Attkisson’s Problem and the Public’s
Commentary Magazine, by Jonathan S. Tobin

CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson has a bigger problem than the possibility that someone or some government agency has been tampering with her computer. Last week the investigative journalist acknowledged publicly that her work computers had been compromised. But as Dylan Byers makes clear in his piece about Attkisson in Politico published on Friday, her bigger problem is the fact that a lot of people at CBS think there’s something wrong with a journalist who is willing to report aggressively about the Obama administration’s shortcomings and scandals. That her willingness to push hard to find out the truth

Should be a must read. We all know the msm is biased that´s why we don´t watch, trust or read their garbage. They all know we know and don´t care. It´s the lo-fo voters who don´t know and still trust the msm for their news and that´s all the msm propagandists care about. The msm has become the propaganda arm of the new radical leftist Democratic party. Very sad day in America.

Not much point in being a reporter if you have to surrender your free speech rights.

We say they are, they say they are not. Biased, that is. And we are both right!

How is this possible? Because two wholly different and distinct paradigms are involved.

We think that the responsibility of the news media is to report the facts and to function as a public watchdog to keep a close eye on and to investigate the shenanigans of the powerful - particularly the scoundrels Americans elect to represent them at all levels of government.

They -the current crop of journalists, editors, producers and publishers- think their responsibility is to promote and protect the right-thinking narrative they have all their lives been led to believe is the only valid, ethical, socially acceptable interpretation of the world.

These utterly distinct frames of reference, contexts, world-views, paradigms and sets of unexamined assumptions and beliefs are the cause of the confusion.

Thanks to decades of effective Leftist indoctrination at all levels of the educational establishment, journalists and educators have come to view their role, not as purveyors of information and guardians of traditional values, but as agents of change, a toned-down and somewhat muted revolutionary vanguard whose goal should be not to understand the world but to change it.

...a fundamental shift in the way many in the mainstream media think about their profession. This won’t be a surprise to their conservative critics, who have long thought the major networks and leading dailies are hopelessly mired in liberal groupthink.

There you have the crux of the matter: Liberal groupthink is considered by those engaging in it to be "normal", while those who don´t think that way are somehow outside the mainstream or actually mentally-ill.

Recall someone saying (wish I could remember who it was) that anyone who thinks that manmade global warming isn´t happening is "mentally ill."

Were life fair, Attkisson would be kept on as CBS´ ombudsman, as it were. But life, and liberals, are not fair -- step outside their liberalism and you are the one who is suspect.

It started in elementary school, history and fare play was only seen through the eyes of leftist historians, then the Journo´s wannabees got to Colombia J-School and the left ruled, conservatives were mocked and middle America values were determined to be Racist and unhip and abusing Conservatives was found to be better than socially except able. Finally they get to the NYTs and WASHPOST after their lefty professor made a phone call to a certain editor who got them the job by telling that editor this kid has his mind right as in Leftist mind. So after that you think any conservatives will be running news rooms, especially when the word is out Don´t be like Attkinsson shes a trouble maker, bad career move. My only question is, how did she get through the gauntlet.

But if Sharyl Attkisson’s reporting about Obama’s scandals is seen as out of the mainstream or excessive by her colleagues, then that is a warning to all that CBS and other mainstream institutions are not be trusted to tell the truth.

CONGRATULATIONS Jonathan!! You just won the 2013, Howie Kurtz, Firm-Grasp-of-the-Obvious Award! Never before has any reporter, journalist or Op-Edster placed as many things in an article that have been well known since Ronald Reagan was president (in fact, you may have even out-done Howie himself!) and made them seem like YOU were the one who figured it all out. Our newest Real Sleuth of Genius, you sir, have taken the obvious to what the awards committee thought were only achievable by Howard Kurtz alone. AMAZING!!! Well done!

Durbin and the Pathetic Juan Williams on Chris Wallace´s show yesterday defending the indefensible] - how about a nice job offer from Fox to Sharyl Attkisson and how about getting rid of the Mind-Numbing, Stomach-Turning Williams

The article and the posts all have excellent points. The Left has its paradyms and we have ours.

Now, what are we going to do about it?

For my part, I have not watched a network nightly or weekly "news" program in decades. In breaking news situations, I do watch Fox news keeping in mind that 80% of Fox "reporters" contribute to democratic candidates and causes. I have not purchased any newspapers, choosing to get my news on the internet, mainly from CFP and UK papers. But this doesn´t seem to be sufficient.

Can we have a "news" network that actually has conservative "reporters," too? We have Fox with some conservative analyists and talking heads (which is better than the alternative), but we need reporters that maintain the conservative world view that corruption should not be excused for a greater good, and ineptness and greed on all levels in government is wrong and must be exposed.

The Left has its partisans, why can´t we conservatives?

FTA "That many journalists are starting to rethink their protective attitude toward Obama in the wake of this season of scandals, and in particular because of the shocking treatment of both the Associated Press and Fox News’s James Rosen, is to be commended."

What really annoys me is that these same people, now concerned about the administration´s behavior didn´t give a hang about the civil rights of "ordinary" citizens being trampled all over. It is disgusting.

Since Sharyl is a true journalist -- FOX news should hire her.....

Whinning about how biased the MSM is doesn´t get US anywhere....

WE all know that to be a fact -- so -- move on to other forms of information....

Until the goooooberment gets it´s hands on the internet -- it´s a great source for news. The Brits have a handle on the truth and Canadian News is spot on (mostly)....as is the Jerusalem News. Stay focused and don´t be discouraged.

