How Hope and Change Gave
Way To Spying on the Press

Daily Beast, by Kirsten Powers

First they came for Fox News, and they did not speak out – because they were not Fox News. Then they came for government whistleblowers, and they did not speak out – because they were not government whistleblowers. Then they came for the maker of a You Tube video, and – okay, we know how this story ends. But how did we get here?Turns out, it’s a fairly swift sojourn from a president pushing to “delegitimize” a news organization, to threatening criminal prosecution for journalistic activity by a Fox News reporter, James Rosen,

Looks like we have freedom of the press in this country as long as the press promulgates the socialist point of view.

The late, great Christopher Hitchens and Michael Kelly would be hitting back twice as hard if they were alive.

Why on earth are you still a Democrat, Kirsten? Surely by now you see that the whole party, the whole politically correct marxist stupidness of the ideology, is beyond hope and dishonest to its core? You´re smart - so jump!

The scariest part of all this is how the supposed career Feds went along with these obvious unconstitutional moves with no protest. Want the IRS action targeted against Conservatives? No problem. Care to spy on a journalist who works for Fox? Let me count the ways. Are there no employees left with integrity?

Oh poor Kristen, it is one of the most difficult thing in the world for someone use to being on their knees for so long to all of a sudden stand up. Today´s ´journalist´ have chosen and trained to be Dem cheerleaders throughout their careers. It is next to impossible to start performing like a real journalist as most don´t know how. It would be like asking an OU cheerleader at halftime to start cheering for Texas during the annual OU-Texas football game. IT just isn´t gonna happen!

Kristen is finally seeing the light. It was ok for the Obama Administration to go after FOX and Sarah Palin but not the MSM or individual reporters. If the MSM had been doing its job, Obama would never have been elected. We tried to tell you all that the first people Dictators go after are journalists, doctors, and teachers. Get your heads out of the sand and start reporting the real NEWS.

Perhaps after all these years that Kirsten has actually interected with Fox reporters has helped to open her eyes. Still - it should not have taken her all these years to criticize Obama´s abuse towards Fox News.

Kirsten Powers and other members of the press are now rending their garments and tearing their hair because of the assault on the freedom of the press. Kirsten´s comments are correct but only as far as they go. To the members of the press I say, first they came after our free exercise of religion and you did not speak out but cheered, because you had no religion. Then they came after our guns and you did not speak out, but cheered, because you do not own guns. Now members of the press are alarmed that that "their" freedoms are being impinged upon. I ask the members of the press, and I don´t think the question can be evaded, where have you been? Why have you been enabling this government´s assault on others freedoms and how long are you going to wail about the attack on freedom of the press while cheering on the attack on the rest of the Constitution?

Kirsten has always been a common sense Democrat-an endangered species.
Obama treats the prisoners at Gitmo with more respect and gives them more rights
than he does US citizens.
Obama wanted Rosen to go to prison for 10 years
because he considered him an " aider , abettor and a co conspirator ".
When even Keith Olbermann is disgusted with Obama´s DOInJustice , you know a red line has been crossed.
Yesterday , Olbermann tweeted -
" My experience dealing with @JamesRosenFNC was unpleasant and contentious.
And I fully support him against this unwarranted act by DOJ."
Logic would dictate that this scandal is not limited to the 4 at FOX News and the AP
and I would wager that some members of the media have been blackmailed into writing only positive and glowing stories about this criminal enterprise
known as the Obama Administration.
We must have many Special Prosecutors.

It all depends on whose ox is being gored. As long as 0´s minions went after FOX the LSM – including KP – couldn’t care less. FOX mercilessly beat them up in the rating game and they didn’t like it and so some 0 underlings harassing FOX didn’t bother them. Now ‘Withholder’ and his goons is intruding into the hallowed halls of the AP and all hell breaks loose and the LSM find themselves uncomfortably in the same camp as FOX.

#1, two hugely missed voices, Kelly for far too long over the decade and Hitchens, you know in his last moments still had that prolific essence and is probably screaming from the heavens at the idiocy of all of this...

Kirsten is more of the old Democrat world than the one engulfing her contemporaries. She sees the fire, knows she has to escape the flames and is looking for a door that allows life on the other side. Her old but pitch-perfect - think JFK Democrat, no snide comments - thinking goes completely against the grain of our culture now, along with its Dan Pfeiffer-speak of the law being "irrelevant" and that the whereabouts of THE President at a crucial time where deaths of Americans in a terror attack were imminent are unimportant.

(Dan Pfeiffer ended his career this weekend.)

She knows the end is near. Kids that voted for Zippy in their stupid haze are partially responsible for this mess and they don´t even know how they´ve doomed themselves; she´s not a kid following campaigns anymore. Decisions and votes have huge consequences, "cool" guy or not.

The world of human history is replete with examples of how tyranny rises to power to enslave whole populations. It always begins when good men, misled or otherwise compromised through either treachery or coercion, give silence while the monsters grow. Our modern media, raised up through the compromised university systems in our nation give silence, knowing full well the monster Øbama and his socialist elites, are trampling our constitutional freedoms. Now, the consequences of the silence and ‘sycophantics’ of and media sophistry comes the pain on them. They are shocked. But, now they can not realize the danger quickly enough as they suffer the short gasps of horrible recognition of what it is they have allowed to grow. It reaches out for them- do they come charging to the front, a last chance to save the freedoms of expression and press they once so coveted? Or do they cower and continue to appease the beast of their making?

Always, only when the élites suffer the consequences of their actions do they react.

The Gosnell episode made a big impression a on Kirsten, her own words. She is slowly opening her eyes to truth. That happens to many women about her age. Leave her alone, encourage her; we may have a conservative in the future.
I never used to listen to her when she first started at Fox. She was like Juan Williams´s an eager espouser of the liberal line for the day. I like that she has an open mind and allows that the liberal screed is not always right. I am hoping she will see the light eventually.

The problem with Kristen, like most dems, is that they keep on going back to their wife-beating hubbie. "He´s changed." "He didn´t mean it." Don´t cozy up to close to her just because she has squealed a couple of times.

She claims she worked for Bill Clinton. I don´t know if she necessarily worked under him, though - if you know what I mean. She supports Obama´s health care reform, supports comprehensive immigration reform and providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, favors gun control, supports closing Guantanamo Bay and putting prisoners in federal prisons, and opposes the death penalty.

She will soon learn that her mobility on the dem plantation is severely limited by saying and writing anything except lavish praise for all that is dem and get back in line.

White House senior adviser John Podesta is running against the clock. Time is winding on Podesta’s objective, which is to make sure President Obama put points on the board in the final three years of his second term through either legislation or executive action. With Obama and the White House flailing in late 2013, Podesta returned to the West Wing in January as part of an Obama reboot. A little more than three months later, the former chief of staff for President Clinton gets good marks from Democrats and fellow West Wingers for helping to improve the White House’s strategy and communications. Dartmouth College students recently staged an overnight sit-in the office of their president Philip Hanlon. They had over seventy demands. Apparently, they grew out of their alleged suffering at the hands of “racist, classist, sexist, heterosexist, trans-homophobic, xenophobic, and ablest structures.” Translating into English, the students elaborated, “Our bodies are already on the line, in danger, and under attack” — suggesting conditions similar to the teen-aged Marines who stormed Fallujah in November 2004, or perhaps the iron-workers who tip-toe on girders 1,000 feet above Manhattan, or an acquaintance of mine whose work clothes reveal that he pumps out quite messy rural

On Friday the president used the long-awaited resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to again claim victory for his namesake health law. “She got it fixed, got the job done,” Obama said. Right. Sorry, there is plenty of more bad news ahead. It’s not called SebeliusCare, and she wasn’t to blame for most of its problems. The horrors were mostly baked into the law, with some made worse by the president’s dishonest hard sell to get unsuspecting Americans to sign up. Last week Zbigniew Brzezinski, joined by five other foreign-policy experts from the past, issued an open letter entitled “Stand Firm, John Kerry,” calling for “clarity” on “the critical moral and political issues” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. According to NBC News, who spoke with a Secret Service official, the U.S. Attorney’s office has declined federal prosecution. Ernst was wearing shoes on Thursday night when she attended a speech Clinton was giving in Las Vegas, but apparently brought an extra one specifically to throw at the former secretary of state. The official said the incident appeared to be “premeditated.”

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. Cliven Bundy and his

A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters. Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally. Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) is now accusing the Keystone pipeline of being a cancer risk. Her first point was that the pipeline “will bring 830,000 barrels of dirty tar sands oil into our nation every day.” She then segued to point #2 by asserting that the heavy tar sands oil will put people who live near refineries at risk for cancer: Significantly higher levels of dangerous air pollutants and carcinogens have been documented downwind from tar sands refineries, and in these areas people are suffering higher rates of the types of cancers linked to these toxic chemicals, including leukemia and

Let me obliterate a bit of confusion here: the Obama administration attempted to go to war with a rancher in Nevada. Let me amplify a little bit of truth: They tucked tail and have returned home. And let me add a bit of clarity: they had no choice! As the nation began to become familiar with the plight of the family of Cliven Bundy, many of us harkened back to another standoff in which the Federal government attempted to bully it´s outcome: Waco, Texas and the Branch Davidian massacre. It is telling that in the Nevada case the feds pulled out so

President Obama stood Friday with the Rev. Al Sharpton and accused Republicans of trying to keep millions of Americans from voting, in a fiery speech days after new revelations about Sharpton’s past as an FBI informant. “The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago,” Obama told the annual convention of Sharpton’s National Action Network in Manhattan. Obama’s appearance represented a presidential seal of approval of Sharpton’s role as a civil rights activist, amid the new revelations about how Sharpton used a wire to record

They’re both qualified, respectful of each other (shocker!), and represent the vast majority of middle America. So what’s not to like about another Clinton/Bush race for 2016? When you mention the prospect of Clinton vs. Bush 2016 a funny thing happens. First, there is the reflexive response: "Oh no, not again. We don´t need more dynastic politics in this country." But upon further reflection, you realize Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton would be a great race and actually good for the country. Let´s review. QUALIFICATIONS—THEY’VE BOTH GOT THEM. Barack Obama won the presidency because in an election where the premium was on change, it mattered little

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving
