IRS targeted groups critical
of government, documents
from agency probe show

Washington Post, by Juliet Eilperin

At various points over the past two years, Internal Revenue Service officials singled out for scrutiny not only groups with “tea party” or “patriot” in their name but also nonprofit groups that criticized the government and sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution, according to documents in an audit conducted by the agency’s inspector general. The documents, obtained by The Washington Post from a congressional aide with knowledge of the findings, show that the IRS field office in charge of evaluating applications for tax-exempt status decided to focus on groups making statements that “criticize

So, if you aren´t marching in lock-step with the Jack-booted Thugs, you´re singled out for close scrutiny?

Sounds like what my Grandparents fled from in Europe...

So, the first attempt at blame goes to "a IRS field office.´ Yeah, those renegade IRS underlings who decide to go on their own unsupervised witch hunts. I h guess it is lucky we have the political appointees there to keep them from doing really stupid, horrendous, illegal acts.

Glad they are going to peel this onion back so America can get clean again after these national socialist thugs are held to account. Get the names and the evidence. Legal precedent was set in Nuremburg. Maybe time to dust off the protocols for the most deserving of these jackboot toads.

No government employee of any sort is going to stick their neck out and go on a mission like this. The entire reason d´etre of a government worker bee is to discern what the bosses want, and give them that, and no more.

This order came from the top.

The left is so good at creating myths out of thin air, that they believe them, themselves. One of the biggest lies they´ve made up the past 4 years is that tea party people are anti-government. So they investigated these groups based on that lie alone. They were also labeled racists just for good measure. The reason they´re mostly white is because they know they´ll have to pay for Obama´s reckless spending.Illegals and welfare people sure won´t.

Are people who go to NASCAR,hockey games and baseball, all racists because they´re over 90% white?

If tea party groups were anti-government,they would have been around a lot sooner, protesting this or that. Tea party type people are the ones that make this country move and keep social standards in place.

The trigger that really started the movement was Obamacare. That was a huge infringement on a person´s personal freedom and could easily lead to the government forcing people to buy and do other things against their will.

The premiums aren´t market based anymore and are more or less an anytime tax increases, bypassing congress.

I haven´t quite figured out why jewish groups were targeted,if they were at all, unless they were openly pro-Israel or condemned Obama´s policies towards that country.

Because a poll taken right before the election showed Elizabeth Colbert Busch with a nine-point lead over Sanford, I thought it must be tainted polling. Now I´m wondering if people said they would vote for the Democrat because of fear of the Obama administration. (Sanford won with 54% versus CB at 45%.)

I am developing a ´Lone Wolf" theory. I have been saying for a long time that it´s not Obama that is overtly killing this country; it´s his appointees. What is no apparent is the appointees and their underlings act as ´Lone Wolves´, thus shielding those above them from responsibility when things go wrong. Obama meddles and directs as little as possible, giving him more time for golf and traveling.

This is no laughing matter. It´s been building for 4-1/2 years but we now have the tyrannical government that our founders warned us of. This is just a further example. To me this just adds fuel to the fire that the election was fixed. Voter intimidation, stuffing ballot boxes, dead voters, fraudulent early voting, one man: ten votes, military suppression and now this. This is the stuff of tin pot dictatorships. We need to blow the whistle and call time out. We need time to soak all this in. Until we decide how to rein him in, our only hope is to keep Obama so busy defending his prior corruption that he becomes impotent. No wonder he´s buying up all the ammo.

This is the scariest part:

in charge of evaluating applications for tax-exempt status decided to focus on groups making statements that “criticize how the country is being run” and those that were involved in educating Americans “on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.” [emphasis mine]

This Administration has a vested interest in keeping Americans fat, dumb and happy. If they actually know what the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is about, they will no longer be (at least) dumb. If younger Americans know how this country was founded, which they clearly don´t know right now, they will realize it´s not the horrible place Obama & Co. paint it as being.

In short, Obama cannot afford an educated electorate. If the educated ones won´t bow to the socialist agenda, they must be intimidated via IRS scrutiny and other means into toeing the Leftist line.

To target people like Glenn Beck who is trying to educate people about America´s foundational documents and principles is truly Hitlerian. And no, this isn´t hyperbole.

Now that this cat is out of the bag, what other cats will come out? The targeting of Christian groups as well as Jewish ones? Think Muslim groups will be targeted? You know, the ones trying to educate Americans about the beauty and joys of Islam?

