Obama administration takes first step in
probe on who leaked info about phone,
mail tracking

Fox News, by Catherine Herridge*

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 6/9/2013 2:26:52 AM

he Obama administration has taken a first step toward opening a criminal investigation into the purported leaking of classified documents related to the federal government tracking Americans´ phone calls and emails, a source familiar with the high-level discussions told Fox News on Saturday. The source said a “criminal report has been filed,” which begins the process. The FBI and Justice Department would likely be involved in such a probe, which is expected to focus on British and U.S. newspapers including The Guardian.

Comments:
It kind of reminds me of OJ posting a reward for the "real" killer. This country is in SO much trouble.

The first step would be to USE the PRISM intercepts that were criminally obtained against American citizens. Since the "leaked" information was given to a foreign [UK] newspaper, try using the dreaded Patriot Act. Don´t forget to get a legal warrant because they may sue US in return. The "Guardian" sounds like a front for terrorist activity since it obviously wants to topple the paranoid 0bamaNation. [What ever happened to Echelon?]

It´s pretty amazing how Obama wasn´t the least bit concerned over wikileaks which spewed millions of bits of insider state dept.info around the world but he´s all up in arms over who possibly leaked the NSA story.I still say wikileaks was an inside job that went way beyond pvt. Manning, who´s now just a hapless fall guy for these creeps. They also shut the door on wikileaks when they were about to spill the beans on the banking industry.

No matter what thesepeopleget caught doing, they have a flimsy excuse ready in 5 minutes, feed it to their lapdogs in the media and half the country believes them.

Bush took the war on terror seriously but he had armies of lawyers, check and double check everything he did to make sure it was legal, even water boarding.Pelosi didn´t object to water boarding at all when she was briefed but developed amnesia about it later when they made a big deal out of it.

There´s many forms of torture, including persistent mental anguish which Obama imposes on this country every day. We don´t even know the half of the corrupt things he does behind the scenes and there will never be a paper trail on any of it.

#5, your last sentence is spot on and is the scariest part. Because we have been legitimately distrustful of this Administration, we view everything we see with a jaundiced eye and everything we don´t see is equally troubling.

I am waiting for someone, some group in Congress, somebody, to take this Administration on and tear it to shreds.

NOT after the person who "tracked" all the American customers of Verizon?

Oh -- that´s kinda like the fox watching the hen house.

Hmmmmmmm -- NOW that´s a good way to describe obama´s administration. THE HEN HOUSE....with all those women -- hilldabeast, big sis, powers, lerner, mooochelle, that obamacare witch and I´ll add eleanor clift of McLauglin @ PBS.

Here´s a hint for the politically dense....OBAMA LEAKED THE PHONE AND INTERNET TRACKING PROGRAMS!

Why? To overload the media and public and distract from the real crimes and malfeasance in Benghazi and IRS scandals. We now know that besides denying conservative groups for 501(c)(4) status, the IRS was targeting Romney contributors for audits and was leaking confidential information--a felony. And we absolutely know the WH knew this in spring 2012, and it appears that they knew in March 2011 as well--that is, if they didn´t originate it.
The WH took no action then or even now. No one was fired. The harassment of conservatives was allowed to continue.
As a minimum, that makes Obama a co-conspirator after the fact to a felony. An impeachable offense.
And behind everything in Benghazi, we will find an illegal gun-running operation by the CIA. Ollie North, anyone?
By contrast, the NSA program is not so clear-cut, and has a lot of gray. Diverting attention to the NSA scandal distracts from the real crimes that could impeach him.
At the end of the day, the NSA scandals will suck up all the oxygen, and it will be concluded that "they weren´t so bad."

A brilliant strategy to use with a lapdog media and a LoFo public.

It´s one of two things: 0b@ma had this leaked to take the heat off of IRS, Benghazi, DOJ, et al; or: he took a well-intentioned program for tracking terrorists, and has been using it to track and target the people who oppose him, like he used the IRS to target and stop people who oppose him.

At this stage of the game, I wouldn´t place money on which scenario is most likely, but the second seems more in sync with the Kenyan Marxist´s goals.

He doesn´t give a tinker´s damn about keeping the country safe, but he would use [and has] any means possible to stop the people who oppose his destruction of the nation.

When you´ve got a cabinet officer telling the nation that the true threat is Christians and soldiers, what do you think is going to happen? We didn´t see this coming? 0b@ma wants a private civilian security force, better funded and equipped than the military.

The only thing that surpirses me is that one of us --We, The People, haven´t been brought up on charges for something we posted here or at any number of other forums where we post, because you know the Kenyan´s henchmen are looking at us --and probably know where to find us.

If he were on the side of the terrorists, he would be arming DHS to the teeth and spying on Americans.

We are the only people left on Earth who can foil his grandiose plans.

You could be correct 14, 17, 19. It would fit the "best defense is a good offense" mantra/modus. The military sex scandals are another red herring to take heat off of Obama and hurt them instead. If makes me furious they corral those military generals and admirals to Capitol Hill to take a communist brow beating for political reasons. Even the pub´s attempt to defend them have been mostly lame and MSNBC makes fun of their defenses, like Mr Chambliss. Sexual harassment has to be going on all the time in the military and it is just now getting press? Hmmm. How ironic.

It would be hilarious if Obama could not find the source of the leaks or even who they talked to overseas, that supposedly being the whole reason for their(NSA) existence/foreign terrorism. That would show all too well they gather data on the wrong people.

Obama after another domestic terrorist attack: "Where´s Security adviser Rice, Rice? Rice? Anyone, Rice?". Aid: "She got blown up by a terrorist sir". ha ha.

The PRISM/Verizon leaks are a twofer: (1) they take heat off of the IRS, Benghazi and DoJ scandals, and (2) make Obama look tough on terrorism, in an undertaking the Republicans will back him on (well, Amnesty Graham and John the Pain will, the two Republicans the media knows anyway). Once it all gets moshed together, it´ll be "the Republicans back Obama because he had national security in mind and those conservatives would whine no matter what the One did", and it´ll all fade away into the wine cups of the next big NYT Christmas party bash...

Obama has perfected the "Guide for the Married Man" defense. This was a movie mad a long time ago with Walter Matthau and Robert Morse (of Mad Men fame). If I remember it correctly, Morse is instructing Matthau how to cheat on your wife and not get caught.

Morse does tell Matthau want to do if he does get caught. You see a scene where Matthau´s wife catches him in bed with another woman. Morse tells him to deny everything (even though she catches him in the act). He does that and the wife keeps hounding him because he cheated and she caught him. Matthau acts like nothing happened. Eventually, the wife capitulates and asks Matthau what he wants for dinner.

This is the Obama/Holder defense. It´s worked for every scandal (Fast and Furious, Benghazi, IRS, APgate, ...).

The choice of the Guardian as a leak repository is a bit puzzling. It´s been a left-wing newspaper and a darling of the unions since its inception, in 1821.

Recall, though, that this is the same newspaper that brought down the News of the World with scandalous revelations of that paper´s hacking activities.

The Guardian will be tickled pink at all the attention--it´s been trailing the Daily Mail (online international news outlet) for some time as well as the Telegraph.

It´s time we all decided what the 2nd Amendment was created for and to apply it before we get to the point that there are not enough of us left to do so.

You know, there´s a genuine poetic justice type of solution here that seems to have eluded everyone...subpoena the records of their own Boundless Informant system to find out who was talking to whom on each of these scandals. Benghazi. IRS. All of it. Who. When. The whole network. The timing. etc.

Then match it against the testimony key players have given. There is no doubt in my mind that the very system they´ve created will in fact ensnare the creators when turned against them with a legal court order.

Big kudos to #5. The "Bush did it too" is what they appear to be trying to do in order to lessen the outrage. The difference between W. and Obama, besides skin color and party, is W. had/has a sense of right and wrong, morality and immorality, Constitutional vs unConstitutional, American vs unAmerican, freedom and liberty vs chains and slavery, and a democratic republic vs a totalitarian socialism. Further to #41’s reply to #40, and well worth repeating, are these prescient observations from #39:

“The difference between W. and Obama, besides skin color and party, is W. had/has a sense of right and wrong, morality and immorality, Constitutional vs. unConstitutional, American vs. unAmerican, freedom and liberty vs. chains and slavery, and a democratic republic vs. a totalitarian socialism. As for the choice of the Guardian: First, breaking the story in a non-U.S. outlet ensures that it will have legs, and perhaps be deemed more trustworthy by U.S. readers. Second, in the Henhouse’s (hat-tip to #13!) view, anything that appears to boost the co-religionist Guardian’s rep will be seen to diminish the credibility of the Daily Mail and especially of the Torygraph, which of course are home to many of our worthy right-side allies, including James Delingpole, Nile Gardiner, and Melanie Phillips.

Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. "Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday

She may not look anywhere near her 76 years but Jane Fonda says she is well aware of her age. The Hollywood legend – who has made her career in an industry which isn´t exactly kind to aging actresses - admits she has been brought to tears on more than one occasion recently as she comes to terms with her own mortality. In a thoughtful blog post entitled ´Crying´, which has since been removed, Jane wrote: ´[I´ve been thinking], how come my tears are so close to the surface? And I’ve come to feel it has to do with age

“It’s Time”. That’s the message seen for the past few weeks on the 12 Years A Slave billboard as you drive on to the 20th Century Fox lot. And since the film earned nine Oscar nominations it has frequently been the slogan of choice for the Fox Searchlight contender in newspaper and television ads. A highly emotional close-up of star Chiwetel Ejiofor as the man forced into slavery and just two words to accompany it: “It’s Time”. A tale of two Marylands: Western Maryland and the rest of the state. Fed up with high taxes and gun control, some people want to break away and go it alone. Mary Bubala explains why they’re trying to form their own state. There’s a storm brewing over the beautiful mountains and valleys of Western Maryland. More and more people in those five counties say Governor Martin O’Malley is out of touch and they want to break away from the rest of the state. “I can’t imagine Maryland without Western Maryland,” said Governor Martin O’Malley.

Two hungry fan bases and the wealth of the New York metropolitan area had some guessing that Super Bowl XLVIII would turn out to be the most expensive ticket in Super Bowl history. However, judging from the reaction of the resale ticket market in the past 24 hours, it could turn out to be one of the least expensive. On Friday, nine days before the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks meet at MetLife Stadium, the cheapest ticket to buy for the Super Bowl was $1,779 on NFL Ticket Exchange, the league´s official resale site. That´s $409 cheaper than it was

Former Lakeside Little League coach Alan Beck told Fox40.com the incident occurred last spring, when the teen threw his helmet up in victory after scoring a winning run, allegedly striking and tearing Beck´s Achilles tendon. The lawsuit seeks $500,000 for pain and suffering and more than $100,000 for lost wages and medical bills. Beck told Fox40.com he only wanted his attorney to pursue $20,000

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast
