Why Anthony Weiner Shouldn´t
Bank on Forgiveness in
the New York Mayoral Race

National Journal, by Jill Lawrence

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 5/27/2013 5:37:09 AM

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner´s bid for a second chance in politics is not evincing much sympathy from New Yorkers, starting right at the top. "Shame on us" if the disgraced Democrat is elected mayor of New York City, Gov. Andrew Cuomo told a Syracuse editorial board this week. You´d think Weiner´s sexting sins would pale beside Mark Sanford´s extramarital adventures in Argentina as the AWOL South Carolina governor. And yet Sanford received the blessing of his successor, Gov. Nikki Haley, and has now returned to his old seat in Congress after a campaign heavy on confession and self-flagellation.

Comments:
According to the author, New Yorkers are so much more...well...sophisticated than those SC yahoos, you see. In my non-New Yorker opinion, Weiner won´t be elected, but it will have little to do with "forgiveness" and a lot more to do with his total lack of appeal.

Comparing Anthony Weiner with Mark Sanford is hardly a valid comparison. What Sanford did was wrong, but he´s not a pervert. Weiner denied, denied, denied until Breitbart outed him. But then, New Yorkers always like their liberals, and what Weiner did is no big deal to them. If they elect him, they deserve what they get.

Democratic pols tend to forgive anything and everything, especially if its just about sex. Cuomo has other reasons for his disapproval than some newfound sense if morality. Don´t the Cuomos hate the Clintons? And isn´t Mrs. Weiner Hillary´s special friend?

All I know is, if Weiner is around for more than four hours, we should call a doctor.

All seriousness aside, I think he lacks any sort of electability-likeability, thought didn´t stop Bloomberg.

It really bugs the left that the intolerant right forgave one of it´s people. Now they´re looking for kind of bizarre redemption by a fool like Weiner getting elected to run the biggest city in the country.Weiner doesn´t have a good side to rally around.

Just remember that to the left there is no such thing as sin, it´s only an alternative lifestyle. Marion Barry. Jesse Jackson, Jr. Bill Clinton. Weiner. Drugs, sex, whateva. They´re cool wid it. Just so long as their EBT cards keep getting replenished and they can keep on killing fetuses.

Actually, electing a Weiner would be the perfect metaphor for New York.

Weinert is married to an agent of influence of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood. They are seeking to control NYC and the NYPD.
Wiener was Shumer´sAttack Dog and even Schumer declined to give his endorsement.
Huma is Hilary´s special friend -is that why Benghazi occurred -selling weapons to AQ and trying to cover it up?
Despite being at State she had private clients -who are they?
Who are his clients and what is he selling? NYC?

Never in he history of American politics have we had a congressman or any other elected official send pictures of his private parts to women and girls around the country.

If the left wishes to pretend otherwise, that is no surprise.

Comparing adultery to this perversion is ludicrous. But then, they do have Paula Jones in their history.

Weiner seems to be a perfect mayor for the cesspool we now call New York. He represents perfectly the moral standards. And we know he aspires to take New York down the road further to liberal suicide. Who could be a better poster boy? Like Detroit, who could better commit liberal suicide for New York?

I despise Wiener´s politics and loathed his misconduct throughout. However, Sanford´s conduct was appalling. Neither belongs anywhere near power and public office. I understand the brutal political reality that Sanford was better that Colbert. I do not understand the desire to make a virtue out of necessity. There is a difference between forgiving a sinner and awarding him high office. And if you insist on a moral comparison, Wiener stayed with his wife and child. Sanford ran off with his girlfriend and continues to behave appallingly towards his ex-wife. Both are malignant narcissists.

The contempt that the Eastern elite "ruling" class has for WE common folk and rednecks and yahoos will pale in comparison with the jokes about this pervert sitting in the office of mayor.

What a joke!!

Guess hillary´s support of him will not help. It only reminds everyone of her standing by her pervert husband, bubba clinton, and his abuse of women.