We are being had on the largest scale in American history. Even the Left has fallen for this blatant attempt at dictatorship. They still think it´s just a matter of promoting a liberal agenda.

They couldn´t be more wrong.

There seems to be a pattern of intimidation tactics used by this administration. This includes any number of examples from Fox News to businesses stating the negative financial impact of Obamacare to their business, DOJ whistleblowers, ATF whistleblowers, etc. The pattern has been referred to as "Chicago on the Potomac."

#18 is sort of on the right track. But you forget the fact that Obama and Axelrod knew in advance that these people were willing to act and behave in just the manner that they are behaving in. These appointees did not just turn ´lone wolf´ of their own volition. They were hired to behave just as they are now behaving. To believe otherwise is to give Obama a big ´ignorant victim´ button, just what he is trying to play with the IRS appointee he kept from the Bush admin.

As most of us here at LCom know, the executive branch of government operates from top down. To say that some minor underlings went off on a tangent and started doing something like this is ludicrious. The orders come from the top and are dissimanated down through the political appointees. And they do what the boss wants. If the don´t, they don´t stay around very long.

On another tack, I noticed that this article managed to very skillfully twisted this article into a rampage against Republican campaign funding raising. As such, I have to assume that it´s OK for Dims to raise campaign in any manner they choose, but Republicans must have their feet held to the fire and follow rules layed down by the Dims.

I sometimes wonder what univerise I live in.

The only reason that the leftist media is jumping on this story is that they think there´s a chance that it can NOT be laid at zippy´s feet, whereas they know that Benghazi CAN be laid at his feet. ( and Hillary´s ) They think that they can lay all of the blame on the IRS and none of it on zippy. This is a distraction to make us forget Benghazi.

Oh come on. We all know how this works. Of course there were no official orders to do this. Somebody whispered into someone´s ear about how nice it would be if these groups found themselves under increased scrutiny. There will be no chain of command and anyone claiming their superior "told" them to do it will be denied and discredited. The underlings are useful tools. And even if they eventually get fired, some sympathetic dem business will hire them at a better salary than they were making in the government. That also keeps them shut up. If they talk too much, no cushy job waiting for them. Only if they end up facing jail time might they spill the beans. But there will still be no proof.

It was always the patient and the doctor. Like the client and the trusted attorney. Now, it´s patient and the doctor being watched, tracked by the IRS. How did the punishing, prison sentencing police get in there to endanger doctor, nurses, staff and patients? How could that possibly happen? Each and every being in Congress betrayed each and every American by allowing the Hitlerian style SS to come between doctor, all medical and patient. It wasn´t just Puglosi, Reid, Feinstein, Schumer, all the commies, it was the entire Congress that allowed this to happen in America without a murmur or complaint. Even the few good guys, we think we like, allowed this to take place and they all have gone silent. Imagine the IRS attending every meeting you have with your lawyer, too. Where does it stop? Your Congress person is asleep at the switch, just like the traitors to the truth, TV mafia media, the silent watch dog, indoctrinators like Diane Sawyer, her overpaid pals, Brokaw, Couric. O´Reilly, Letterman, Walters, Pelley, old and new, ALL OF THEM, by their silence are betraying America every day. The Supreme Court helped kill America. Your friends and my friends are not speaking up either. They’re getting away with it. Even New Media is letting the destroyers off the hook. Imagine the IRS sending doctors and patients to prison for unwittingly, confusedly, breaking the new masses of thousands of rules, regulations, punishing laws.

When Chief Justice John Roberts rewrote ObamaCare from the bench in order to save it, most of the ramifications were immediately apparent. But there was one aspect of the stunt that as a member of the Supreme Court Roberts should have been sensitive to: precedent. Having caved to a public intimidation campaign from the president and his congressional allies (as well as the media) Roberts signaled that the way to get a conservative justice to discard his better judgment and rule against constitutional law was to impugn the court’s reputation in the public square. Be mean to John Roberts and

Sen. Mark Begich has said repeatedly that he thinks President Obama is wrong about a host of policies, whether on oil drilling, the military or the environment. Begich also has made it perfectly clear that he has no interest in having his fellow Democrat out to his home state of Alaska, saying earlier this year that he doesn’t “care to have him campaign for me.” But that doesn’t mean he’s not looking for the president’s help. Begich has in fact submitted a long wish list to the Obama administration for agency decisions that he thinks would boost his reelection chances.

