Why was the Department
of Homeland Security monitoring
Tea Party IRS demonstrations?

American Thinker, by Sally Zelikovsky

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 5/23/2013 8:09:21 AM

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

Worthy of an investigation by the congressional government oversight committee. Get Big Sis up there "front-and-center."

This has gone beyond scary to surreal. When are the American people going to wake up? If Bush had created this type of police state, with large ammunition purchases that are intended to kill those citizens who lean to the right, there would have been cries for impeachment. Obviously, the DOJ is monitoring Tea Party members and groups very closely. Yet, known terrorists who support Obama get full professorships and tenure at major insititutions.

Little by little he is usurping state authority.

The DHS is monitoring us. Jack Lew (treasury) is TELLING congress there is "no negotiating" over the debt limit. The new energy secretary has declared that his view of global warming is "NOT DEBATABLE". Holder has recused himself the AP scandal. The IRS heads have taken the 5th. The list goes on. Is this not the time to show civil disobedience in large numbers? Congress needs to defund Obamacare and not just vote to repeal it.

Two cars, two men each were monitoring the Mountainside, NJ tea party protest as well. As former law enforcement, I tried to engage them, one was extremely rude, the other was nice.

They should figure out we´re not the problem. The government they work for is.

How much of this have you read in your local papers or seen on the news? An article in the American Thinker won´t point out the dangers of this mal-Administration to the public.

If the Tea Parties needed watching from these government thugs, maybe they could point out all the riots and damaages caused by them in the past. Oh wait, only the left does that.

In April 2009, the Missouri Highway Patrol released a report from Big Sis that cautioned that average US citizens who felt strongly about issues such as Pro-Life, Constitutionally limited government, gun rights and individual liberty could potentially become domestic terrorists. Those with military training were potentially more dangerous. They were going to continue to monitor the skin heads, the anarchists, and other groups with a history of violence, but wanted everyone to take a harder look at these new citizen groups.

When I read this I recalled not too many years ago when all sorts of people were protesting around AIG offices, protesting in front of AIG employee´s homes, and eventually occupying Wall Street.

I think the IRS demonstrators should move from the IRS offices to the homes of IRS empoyees.

The question answers itself. From the beginning, DHS was a bad idea. It´s a shame Bush got sucked into it. There were good reasons for keeping the government´s various law enforcement agencies separate, unfortunately Jamie Gorelick took advantage of a strength and turned it into a weakness. DHS needs to go.

If they just wanted to monitor, it would have been simple to put someone in the crowd incognito, or watch invisibly from an adjacent building.
This was pure and simple armed, uniformed, in your face intimidation.

All conservatives who stand up together are labeled a threat to the brown shirts(obama administration and progressive agenda) . Absolute control of all speech must be maintained. Any movement in opposition to their dogma is expressly targeted for termination by any means. There was a robert young movie about the rise of hitler and how at first he became popular and it was cool to support him, then it became shameful and wrong if you disagreed with him. Finally you were hunted down for imprisonment if you did not join. Sound familiar ? I wish I could remember the name of the movie. In the end he had to flee the country to survive.

Remember this?
"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

The more things change the more they stay the same.

"If Bush had created this type of police state...." But he did, like Nixon, who created federal monsters like EPA, OSHA, and Freddie Mac. Predictably, federal institutions created for the noblest of reasons are either by their nature despotic, or turn that way when the wrong people are at the helm. Republicans have more than played their sorry part in this charade, and should be trusted little more than the Democrats.

#9 put it best: We´re not the problem. Philosophically, and guided by cultural barbarians at the top of the political hierarchy, good has been redefined as evil and evil as good. That´s why the morally serious people in this country have been set upon by packs of sniffing bureaucrats and would be storm troopers like the menacing New Black Panthers "guarding" the polling place in Philadelphia, hoping for a reason to start the bloodbath that Obama friend, ghostwriter, and terrorist Bill Ayers envisioned. At present, they´re attempting to stifle argument or shout us down; in time if they are not stopped they will break our argumentative heads. Where the citizens are afraid of the government, there is tyranny; where the government is afraid of the citizens, there is liberty.

Is there any question anymore that DHS is Obama´s Brownshirt force? These people, who typically operate in the shadows, materialize with orders to intimidate ordinary unarmed citizens. What do you think another million person march onto the Capitol mall would look like? This time they´d be met by these thugs and drones circling overhead.

Excuse me, why is DHS out checking the Tea Party just because they are peacefully demonstrating against a government that is constantly checking on them for no reason, except for political reasons. They aren´t doing anything wrong and are not violent. Get in your fancy police cars and go down to the border and do your real job for a change.

The truth be known, it´s this government and this Administration that is rife with criminal activity and unlawful use of force. They constantly use intimidation tactics against the very people who are actually working and paying the taxes they wantonly waste to buy votes.

Now we are watching our representatives in Congress supporting known criminals who have invaded this country illegally. I have news for them, try representing the American people, who unlike some bureaucrats, follow our laws. Quit supporting criminals because you see them as voters. Send them home and let them get in line.

Until I see some of Obama´s henchmen in jail for crimes committed against innocent American people and impeachment proceedings against him, I won´t believe anything that comes out of our sick government.

They were watching in my state too. It serves several purposes for those who want the US to turn into Venezuala:

-Intimidate protesters and stifle dissent
- Solidify the image of Tea Partiers as dangerous "extremists" in the minds of the lo-fos and moonbats
- Gather info on who to audit next.
- Goad some tea partier into actually doing something illegal, then publicize the heck out of it, and use that to justify more dehumanization, harassment, and intimidation of the regime´s enemies.

