WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.
FTA: “The cardinal rule here is you do not intervene in an independent investigation."
One of the congressmen said last week during the IRS grilling that using the statement they had no comment because the matter was "under investigation" is now the 5th amendment of politics of this regime. He couldn´t be more correct. They not only don´t know anything they can´t comment because there is an "investigation" involved. 0bama sure didn´t have any qualms making comments about an investigation during the Trayvon Martin nightmare.
Isn´t that racist? ´Keeping obomba in the dark" No wonder he needed a heroic Marine to stand with an umbrella to shield him. All his black face would be destroyed. After all, we ALL KNOW he uses make up and hair dye/grey hair help
People are jockeying for position to be thrown under the bus. I wonder if there is more under the bus than we realize. Maybe we have been conned into thinking that being thrown under the bus is bad when in fact it is a good thing.
Getting all ´logical´ and ´principled´ is just more proof that you white folks are up to your old tricks again. Your old , dead white men were good with words but we still know how we feel. And we´ll pick cotton on this Democrat Plantation so long as we know that we are ´stickin´ it to the man´.
OK, I don´t believe them on anything, but for laughs, let´s just say it´s true. Then why isn´t the Kenyan running around firing people and demanding some answers? Nope, he´s just stonewalling, as usual. These are not the actions of an angry pres., they are the actions of a guilty party that is trying to get away with it.
They are not going to tell anyone if they did tell Obama. They are all protecting Obama with every once of energy they have and are lying about the whole thing. We are in a mess in this country that we will never get out of. The only way to get out of it is to throw them all out of office and elect Republicans and that will NEVER happen. We are doomed. Our country is gone, never to be a good country again............
Assuming that the "new" revised story is that the Pharaoh didnt know, that implies that not only id the administration incompetent, it is withholding information from the White House occupant. So.....what else are they withholding. That also means that Pharaoh is not actually running his own regime.
But what I really expect that the chief of staff was planning to step down any day anyway.........
The cardinal rule is "Protect the president at all costs.". Any other official can fall and be replaced but NOT the president. Carney is right in that most WHs probably DO work this way but you KNOW it WAS discussed with BO. Better for the president to now look disconnected and slightly incompetent than take the hit for condoning these type of actions. Further, the administration members know that if they protect the president, they will end up OK. Even if they are let go some liberal business will pick them up and give them a huge salary as a payoff. If they give up the president they will be targeted, as BO has shown he KNOWS how to do.
So imagine this: The White House Chief of Staff purposely keeps his boss in the dark regarding these revelations. Sorry folks. I ain´t buying it. There is no Chief of Staff in the Universe that would do that. This is ridiculous in the extreme. You never blindside the Boss. NEVER, and expect to live.
Dennis McDonough must have been promised a full and complete pardon, plus a great 6 figure job somewhere after the storm blows through. Otherwise, what idiot would take responsibility for such a disaster?
Of course The Bamster never knew...Just like back in the days when Jake "Greasy Thumb" Guzik took care of the "Chicago Outfit´s" accounting/distribution records but never let the CEO/Chairman of The Board, Alphonse Capone, see the daily sales figures, debt/credit ledger entries, bank records or income statements.../s
As others have noted -those surrounding Obama use terms to describe him that bring to mind mushrooms and potted plants. It´s amazing that Obama and his team prefer to be known as bumbling imbeciles and incompetents when we all know that they are devious crooks.
Actually, I don´t doubt it. With all the unAmerican and illegal shenanigans this hellbent crew is pulling, they want to keep Obama in the dark and able to maintain deniability and hence his office. This is how they protect him. As long as he is standing --- and him standing is the MOST important priority with them --- they or their replacements can continue their overhaul of the United States of America. If you want the game to continue, others may fall, but not the King.
´´Go play golf, Barry. You don´t want to know what´s going on.´´
At the heart of this intentionally confusing ball of twine and intrigue, cherchez la femme ValJar. She´s the assistant/minder/life coach who curiously demanded the round-the-clock Secret Service protection.
Even if true, it´s "irrelevant", as Pfeiffer would say. It´s the Emperor´s job to stay on top of things and control his staff, not the other way around. He´s the pResident, not a puppet. (Actually, he is IMO - but that´s another argument.) Ignorance is simply not an excuse.
I believe Obama when he said he first learned of Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, the media domestic spying scandal, and probably Benghazi also by reading it in the papers. After all he can´t be everywhere at once, and tea bagging with Reggie does have its priority. His father Frank Davis Marshall taught him well.
Right. Sure thing. Makes sense. Why not? Perfectly understandable. Standard operating procedure. By the book.
Always the dilemma: are these almost comically mendacious people scoundrels, incompetents, or just liars? It can make one´s head spin as they kaleidoscope and shape-shift from one configuration to the next, never standing still. One instant they seem like radicals, rogues and villains - but in the very next breath they appear to be nothing but incompetent, almost pitiful fools who are in way over their heads.
Somehow, some way, it is all of the above. That is, they -the Obama Gang- are an unstable mix of radicalism, roguery, folly, mendacity and sheer, awe-inspiring, at times nearly unimaginable incompetence. Their efforts to defend their egregious actions and inactions display a pathetic lack of basic political competence as they work hard to make a bad, a very bad situation still worse. One almost -almost, but not quite- feels sorry for them and their remaining supporters.
The rock has been turned over at last - and the hordes of squirmy, crawly, creepy things are suddenly exposed to the light and racing in circles trying to find cover and save themselves.
What an awful crew. How filthy and unclean journalists must now feel when they try to deal with them, the Obama Gang. They must have to hold their noses and take frequent baths. But they -the journalists- are only getting what they deserve. They brought it on themselves. Too bad for the rest of us that they brought it on us, too.
Maybe American journalism can now redeem itself somewhat by beginning to investigate and report the truth about Obama and his gang. If they flub this one, there is no hope left for them - or us.
Article is misleading in that it refers to when the WH knew results of the IG investigation and not when it knew of the actual practice...they knew at least by Spring 2012 or more likely in 2010 when it was initiated...Jack Lew was chief of staff through Feb of this year before quietly being confirmed as your unqualified TreasSecy while some tilted at windmills going after Hagel......
We know Obama is a liar. He has massively abused the power of his office. It is no wonder he liked Hugo Chavez so well. They are cut from the same cloth.
The idea that his Chief of Staff kept this major IRS abuse from Obama is preposterous! We ARE now a "Banana Republic." Will this ever get the justice it deserves. Time will tell, but my jaded outlook says, "No."
CIC George Soros forbade his minions from telling TAARP Baby (aka "Puppet") anything about the IRS or any other agency ostensibly under TAARP Baby´s "reign."
This preserves... "Plausible Deniability" ... for the TAARP Baby.
To us, he appears to be O-Bomber, the dangerous and powerful Chief Executive.
But CIC Soros and those on the "inside loop" are aware TAARP Baby is just their puppet who happens to be a great actor. He keeps a straight face as he protests his own innocence (and ignorance) of even an appearance of wrongdoing, let alone the real thing.
TAARP Baby is even willing to pretend on camera that he´s married to a Wookiee and loves her and they´ve had two children together.
Reggie Love waits patiently in the wings for the drama to simmer down so´s he can hep his "Man" unwind... and... unlax....
If ya know whut Ah mean... and Ah think ya do... *wink*
When events occur that are so shocking and devastating that they are almost too much for anyone to bear, plain common sense requires that protecting the children is the first thing responsible adults must do. An immature child’s mind cannot and should not be expected to grasp horrific news.
Your job is to make sure the Boss has deniability.

Why would the Chief of Staff and other White House officials have to inform Obama of the damaging IRS audit when he and his cabal probably initiated and ordered such action? Notice how they parse their excuses.
Let´s see. Comrade Urkel met with the very anti-Tea Party IRS union chief Colleen Kelly on 31 Mar 2010, just one day before the IRS targeted the Tea Party and other conservative groups. Methinks he ordered IRS-lings to behave like flying monkeys and union thugs and instill fear in those running and supporting conservative causes. Timmy Geithner is probably in this, too. If you believe Obama´s story, I have some land to sell you.
There are two starring roles in this fiasco ...based upon who exactly they not mention...and who they had to blackmail (we´ll give you email , you ask no questions and approve)...Why when Brennan had to withdraw his name in 2008 could emails not be exchanged for his approval... Brennan runs Clapper, Brennan ran Petraeus, Morell deputy to Petraeus appeared to answer to Brennan, NOT to Petraues
Benghazi leads directly to Obama and Brennan...Brennan and Obama...with Jarret
Unleashing a barrage of expletives that would be unusual even in an off-the-record conversation, the chief spokeswoman for Anthony D. Weiner’s embattled campaign for mayor attacked a former campaign intern in an interview published on Tuesday night. Barbara Morgan, in an interview with Talking Points Memo, a political news site, was responding to a first-person account by Olivia Nuzzi, the former intern, who wrote harshly in The Daily News about her experiences with the campaign. Ms. Nuzzi claimed that Mr. Weiner repeatedly called interns by the wrong name, underpaid a staff
THERE is something missing from the endless moralizing and sophomoric jokes aimed at Anthony D. Weiner. That something is the role of women in a coarse and creepy Internet culture dedicated to the fulfillment of both male and female desires for virtual carnal knowledge. People ask how Mr. Weiner’s wife, the soulfully beautiful and professionally accomplished Huma Abedin, can stay with him. My question is why hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of women apparently derive gratification from exchanging sexual talk and pictures with strangers.
The American journalism trade is breathing a collective – but premature and, in many cases, grossly hypocritical – sigh of relief today. A military judge has found Bradley Manning guilty of many crimes, but "aiding the enemy" isn´t one of them. Had the judge found Manning guilty of aiding the enemy, she would have set a terrible precedent. For the first time, an American court – albeit a military court – would have said it was a potentially capital crime simply to give information to a news organization, because in the internet era
Green paint was found Monday defacing a statue outside the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall and poured atop an organ in a chapel at the Washington National Cathedral, just three days after the Lincoln Memorial was vandalized in a similar manner. D.C. police have now joined the U.S. Park Police in the investigation, but authorities said they do not know if any of the incidents are related.
"I think every president in the intense media environment we have now, certainly every two-term president, gets to a point where the American people stop listening, stop leaning forward hungrily for information. I think this president got there earlier than most presidents. And I think he´s in that time now."So said the Wall Street Journal´s Peggy Noonan on ABC´s This Week Sunday.
David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama, said Sunday that Former Rep. Anthony Weiner was “delusional” and should drop out of the race for New York City mayor."I think it´s time for him to go away and let New York have its mayor’s race," Axelrod said on NBC´s "Meet thePress." Axelrod said he had not commented on Weiner because he is personal friends with Weiner´s wife,
Weiner’s political career will never end, if only because of how much value he has to offer to the media, standup comedians and bored browsers looking for some news item to wake them up long enough to finish another hour of data entry at their job. Shame has become a mostly discredited concept. The return of Weiner and Spitzer to public life proves as much. But the Era of Shame ended conclusively with Clinton’s impeachment proceedings. The only outcome of those proceedings was to degrade the country while leaving the man at the center of the mess intact.
Sometimes James Risen feels like Jean Valjean, the beleaguered protagonist of “Les Miserables,” hounded for years by the authorities. “They just keep coming at me,” Mr. Risen, a Times reporter in Washington, told me by phone last week. It has been 10 years since he learned of a secret C.I.A. program to interfere with Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons, and six since he got an ominous FedEx package containing a government subpoena. Since then, it has been one legal hurdle after another, trying to stay out of court. Just over a week ago, another blow came: A federal appeals court panel ruled,
In a new sign of tumult within Anthony D. Weiner’s embattled political operation, his campaign manager has quit, leaving his already skeletal team without a day-to-day leader. According to two people told of the decision, the campaign manager, Danny Kedem, no longer wished to oversee Mr. Weiner’s bid for New York mayor after a week of bruising revelations about the candidate’s latest online conduct. The two people, who have close ties to the campaign, did not want to be identified because they were disclosing confidential conversations.
Hamilton Jordan, Jimmy Carter’s young, brash chief of staff, was famous during the administration for negotiating tough deals, carousing at night and shunning the stuffy customs of official Washington. He spent the final years of his life on a quieter pursuit: writing a memoir of nearly 300 pages that was not quite finished at the time of his death in 2008. Now his daughter, Kathleen, a 24-year-old television producer, is rushing to polish the manuscript in the hope of getting it published
President Obama suggested that states reconsider "stand your ground" laws, and contended that they invite people to use deadly force when it is not justified. The following statement proves Mr. Obama´s well-known dishonesty, as demonstrated below. I refer specifically to his implication that "stand your ground" means you can shoot somebody who makes you "feel threatened." And for those who resist that idea that we should think about something like these "stand your ground" laws, I just ask people to consider if Trayvon Martin was of age and armed,
If you have never suffered from lingering low back pain, you’re lucky or, more likely, young. Up to 80 percent of us will experience low back pain at some point. And for most, there won’t be an identifiable cause. In the past 10 years, the most popular nonsurgical medical treatment for “chronic, nonspecific” low back pain has been injection therapy, or shots into the lower back of various substances — usually cortisone but also liquid ibuprofen, morphine and vitamin B12.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
