Democratic Senator uses Okla.
tornado for anti-GOP rant

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care

God damn that man and all who use tragedies to push their pathetic agendas. I don´t usually invoke the name of our Lord but they can´t even wait until the bodies are recovered before they start wagging their fingers.

So, Mr. Global Warming guy, what do you propose? Shut down coal plants and oil refineries? Gee, we´d have to cut down trees to warm ourselves. Use wind? No, that might kill birds. So will you only be happy when we all sit in caves and eat twigs.

Wish someone would ask him if he has a problem with snipping babies spinal cords or twisting off their heads. Government and the general population will say that you are “nutty” if you point out the contrails, or “chemtrails” that some believe are a government attempt to influence climate change. Or something, since nobody will acknowledge it. But, if you keep your eye on the sky, you will notice something strange. Dozens, sometimes I have seen forty, of ‘contrails”, horizon to horizon, usually on what starts out as clear blue sky. If it is to improve the weather, so far, hasn’t been particularly helpful.

He rants about bailing out Texas due to wildfires; I lived through them and we got nary a dime from the feds, much less the Rhode Islanders whom we subsidize with cheap oil and cheap, plentiful natural gas - not to mention food. I no longer feel like those died in the wool blue staters who elect such fools are my countrymen. I detest the fact that some percentage of the oil and gas I find and produce will enhance the quality of life of those who trash us and hate us. Our gulf coast is as precious to us as is Greenwich Bay to them but the blue staters have no qualms about our refineries and petrochemical plants that the supply the plastics propping up their dour sagging faces. Why don´t we just get a no-fault divorce, like Czechoslovakia? We can be good neighbors as long as we have a good fence.

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. Others were already insured, including millions who lost coverage when their existing policies were suddenly

Big changes could be just down the road for North Carolina drivers. A proposal is in the works that would change the state tax system to charge drivers by the mile, instead of at the gas pump. The proposal would be to charge a half cent per mile for cars, which would generate almost $500 million in annual state revenue. A driver who travelled 15,000 miles in a year would pay about $75. "Basically you pay per the mile. It´s treating transportation as a utility, much like your water and sewer," said Larry Goode, with the Institute of Transportation Research and

Sources on the ground in Benghazi during the 2012 terror attack are pushing back hard on former CIA acting director Mike Morell´s testimony on Capitol Hill, where he defended his role in shaping the administration´s narrative and claimed politics were not involved. As part of Morell´s testimony on Wednesday, the former acting and deputy CIA director acknowledged that he overruled the guidance of the top CIA officer in Libya at the time. That official told Morell the attack was not an "escalation of protests," but Morell said he had to weigh that against analysts who concluded the opposite. He ultimately went

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.

The human kindling that makes up the flammable Republican base may soon burst into flames, again. Portions of that excitable cohort are looking — some with fawn-like eyes filled with hurt, others with sparks shooting from eyes narrowed like gun slits — askance at other Republicans urging Jeb Bush to seek the 2016 presidential nomination. A candidacy by Florida’s former governor would be desirable. But if Republicans want to avoid intra-party carnage, they should be very careful about doing what The Post recently reported: “Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is "looking" at banning the sale of tobacco at military installations. According to one military publication, Hagel appears to support it. "As the Navy considers banning tobacco sales on all bases and ships, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel gave a strong endorsement of the review Monday, and suggested that he would be in favor of a ban," reports Stars and Stripes. “I don’t know if there’s anybody in America who still thinks that tobacco is good for you,” Stars and Stripes quotes Hagel as saying. “We don’t allow smoking in any of our government buildings. Restaurants, states, [and]

Sarah Palin continues to act in ways that confirm some of the more negative things said about her. For example, she’s taken to Facebook to attack the most recent budget plan by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.(Snip)Whatever differences Ms. Palin may have with the Ryan plan–and perhaps she’ll take the time to offer an actual critique of if rather than a Facebook entry with lots of upper case words–it’s hardly a joke. But what might elicit a roll of the eyes is comparing Ms. Palin’s views now versus what they were nearly four years ago. Consider this: On December

Senate majority leader Harry Reid has a whole page on his official Senate.gov website devoted to revealing "THE FACTS ABOUT THE KOCH BROTHERS." One of the alleged facts promoted on Reid´s website is that the Kochs do not pay any corporate taxes: “They are known for bankrolling conservative, Libertarian and Tea Party causes and became poster boys for corporate tax reform last year when an Obama Administration official suggested Koch is organized as an S Corp. and so pays no corporate level taxes.” The claim that the Koch brothers don´t pay corporate income taxes was first made by former White House official