As Judge Judy says -- "you don´t have to have a good memory if you tell the truth"..... I think this regime is having trouble remembering what they said and when they said it....

I´m so glad to see this article is a Must Read. Ms. Attkisson is one courageous lady who just happens to be a journalist. She and James Rosen should form a team like Woodward and Bernstein and write a best-selling book which can be made into a movie. It seems that it is the only way to get lofos to understand that their freedoms are being taken away by the mulatto in the WH and the punks he has appointed.

Enough of this CBS journalism standards falderal. What America wants to hear from CBS is where the Obamas will take their two darling daughters on vacation this summer. It must be difficult, finding a place good enough for them.

I know! CBS should create a new TV show, and let America vote on where to take them. Awesome!! That´s an idea even better than Fox´s Idol.

Attkisson should (and probably does) thank the Lord every day that Fox News exists. They are at her back although she can not even name her fellow journalists at Fox who share her ability to talk truth to the powers that be. I think of the day when she can thank them for validating her work. And we should thank her for her courage.

Socialistic blindness, non critical acceptance of all anti investigative, major media is frightening. Reporting is, Questioning Of Fact. CBS NBC ABC CNN etc robots question NOTHING. They all recite the same catch phrases, day by day, and all look the other way, blindly, avoid digging for the truth. Pretty boring. It’s called propagandizing, and it’s the Communist way. One Story, No Questions, everybody in major media spouts the same unquestioning drivel. Just wear good makeup, great clothes, look good. That’s it. Then, after acting, get in a limo and go to a VIP party. Mistake Number One is giving these destroyers a “pass” by calling them “liberal”. Liberal means freedom, and destructive people aren’t “liberal”. Call them what they ARE: socialist, communist, collectivist, statist, fascist, authoritarian, Marxist, totalitarian, red, commie, fellow traveler, big brother, pinko, on and on (PRACTICE these accurate words!). Ann Coulter, stupidly calls bad people “liberal”. She’s told us she wants to destroy the word. For all her good work, she is plain loser. Why is she afraid to call them their real names (as above)? Also, why does this author, Jonathan Tobin, call these robots liberal? Does Jonathan think propagandists are "liberal"? Was Stalin a liberal? Sheryl Attkisson, that rare Breitbartian pursuer of truth, is on dangerous ground, deserves New Media support 24/7. She can be "suicided". Watch over her valuable life.

Hey, when all of you will understand that the leftists in America repeated the job done by fascists and commies in various countries: they own the media!
The journalists are the same as we are - but they understand from editorial meetings if you don´t want to be blacklisted you have to obey.
Now with obozo´s "Justice" dept and IRS we start to understand that too: obey, obey, obey!
Soon they will add our health"care" to this equation. That will be the peachy end of our freedoms.

A target within the MSM needs to be identified - a particular "news" show, press agency or single "journalist" - where the paper trail of lies and cover-ups for Dear Leader is overwhelming. Then that target needs to be sued. False advertising and criminal negligence are punished in every profession except journalism. That must change. The First Amendment does not grant the MSM the right to deceive the public with impunity. Sue them.

Sharyl Attkisson has a degree in journalism, not English or drama, as most other TV reporters/anchors do. One suspects she was taught ethics, which are not a part of the courses for English or drama degrees.

TV news, indeed all news, is about ratings and sales that drive advertising that supports each medium. As cable has become the WWF of news and political discourse, the others follow suit to hypercharge the atmosphere with polemics, and conservatives/Republicans are the heels in the drama. They´re against everything nice.

As far as "hard news" goes, not long ago people were clamoring for "good news". Well, you´re getting all the good news you can stomach. Not much of it is substantive, but it´s mostly good news, from health and diet tips, to the latest weather fright tease that falls short in reality, to the local warrior coming home to surprise the kids. And after all that, why there´s no time or space for the "bad news" that nobody wants to see/hear anyways. And that´s the way it is...

overpaid robots. Maybe she´ll lead a few more out of their self created lying hell.
Maybe a few news bosses will cop out, too.
Who knows? It is definitely a first time breakthrough within the blinded media on the brink of totally destroying this great
country. The entire msm needs to confess, take big punishment and go through rehab.
Three cheers for Sharyl. Pray she survives.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will leave Tuesday for a four-nation trip to Asia, looking to recharge a focus on the region, an ambitious initiative that’s been sidetracked by domestic politics and international conflicts elsewhere. Yet even as Obama attempts to boost his effort to emphasize U.S. interest in Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention in Ukraine is complicating efforts to reassure Asian nations _ which share the region with an increasingly assertive China - that the U.S. is committed to their security. The administration’s efforts to refocus U.S. policy toward Asia were already being questioned in the region with the departure

One of the Obama administration’s favorite themes is the idea that Republicans have been waging a “war on women.” Though Democrats may overestimate the appeal of this canard, the notion that troglodyte conservatives seek to send American women back to the 19th century has become a form of conventional wisdom, especially in the liberal mainstream media. But though that war is a piece of fakery rooted in the confusion between political liberalism and gender equality, there is little doubt about the reality of another war on women: the one that is being waged by left-wing ideologues against any female Republican

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

Glen Campbell has been suffering from Alzheimer´s for over three years, but the Grammy-winning singer, 78, has recently moved into a facility, PEOPLE has confirmed. The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. In reality, this is a woman who is professionally defined almost entirely by two men in her life, both of whom happen to have

Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