Big difference between Sanford and Weiner. In Sanford´s case, marriages go bad and disenchanted spouses go looking for greener pastures. Sanford´s misfortune is that he went through this while serving as Governor, and he made some foolish choices to try to keep his personal life out of the news. Evidently his wasn´t a fatal sin and the people of his state have shown compassion and understanding towards him and have given him a second chance. What Weiner did was just immature and juvenile, flashing his junk across Twitter to total strangers. He has yet to show any contrition. He just seems to feel he deserves a second chance just because he is who he is. And thus he doesn´t yet deserve that second chance.

I was in NYC in 1996, just long enough to realize that it wasn´t my cup of tea, but still I have great respect for that city simply because it is the home of our hostess, and it was the home town of Jonah Goldberg. In the cold light of dawn I do not think that "Mayor Weiner" will be any worse than Mayor Bloomberg. In fact the availability of ridicule may serve to check his more liberal impulses. However if he is elected, the jokes that are said about the citizen-electorate of NYC may drive the few remaining conservatives to the suburbs. And that could be the final death knel of a great city.

Mentioning Weiner on this day is almost blasphemy, not really, but he is one self destructive, despicable socialist with strong muslim ties in the White House. Hey, wait a minute, he compares well with nanny Bloomberg. Weiner relies on conveniently short memory of the media propagandists.
Hillary and Bill, impeached, caught up in murder, "suicideds", crime, corruptions, obfuscation, sex scandals, secret communist Chinese money donations for spying, and they still walk around making big bucks, like it never happened. Guess it´s okay to run. Wierd Weiner knows the media won´t object, but we can guess he looks amost as bad to the citizenry as phony green demon plundering insider, algore.

Sanford´s desertion of his wife and children was disgraceful and dishonorable, and more than a little ridiculous. (And #4, I doubt his wife has forgiven him.)

Weiner otoh not only committed extremely juvenile acts of indiscretion, but he lied about them, and attempted to blame others.

Which is worse? Neither can be trusted farther than you can spit. Sanford might on rare occasions help win a close vote -- but otherwise, he´s useless.

BUNKERVILLE, NEVADA—The Bundy Ranch roundup has understandably stirred thin-stretched emotions as the federal government seizes cattle belonging to the Bundy family. The family settled in the late 1800’s and has ranched in the area since. The federal government allowed Nevada ranchers to graze their cattle on federal tracts of land adjacent to their private properties for generations. The federal government later created the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to administer and “protect” the vast swaths of federal land—including the land the Bundy family’s livelihood was—and still is—dependent upon. The BLM began restricting ranchers’ usage of federal lands to protect various

On Fox News Sunday, political analyst Brit Hume said that Eric Holder’s claim that his treatment at the hands of Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) at a House hearing this week was unprecedented toward an Attorney General, made him a “crybaby,” and that he and President Barack Obama had in fact benefited “enormously” from being the first African Americans in their respective positions. “This strikes me as kinda crybaby stuff from Holder,” Hume said. “My sense about this is both Eric Holder and Barack Obama have benefited politically enormously from the fact that they are African American and the first to

Let me obliterate a bit of confusion here: the Obama administration attempted to go to war with a rancher in Nevada. Let me amplify a little bit of truth: They tucked tail and have returned home. And let me add a bit of clarity: they had no choice! As the nation began to become familiar with the plight of the family of Cliven Bundy, many of us harkened back to another standoff in which the Federal government attempted to bully it´s outcome: Waco, Texas and the Branch Davidian massacre. It is telling that in the Nevada case the feds pulled out so

They’re both qualified, respectful of each other (shocker!), and represent the vast majority of middle America. So what’s not to like about another Clinton/Bush race for 2016? When you mention the prospect of Clinton vs. Bush 2016 a funny thing happens. First, there is the reflexive response: "Oh no, not again. We don´t need more dynastic politics in this country." But upon further reflection, you realize Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton would be a great race and actually good for the country. Let´s review. QUALIFICATIONS—THEY’VE BOTH GOT THEM. Barack Obama won the presidency because in an election where the premium was on change, it mattered little

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive
