Michelle Obama visited the slave quarters at Decatur House — a red-brick structure that sits in the shadow of the White House — that once housed the black men and women who served 19th century politicians, military and business leaders who lived in the property. The first lady, who is the nation’s only first lady to have descended from people held in slavery, made the stop as part of an announcement that the historic Decatur House
Comments: Appropriate for the wife of a man who has driven more persons of color into poverty than any other U.S. president...
She seems to be wearing that big bang wig helmet thing on her head again.
As I have noted in the past, that wig is what I call a Jerry Springer black tranny hooker wig, from one of Springer´s episodes labeled ´I didn´t tell him that I was born a man, but today I will.´ After a black first lady visits a slave quarters, what else is left of the race card to play?
I was always wondering when she would visit Detroit.
Incidentally, this house is named after Stephen Decatuer, America´s early and first soldier to fight the Islamists of North Africa.
What irony! - Barry is threatened by his inept handling of Libya because his coddling of Islamists, and, here Barry´s wife is seeking cover and visiting the former house of the bravest of Americans who slayed the North African Islamists.
"From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli" Indeed!
My daughter went to college in Annapolis and she lived in the old slave quarters. She and two other students shared this nice small clapboard house. My daughter had the downstairs room that must have been the living room, the two other students each had their own bedroom upstairs. These houses are almost identical to the small colonial type houses that are built today for those who can not afford more. The houses are lovely, but small; probably around 1000 square feet, slightly larger than my 850 square foot apartment (2 bd 1 1/2 bath) in West Palm Beach, FL.
The real slaves are the men and women like us who get up every morning and work their buns off 5 or 6 days a week to put food on the table, pay for expenses, support their kids, and pay the rent or mortgage, for about 30 years of their lives....all under this totalitarian big government machine....
Chewbacca the ebony clown wouldnt have a frickin´ CLUE what it´s like to work for a living, and none of you black people have EVER been slaves...NEVER!!
So shut up, WAPO, and "Krissah", quit kissing your editors left-wing a** and get a REAL job, you ignorant liberal hack!
Jihadists cut down a 150-year-old oak tree in Atme, on Syria´s border with Turkey, after they accused locals of worshipping it, a pro-jihadist source said. "Thank God almighty, the tree... aged more than 150 years has been removed, after people were worshipping it instead of God," said the source on Thursday via his Twitter account named "our call is our jihad". He also posted pictures of a man in a black mask using an electric saw to cut down the tree. A black Al-Qaeda-style flag bearing the Islamic profession of faith had been planted on top of the tree. The jihadist sympathiser used
Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans”- President John F. Kennedy. There is no family in American politics who is quite on par with the Kennedy’s. Fifty years after the assassination of JFK, the family’s presence in American politics has dwindled–they’ve experienced many ups and downs– but they’ve carried on. Each generation seems to pass on the proverbial torch, and America’s interest in the Kennedy clan, whether they’re running for office or battling public relations snafus, has continued with that passing.
People are puzzled: Why would Barack Obama have lied about how wonderfully everything was going to go with ObamaCare when officials in his administration knew perfectly well that disaster was going to strike? In one sense, the answer is simple: At the time, just before Oct. 1, Republicans were insisting ObamaCare be delayed or defunded. The president and his team weren’t going to give the enemy the satisfaction of agreeing — or the potent ammunition that would have come from a rueful admission the system wasn’t ready. Today, a bipartisan agreement to delay ObamaCare seems like it would have been a pretty
Woo-wooo! The Obama administration´s next train wreck after Obamacare is coming ´round the bend. The administration and its Democratic allies in Congress are zealously trying to protect consumers from the crazy home-lending excesses that caused the Great Recession. Inadvertently, they are assuring that fewer Americans will qualify for home mortgages.(snip) Crucial parts already are flying off the train. Banks are exiting from the mortgage business in large numbers, primarily because of the high operating costs and heightened litigation risks imposed by the Dodd-Frank financial-reform law. This exodus reduces supply. Obtaining a home loan used to be a breeze for most people -- even
Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood has lashed out at US Secretary of State John Kerry for saying the Islamist group “stole” the 2011 popular uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak. The Brotherhood said Friday the United States should respect democratic principles and not “support the dictatorship” of the Egyptian military, which in a popularly-backed coup ousted Islamist president Mohammed Mursi, who hails from the Brotherhood. The statement was in response to Kerry’s comments to leaders of multinational US firms on Wednesday, saying the Brotherhood had appropriated the revolt against Mubarak from young people who started it. Washington has tried to ease tensions
WASHINGTON — A major U.S. power company has pleaded guilty to killing eagles and other birds at two Wyoming wind farms and agreed to pay $1 million as part of the first enforcement of environmental laws protecting birds against wind energy facilities. Until the settlement announced Friday with Duke Energy Corp. and its renewable energy arm, not a single wind energy company had been prosecuted for a death of an eagle or other protected bird — even though each death is a violation of federal law, unless a company has a federal permit. Not a single wind energy facility has
A California-based solar company backed by several Obama supporters has been receiving millions in federal tax credits while losing $322 million since 2008, raising concerns about the company “becoming the next Solyndra.” Among SolarCity Corp.’s biggest investors is Elon Musk -- the high-profile donor and fundraiser who co-founded PayPal and whose companies SpaceX and electric-car company Tesla Motors have received at least $846 million in loans and startup money from the Obama administration. Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, warned about SolarCity’s financial standing in a letter Monday to the Treasury Department. “There is concern that SolarCity
WASHINGTON — Michelle Obama says she won’t wear shorts on Air Force One again because the one time she did, it created “a huge stink.”(snip)Mrs. Obama was asked about her biggest fashion regret. She said she’s always happy with her outfits but that, quote, “sometimes I forget I’m the first lady and I’m running around in shorts.” She recalled her family’s first White House vacation, to the Grand Canyon in August 2009. Mrs. Obama said her wearing shorts getting off the plane “created a huge stink because people were like, ‘she’s wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One.’” She said her thought
President Obama irked some conservatives with his recitation of the Gettysburg Address, which he read aloud as part of a project celebrating the 150th anniversary of famous Lincoln speech. For the project, spearheaded by documentarian Ken Burns, a number of politicians and other high-profile people recorded themselves reading the Gettysburg Address. However, Mr. Obama´s recording seems to be the only one that leaves the phrase "under God" out of a certain line. Some conservatives took offense to the president´s reading. "Lincoln added ´Under God´ as he was looking out over battlefield. why would obama remove?" Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Twitter. Gettysburg
Churning up more turmoil in an already tense relationship, Secretary of State John Kerry will not visit Israel Friday, despite a claim by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Sunday. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz says senior Obama administration officials said a visit wouldn´t be until after Thanksgiving and that a final timeline for the visit hadn´t been determined when Netanyahu made his announcement. The two men have been at odds in recent weeks over the U.S.-led negotiations regarding Iran´s nuclear program, with Netanyahu harshly criticizing a rumored agreement that would roll back some economic sanctions currently in place against Iran. But
President Barack Obama, who has portrayed himself as surprised by technical problems with the government´s new health care website, was briefed last spring on a detailed consultant´s report that warned of system failure, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Tuesday. Carney said the president´s familiarity with the report and recommendations by McKinsey & Co did not contradict previous statements from the White House that described Obama as surprised by the scope of flaws in HealthCare.gov since it opened for people to enroll for insurance coverage on October 1. Obama was told the problems identified by McKinsey were being addressed, Carney said. After
Kanye West has vowed never to mention Barack Obama´s name again. The big name rapper has been criticized a number times by the US president - including advising young people not to look to the wealth of the rapper and his fiance Kim Kardashian as an example of success, and branding him a "jackass" after he interrupted Taylor Swift´s 2009 MTV Music Awards acceptance speech - but Kanye believes the politician only uses his name to be "down" with young people. He told Philadelphia-based radio station 107.9 FM: "I just think that we´re pop icons, and the President likes to use that
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on a conference call organized by Karl Rove’s Crossroads organization for large donors and their advisers on Oct. 30 that the Tea Party movement, in his view, is a “nothing but a bunch of bullies” that he plans to “punch … in the nose.” On the call, according to a donor who was on it, McConnell personally named Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as Tea Party conservatives he views as problematic for him. “The bulk of it was an attack on the Tea Party in general, Cruz in particular,” the source, a
Fraud can be so brazen it takes people’s breath away. But for a prosecutor tasked with proving a swindle — or what federal law describes as a “scheme to defraud” — the crucial thing is not so much the fraud. It is the scheme. To be sure, it is the fraud — the individual false statements, sneaky omissions, and deceptive practices — that grabs our attention. As I’ve recounted in this space, President Obama repeatedly and emphatically vowed, “If you like your health-insurance plan, you can keep your health-insurance plan, period.” The incontrovertible record — disclosures by the Obama administration in
Fear swept through Borough Park, Brooklyn, as soon as the news got out: A young man was randomly assaulted by strangers early Friday morning, and the attack was possibly part of the so-called Knockout Game. Four men were arrested, but on Friday night only one was charged and the others were released. The attack added to a growing log of reports of such crimes in the Northeast and beyond. Young assailants were randomly picking unlucky targets and trying to knock them out with just one punch. Yet police officials in several cities where such attacks have been reported said that the “game” amounted
A teen playing the "Knockout Game" in Lansing, Michigan unwittingly targeted a concealed carry permit holder and was shot twice. He survived and is now in jail. As Breitbart News previously reported, the "Knockout Game" thrives in areas where victims are unarmed. In the "game," teens approach a stranger on the sidewalk or in an alley and punch the stranger in an attempt to knock him or her out. A punch that results in a knockout scores one point. WILX in Lansing reported that teenager Marvell Weaver, who is black, tried to knock out a father who was standing at
WASHINGTON -- Democrats quickly enjoyed the first fruits of a milestone Senate vote making it harder for the Republican minority to block President Barack Obama´s nominations: They swiftly ended a GOP filibuster against one of his top judicial selections and prepared to do the same for two others. Over the longer term, they might regret what they did and how they did it, Republicans and others are warning. When Democrats muscled the changes through Thursday over the opposition of every GOP senator, it helped heighten Congress´ already high level of partisan animosity. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., used a process that
Today, President Obama and the Democrats are faced with the opportunity to take a timeout – a timeout from ObamaCare. I believe that they should delay ObamaCare for six months to a year. America’s health care system isn’t something that can be pieced together on an ad-hoc basis amidst failing websites, party infighting, bickering insurers and a confused American public. Since the website launched last month, it has become increasingly clear that the policy – and indeed the mechanics – weren’t ready yet. And while I, along with the rest of the American people, would’ve preferred that it had worked
Joining the hosts of MSNBC’s The Cycle on Friday, legendary NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw previewed a special on the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination that will air on MSNBC that night. Recounting his experiences from that day, he said that the reaction to JFK’s assassination, “mostly in conservative states,” was encapsulated by his interaction with one man who expressed satisfaction over the president’s killing. “This was unusual but it was not unheard of,” Brokaw told the MSNBC hosts, prefacing a conservative’s reaction to JFK’s killing. “As I came running out of the announce booth, the chief engineer,
To the average American, ObamaCare is part web site disaster, part shattered campaign promise writ very, very large. Millions of Americans have already been forced out of their existing health care policies, a number that may skyrocket in the new year. Russell Simmons sees it differently. The hip-hop mogul says ObamaCare is already so successful it´s saved thousands, if not millions of lives. Yes, we initially wanted single payer, and we had to compromise back in 2009 for the Affordable Care Act. But, it is a damn good piece of legislation that has already saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives. So,
For the White House, November has been the cruelest month, with increasing worry among Democrats that a year from now could mean another midterm electoral disaster, similar to the results in 2010 when Republicans picked up over 60 House seats to gain control and netted six Senate seats as well. Each day produces a new poll with terrible numbers for the president and his policies. The Obama approval level has dipped below 40% in several surveys in recent days, and yesterday hit an all-time low of 37% in a CBS poll — a survey that in the past has often
“Congress is broken,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday before holding a party-line vote that disposed of rules that have guided and protected the chamber since 1789. If Congress wasn’t broken before, it certainly is now. What Reid (Nev.) and his fellow Democrats effectively did was take the chamber of Congress that still functioned at a modest level and turn it into a clone of the other chamber, which functions not at all. They turned the Senate into the House. Democrats were fully justified in stripping Republicans of their right to filibuster President Obama’s nominees — yet they will
President Obama said Friday he does not worry much about his safety because of the “outstanding” Secret Service detail that shadows him everywhere he goes. Obama said the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy 50 years ago transformed the presidential security detail to a point where he hardly thinks about safety. "It´s not something I think about, mainly because we have a Secret Service that does an outstanding job every single day," Obama told ABC News in an interview set to air next week. For example, the open-air car Kennedy was riding in while shot in Dallas in 1963
Ahmad Rashad, a Pro Bowl wide receiver, has made yet another great catch. The Minnesota Vikings legend has rebounded from his broken marriage to Sale Johnson — the ex-wife of Jets owner Woody Johnson — and is said to be dating Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s most trusted senior adviser. Rashad, a sportscaster and a close friend of Michael Jordan’s, is keeping the romance on the down low. “They haven’t gone out in public,” one source told me. “They are sneaking around.” (Rashad’s manager did not respond to questions about the relationship, and the White House declined to comment on Jarrett’s personal life.) Rashad, who
