Call it “Oval Office Couch Syndrome.” By the second term “inside the bubble,” presidents have completely lost touch with reality: Aides and confidants conspire to keep the chief executive insulated from the real world — the bad news, the worse press coverage. They think it’s their job, and lounging on the Oval Office couches, they nod along with the president’s every musing. But this presidency has taken OOCS to new heights — Mr. Obama has only a few trusted aides, and occasional leaks from the West Wing show a paranoid president suspicious of nearly everyone around him.
Hillary is about to be thrown, kicking and screaming, under that big, shiny, proverbial political bus. General Petraeus, even after the scandal, has more credibility than Barry or Hillary can ever hope to have. This is going to get real ugly as her Royal Thighness wants to be President, but isn´t the only contender for the 2016 Presidential nomination. John Kerry could easily release State Department documents that would at a minimum show the world her inability to make difficult decisions, her utter incompetence, her total lack of morals, and her willingness to sacrifice truth, and in the case of Benghazi Gate an innocent film maker, in the name of political expediency. And let´s not forget Simple Joe Biden, or even Michele "My Bell" Obama who would complete Barry´s third, and possibly fourth, term!!!
Gen. Petreaus will regain a bunch of respect he has lost in the minds of many if he would only come forth and give a full explanation of what transpired that terrible day. I only hope and pray that "duty, honor, country" will prevail.
Sociopath narcissist. When their little world of adorers and sycophants breaks down, they become paranoid. He´s gone through his entire life with no one disagreeing with him. Not his mother, not his grandmother, not his Choom Club buddies, not his pals in college, no one in Chicago.
Excellent article. I hope this blows up in Hillary´s face. The buck stops with her. The MSM has much to answer for by not covering this tragedy. Why would they want to protect someone as incompetent as Hillary and Obama. It is their country too. This madness has to stop.
With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration. Mad and intent on getting even, he’s already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were “useless” and he preferred not to use them at all. The floodgates will open this week, and by EOB Friday, the scandal will be full blown.
Sorry for second post, just saw reply one. Obama isn´t as bright as the media makes him out to be. His closest confidant, Val jar is the one who keeps him from hearing unpleasant but necessary bad news. And, he has no clue the amount of damage this woman is doing to the country as well as his "legacy".
Obama is so quick to take credit for good things, like getting bin Laden or this last week basking in the glow of the Texas economy. So it stands to reason that on the night of September 11, 2012 he was AWOL, or what he DID do is NOT something he wants us to know. If his actions had any merit, we´d have folks like Bob Gates describing his gutsy ´´move´´ that night and at least pictures of him in the Situation Room with his POTUS windbreaker on looking intense, if inconsequential. But we have none of that.
Love the tone. Why it almost sounds like the Chicago on the Potomac Gang, with the shoe on the other foot that is. Can´t wait to see it all "play out by Friday". Time for someone with blood on their hands to answer to the American people and the families of the 4 dead Americans.
By the way, the man who lives in Our House skated through the first 4 years without having to answer to anyone. Not even those for whom he works, the American taxpayer.
But the Obama administration would probably use his lapses with Broadwell to call into question his character and truthfulness.
I don´t believe the Obama administration is in a position to question anyone´s character and truthfulness. Their mendacity is on full display and the media finally seem to see it - and feel that they were deliberately misled.
At this point General Petraeus´s coming forward to set the record straight would be a breath of fresh air.
I hope Petraeus has really good personal security. After the way he was treated by Shillary and the left ( suspension of disbelief and General Betray-Us ), I hope he dumps the whole smelly load for everyone to see. I hope that he buries zippy under it.
If this was not the fault of Shillary and zippy, they would have had no reason to create the video story. They could have just blamed it on the underlings who were responsible and fired them. Creating and spreading the video myth was their admission of their own guilt.
I can´t remember -- people. Help me -- wasn´t it Petraeus himself who disclosed his affair?
If that´s the case -- what was the timing? I´m convinced the affair was being used as coersion to make Petraeus do the White House´s bidding....Remember ole hillary´s got all those raw FBI files in her possession.
Let´s research that today and see what WE find.
IF that´s the case -- then I think the ole general (not a political animal) is seething and ready to tell it all....
You don´t cross the CIA and you do not cross someone as powerful as Petraeus who is also worried about his place in history, as well as duty, honor, etc., that Zippy would know nothing about. I would expect a near term mental breakdown as well accelerated by drug use that should concern everyone w/r to the football carried by the Won.
God help us and our children. There will be riots.
"I am ultimately responsible for what´s taking place there because these are my folks, and I´m the one who has to greet those coffins when they come home," Obama said, during Tuesday´s presidential debate against Republican Challenger Mitt Romney. Short memory or just plain B.S.
Petraeus did come out and say it was the video. I thought it was rather odd at the time. Shortly after that the sex scandal became news. My thoughts were he was being blackmailed by the administration when he said it was a video. So, watch out for Petraeus. He´s going to come clean and tell it all. Have not lost respect for this Army general. The house of cards keeps getting closer to a nice fall. Prayers for Peetraeus.
Isn´t it just a bit odd that less than a month after Benghazi the director of the CIA is suddenly forced to "resign" because of marital infidelity before assuming the job?
Of course, Obama and his squeaky clean Chicago machine didn´t have a clue about that little bit of leverage before his appointment a year earlier.
