U.S. Military: We Could Have
Saved Ambassador Stevens

American Thinker, by Jonathan Moseley

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 5/25/2013 9:23:49 AM

Elite U.S. troops were completely capable of saving Ambassador Chris Stevens during the Benghazi Consulate attacks on September 11, 2012. Elements of the highly specialized Combatant Commanders In-Extremis (CIF) units are always on alert, on forward deployment, ready to respond. Their job description is to hit the ground in 3 to 5 hours. CIF elements are ready to engage in active combat anywhere in their region, 3 to 5 hours after the call. Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense at the time, either misled the U.S. Congress or was incompetent.

Unfortunately for the dead (and their family and friends who loved them) we will never know for sure. How much better it would have been to tried and failed then to never have tried at all. This administration is shameful on so many levels. How did we get to this point in our country´s history?

More information that leads to the conclusion; all in that facility were meant to die because someone (obama or hillary) decided the mission (gun running?) must be kept from the American people. WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO WERE RESCUED?

I sure obama didn´t want to offend the Libyans by rescuing the Ambassador and Seals without first getting their approval. US citizens around the world are now at risk because of obama´s weakness and political correctness.

Let´s not forget the four Americans killed in Benghazi on Monday. And let´s not forget that some if not all of these deaths may have been prevented.

The bottom line is Obongo abandoned 30+ Americans that night. The Ambassador and Sean Smith were killed early, so it is very doubtful any rescue force could have saved them. Regardless, no effort was made to save the others who were in extremis. Obongo, Panetta and Dempsey are willfully criminally negligent in leaving these people to die. If General Ham either disobeyed an order not to launch a rescue effort or became fed up about waiting for "cross border authority" and begam to launch a rescue, good on him. If he obeyed a "no rescue" order, then he´s also criminally negligent and totally compromised his integrity and honor as an officer.

Did Obozo, Clinton and Panetta order the stand down because they feared for safety of the responders? That´s what Panetta implied. Did they do it because they feared for their own personal safety? No, they were safe and dry in Washington, enjoying their gourmet coffee.

No, they ordered the stand down because they feared the political implications of sending help. It would have undermined Obama´s claim he had Al Queda under control. And that might affect his reelection hopes. They did it for purely partisan political purposes.

Then they obscenely insulted our collective intelligence by spinning a lie about a video. If they had spent half as much time and effort doing their job, defending this country, as they did trying to protect their political a$$es good men would be alive today. Petraeus, General Ham and Rear Admiral Gaouette would still be on the job, and their collective 100 years+ of experience defending this country in uniform would make us safer, not to mention the SEALs who died. Instead we saved the political careers of a community organizer Marxist grifter and a carpetbagging big mouth woman of NO accomplishment.

I´m a Veteran with 12 years in uniform, and I seriously doubt if a country that would elect such slezebags is worth defending.

Who issued the stand down order to both a general and an admiral? Not many people have the clout to do that . . . just the Secretary of Defense and the CinC. The SoD, Leon Panetta appears not to have done it. That leaves the CinC, i.e. Obama as most likely. His whereabouts and contacts that night are unknown. He clearly does not want to take responsibility for that decision probably because it would require him to explain what we were doing there in the first place (I can think of several reasons, all of them nefarious) and that would be embarrassing.

Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally
