nor do I believe it´s genetic but rather a choice, a vaccine or medication would be in R&D for it right now. But no one is working on a "cure" because it´s not curable except by behavior modification.

While in sheer numbers, it seems the whole world is gay these days, that doesn´t mean it is right nor moral. Consensus makes horrible truth.

With the exception of militant gays, I like gay people and find them to be no more nor less nice to be around than I find heteros. But I do not accept that their lifestyle is the new normal nor do I believe that homosexuality is something you´re "born with."

If they were indeed "born this way", then that would mean that God had given them a desire to love a certain gender without providing the required physical equipment to carry out that love. That would mean that God had either made a mistake or that He is a cruel practical joker. Neither of these two options do I accept.

I´m with #16... CSA ADDS to the pool of ´homosexuals´ but is likely not the sole cause.

I pose this question: Are we likely to get more CSA or less as we ´mainstream´ homosexuals?

In which case (I know you know the answer) we´ll get more of this.

And: Don´t you think that Michelle should want to stamp out lesbianism just because it makes women more likely to be obese?

I lay blame to all of the additives in food, etc; animals, their food, hormones for rapid growth, etc. Almost every processed food product has additives which are consumed. The reasoning of being born as such I feel would be infinitely miniscule.
One needs to look back in time...
Besides, I get tired of their lifestyle being broadcasted on a daily basis and what doe they think they will achieve by their "coming out of the closet". Enough already. Should the rest of us on a daily basis proclaim to the public that we live a "straight" life?

If it is DNA/genetics than it is not a morally deprived choice because it would not involve a choice. Seems like we are heading toward a showdown with the Bible. If the Bible is wrong on this then it destroys its credibility as a moral guide.
Maybe the militant homosexual campaign has some value after all. My faith rests in the word of God so let the show begin. They can only fail which will then allow us to judge the behavior in more reality based terms - for example in placing limited funds, adoption of children, etc.

My view is that all men are capable of homosexual acts but not for the same reason. A man who is naturally homosexually oriented (ie has automatic same-sex feelings and pursues them in an everyday environment) is different from a man who becomes homosexually oriented in the absence of an available female partner. The latter is a pure libidinous phenomenon that disregards gender, the former is a gender-specific equilibrium where, despite the presence of women in his environment, a man naturally gravitates towards men. Such distinctions are often forgotten in discussions of male sexuality.

One of the things that particularly annoys me about discussions of sexuality is that adjectives have become nouns in this twisted world of loose phraseology. The words "homosexual" and "heterosexual" are adjectives and yet they are frequently used as nouns to identify people. Loose phraseology and identity politics - the stalwart pillars of modern-day liberalism.

I was born to think homosexuality is a sin... so it´s OK?

When sex was pulled out of marriage became a separate entity, sex with anybody or anything can be justified because "it feels good" and it´s "based on love" and "I can´t deny my emotions, they tell me what is right and wrong." Lust and emotions dictate morals.

Return sex exclusive to marriage between husband and wife and we won´t have the unwed mothers, fatherless children, homosexuality, pedophilia, incest and bestiality that we have now.

Yeah, I know, not going to happen; there is too much pleasure being a pervert.

Perhaps a study of Muslim men in Afghanistan where more than half the men practice homosexual sexual practices, though married and where young boys are regularly raped in their madrasahs schools would explain not only their willingness to become suicide bombers but their anger.

When the Koran teaches sex with children is appropriate and not a sin if one is the initiator one cannot help but believe that Afghanistan like other Muslim countries are so backward as to be beyond help and not worth American blood and treasure being shed on behalf of savages. Christianity may be the only escape from such evil.

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. In reality, this is a woman who is professionally defined almost entirely by two men in her life, both of whom happen to have

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Friday stood by his statement regarding embattled Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, saying on KSNV’s What’s Your Point?, “If anyone thinks by any figment of their imagination that what happened up there last week was just people rallying to somebody that was oppressed, 600 people came in armed. They had practiced. They had maneuvered.” Reid continued, “They knew what they were doing. They set up snipers in strategic locations with sniper rifles. They had assault weapons. They had automatic weapons. And they boasted about the fact that they put women and children, in fact one