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” — Lord Acton. In the run-up to the 2006 mid-term elections, crucial to President George W. Bush’s plans for his last two years in office, scandal reared its hideous head. Again and again. And just for the Republicans. First, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay resigned in disgrace after he was charged with violating campaign finance laws and money laundering. Then, Rep. Duke Cunningham pleaded guilty to a slew of federal charges like bribery, fraud, tax evasion. And right before Election Day, Rep. Mark Foley

The resignation of a Silicon Valley executive who opposed gay marriage and refused to recant has sparked an online fight among gays about whether proponents of same-sex marriage are now going too far in trying to marginalize their opponents socially and economically. The announcement by popular Web browser Mozilla Firefox that co-founder and CEO Brendan Eich was stepping down after two weeks on the job for a 2008 contribution has sparked furious debate over civil rights, privacy and corporate responsibility. A leading gay blogger has accused the movement of displaying the same intolerance activists accuse their opponents of practicing, while

On its present course, the Supreme Court will ultimately overrule its 1976 decision in Buckley v. Valeo, the landmark case upholding campaign finance “reform” legislation. It can’t come too soon, because Buckley expressly ignored the First Amendment’s injunction that “Congress shall make no law .?.?. abridging the freedom of speech.” Instead of free speech, we now have regulated speech that has ensnarled elections in a web of bizarre and opaque rules. Last week, in McCutcheon et al. v. Federal Election Commission, the court began edging away from Buckley by striking down one of its limits on free speech. The details

It’s a big weekend for the Bush family, which is enjoying a renaissance of sorts after several years in the political wilderness. Throngs of former administration officials, members of Congress and others descended Friday on College Station, Tex., to fete former president George H.W. Bush on the 25th anniversary of his arrival in office. One of the highlights of the weekend will be a live interview with his son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who has quietly been exploring a 2016 presidential campaign. About 180 miles to the north, former president George W. Bush is hosting an event of a

Put aside the numbers for a moment, and the daily argument. "Seven point one million people have signed up!" "But six million people lost their coverage and were forced onto the exchanges! That´s no triumph, it´s a manipulation. And how many of the 7.1 million have paid?" "We can´t say, but 7.1 million is a big number and redeems the program." "Is it a real number?" In 2008, Barack Obama and Brendan Eich both were against gay marriage. Senator Obama averred his support for the one-man/one-woman view of marriage, while Mr. Eich, a cofounder of the Mozilla web-browser company, donated $1,000 to support Proposition 8 — a California ballot initiative that had the effect of making Senator Obama’s avowed marriage policy the law in California, at least until a federal court overturned it on the theory that California’s constitution is unconstitutional. Barack Obama inexplicably remains, as of this writing, president of the United States of America, but Mr. Eich has just been forced out as CEO

Oregon State University, disdaining responsibility for trashing distribution boxes that were intended for a politically conservative student newspaper, has still paid $1,000 plus $100,000 in legal fees after a former student, William Rogers, filed suit against them. The lawsuit, filed in 2009 by supporters of the newspaper The Liberty, contended that the university president and other school officials permitted the official campus newspaper access to distribution bins, but school officials removed the bins for The Liberty. The suit alleged that school officials confiscated distribution bins for The Liberty and tossed them onto a trash heap. The bins, which contained copies

House Republicans have scheduled a vote next week to hold Lois G. Lerner in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about her role in the Internal Revenue Service’s tea party targeting scandal, setting up a major battle over constitutional rights versus Congress‘ ability to oversee the government. Rep. Darrell E. Issa, the House’s top investigator, said Thursday that as a senior official at the center of the IRS targeting, Ms. Lerner will either talk or face penalties for refusing to help the committee get to the bottom of who orchestrated the targeting and what the motives were. “Ms. Lerner’s

When has a secretary of state been involved in so many disastrous, self-initiated negotiations? First, John Kerry convenes — against all advice and holding no cards — Geneva negotiations to resolve the Syria conflict and supposedly remove Bashar al-Assad from power. The talks collapse in acrimony and confusion. Kerry’s response? A second Geneva conference that — surprise! — breaks up in acrimony and confusion. Then, even as Russian special forces are taking over Crimea, Kerry goes chasing after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov — first to Paris, then Rome, then London — offering a diplomatic “offramp.” Lavrov shrugs him off.

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."