I predict a Reichstag fire moment is coming soon.

If you´re honest with yourself, you realize that if Bush had not created DHS, then DHS would not be creating a police state today.

It was short-sighted (or just part of the plan?) to create such a dangerous threat to our society, our security and our freedom. I blame ALL those involved, not just the CURRENT person to whom G.W Bush handed this monstrosity to.

If you don´t think, and cover all the bases, you will never know ANYTHING.

From the first I was aware of Obama--and that was at I think the prior Democratic convention? I had a creepy feeling about him, but I put it aside until the day I watched him in Berlin during the 2008 primaries. The sight of him already presuming to be a global phenomenon set my teeth on edge. From that day forward I have told every single person I know that Obama is not what he appears. Of course it fell on deaf ears. They are still in denial, and even though I see some cracks in the wall, I am not going to lose any sleep waiting to see an "A-HA!" moment. They are getting exactly what they deserve.

Absolutely horrendous persecution of Christian organizations. If I remember correctly she was promoted multiple times when repubics were in complete control of the government - 2001-2006.
Ha!!! What can we expect - the commies/fascists change their ways? They will choke us to death! We don´t have the media, public education, entertainment and banking system. The lame (may I write it in capital letters) LAME repubics are not representing Americans. I am of the opinion that we need real conservative common sense party. So, we lose next elections? Repubics are of no help anyway!
The situation will deteriorate rapidly. Now the internet is filled with comments that this admin is hitler/stalinist in its ways. And I, like many of you (us) feel that DHS behaves like SS or Gestapo (or KGB).

I thought I´d look up DHS´s mission statement. Hassling a TEA Party group isn´t among their duties. That is unless the TEA Party is on their terrorist watch list.

There are five homeland security missions:

1. Prevent terrorism and enhancing security;
2. Secure and manage our borders;
3. Enforce and administer our immigration laws;
4. Safeguard and secure cyberspace;
5. Ensure resilience to disasters;

Why WERE they harassing the TEA Party protesters? The local police weren´t available? They looked a lot like Brown Shirts to me.

Alas, another reporter asked me the same question I have been repeatedly asked for the past five years. “As an African-American, why are you a member of the Tea Party?” It dawned on me to ask the reporter, “If you are a thinking patriotic American, why are you not a member of the Tea Party?” It is stunning that reporters cannot see the absurdity and racism against white voters in their assumption that Tea Party membership (pushback against Obama's agenda) equals racism. The moral blindness of the American Ruling Class is on display. The Washingtonian Magazine, a glossy lifestyle and politics rag, has published a fawning profile of DC power couple Jay Carney and Claire Shipman that was a bit more revealing than intended. At the top of the piece was a photo of mom Claire with her son and daughter, flipping a fried egg in their beautiful kitchen/great room. The moral blindness of the American Ruling Class is on display. The Washingtonian Magazine, a glossy lifestyle and politics rag, has published a fawning profile of DC power couple Jay Carney and

Two of the biggest and best-connected lobbyists in Washington, DC are divorcing each other, and in the process they are placing on the public record the amazing wealth that can be generated by helping rent-seeking powerful interests shape the laws and regulations that separate Americans into winners and losers as the state confiscates a fifth of our GDP and regulates much of the rest. Matthew Continetti chronicles the divorce of Tony and Heather Podesta in the Free Beacon, and it is arresting reading. If the name Podesta rings a bell, that is because Tony’s kid brother John is a former White

One of the guidelines of liberal propaganda is that if you are going to lie, lie big. Global warming, Obamacare, Romney’s a heartless guy. It might be time to add to the list the famous Anthony Porter exoneration in Chicago in 1999. Not only is Porter likely guilty of the double murder he was initially charged with, an innocent man therefore sits in an east central Illinois prison serving a 37-year sentence. His probable framing was largely orchestrated by a since-discredited “journalism” professor and his students at Northwestern University, a cowed prosecutor’s office in Cook County, and a Chicago media that

This morning I clicked on a link to a Red State website article concerning “The War on Women” and “Paycheck Equality” and got quite a surprise (the same thing happens when a Firefox user goes directly to the article). Nanny Firefox posted a political opinion on my screen before allowing me to proceed to read the article. This message didn’t appear when I accessed a second article which met with Firefox’s political commissar’s approval. Here’s what Firefox said: Careful Now! (shouldn’t they have said “Achtung! or “Verboten!” or something similar?). This website could not be displayed by Firefox because it is not

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

In testimony before the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday, Eric Holder offered an alarming new doctrine for the Republic: laws are only suggestions, and the real authority to enforce or not enforce them lies in the hands of the president and his cabinet officers. (snip) There is a vast amount of discretion that a president has — and more specifically that an attorney general has,” Holder responded. “But that discretion has to be used in an appropriate way so that your acting consistent with the aims of the statute but at the same time making sure that you are acting in

California’s ruling Democrats are in danger of splintering their coalition over an attempt to re-introduce affirmative action, which has been banned ever since the passage of Proposition 209 in 1996, which banned the use of racial preferences by the state, including in higher education. (snip) the zero-sum nature of racial spoils has become evident to erstwhile members of the Democratic coalition that runs California. Yesterday, revenge was exacted against Democrat Asian-American legislators by the blacks and Hispanics.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of