Somehow america can tolerate and many on the left even admire the marital infidelities of FDR, JFK and even Slick Willie himself.
Petraeus was not president, but may have been seen as potential threat of becoming one by the Chicago crew.
It is also worth mentioning that Petraeus "outed" himself and made no attempt to excuse himself.
Is it just possible that the disintegrating scandal of the Benghazi cover-up triggered Obama to play his "trump" card and Petraeus chose to fall on his sword rather than stab America in the back with it by joining the Benghazi Liars Club?
There is no evidence that Petraeus´ personal problems ever had any bearing on his performance in the military or the CIA. The evidence is mounting that because of Benghazi he needed to be replaced with the much more "politically reliable" John Brennan.
"...president suspicious of nearly everyone around him". Next we´ll learn he was all choomed-up talking to the portraits in the WH hallways. I can´t wait to watch Marine One escort him up, up and away...
Am I alone in thinking that the 30 Americans (including the Navy Seals) were also sacrificed by this evil administration? What truth did they know that obama and hillary did not want out? That UBL was dead years ago and someone else was buried at sea to make obama look like a hero before election? Seems curious, if UBL was killed that day, that there was not a huge demonstration in the mideast over killing their champion and denying them the honor of burial in his own land.
Yes, there are a lot of boots yet to fall... if decent patriots can get up the nerve to tell what they know.
FTA: ´´Carnival barker Jay Carney looked almost ashen Friday as he took the podium to face a suddenly invigorated press corps.´´
“Well,” the carney said, “thank you for that question.´´
´´Speaking for the White House, the flack said the CIA was fully to blame for the talking points.´´
If anyone in that so-called Administration needs a public slapdown, it´s that weasel-faced twerp. He makes my blood boil with his never-ending lies and know-it-all smirks. And the Useless Media allows it.
While I believe Hildabeast is involved up to her bloodshot vodka soaked eyeballs, the "stand down" order came straight from the top via ValJar while Zippy was chooming it up with Reggie Love preparing for his party in Vegas.
Many here seem to be hoping that Benghazi will stymie a 2016 presidential run for Hillary. That may be something that will happen, but I´m more interested in Obama being impeached. He probably wouldn´t be convicted in the Senate (it doesn´t really matter); however, it would send a clear message - the Constitution is still our governing guide.
As I´ve stated on another thread regarding Obama and the value of his impeachment: "Future Presidents cannot use the Obama years as a precedent in order to get by with unconstitutional behavior just because Obama did."
When liberties by any president are taken with the Constitution, it gets my dander up and should outrage others, not just me. I still am outraged by the Supreme Court´s abdication over Obama´s POTUS eligibility and John Roberts´ ruling on Obamacare. I would have expected better from the Supremes, but they are now no better than political hacks, IMHO.
Good point, #4, in warning of the inherent danger of John Kerry. He has been flying under the radar for many years with that ambition of becoming POTUS at the forefront of his mind. His philosophy of "hate America first" has been in place since his "heroic" days in Vietnam, much longer than Hussein´s has been. Given the ultimate power, he could be even more dangerous because he´s not the incompetent adolescent that Hussein is. He would not hesitate for a moment in swatting HRC down like a fly by exposing her secrets.
Sadly , I´ve lost faith that General Petraeus will remember Duty , Honor , Country. Maureen Dowd began the new strategy yesterday of laying the blame for Benghazi solely on the military. Will Petraeus and others remain silent and allow that to happen ? We´ll find out soon enough. Once the Democrats begin to turn on each other , the truth may finally trickle out. Eli Lake of The Daily Beast was on Hugh Hewitt´s show and he said that Hick´s testimony was the most significant that he had heard in years. He is going to break new information on Benghazi as soon as he nails down some of the facts to his satisfaction. Lake said that there was a specific reason for the second wave of attacks which piqued Hewitt´s interest and he alluded to the rumors about what was really going on at the consulate. Gun running ? Lake said a very liberal , long time reporter sitting next to him was also stunned by the testimony of Hicks and others. While Hicks was testifying, CNN was covering balloons in an empty parking lot in Cleveland.
I get the sense that General Petraeus is a long term thinker that works out his stragety to cover all bases. It´s just possible that he is/has been doing just that. If and when he comes forward and tells all, be sure that it will be an ironclad testimony that the Dims will not be able to break. I´m waiting for that day.
General Petraeus is an egotist. He was proud of his career and his ribbons. I don´t believe he´ll stand still for O&Co´s passing the buck on the Benghazi talking points to what was at the time HIS CIA. ________
I am beginning to see the same naysayers on multiple threads. Anyone with an IQ over room temp would begin to wonder about trolls and spoilers. When in doubt, have a look in Replies in Search. In some cases trends emerge.
So a general nearing the end of career but considered a potential Presidential candidate is talked into a intelligence position that opens the door to the old seduction game. Sadly General falls for it and the blackmail begins .General finally sees the game isn´t just about presidential elections and ends blackmail by going public. If this is the picture --Yeah the Obe´s should be quaking in their little elven boots.
Was it the knowledge of the marital affair of the CIA Director that made the WH believe it could succeed in its campaign of disinformation? i.e., We´re not going to let this Benghazi thing derail our reelection and a compromised Patreaus will play ball (or at least stifle himself) with our Benghazi disinformation campaign centering on ´´the video´´.
Did they know about the affair when they put Patraeus at CIA?
I can remember, as a kid growing up in East Texas, sometime at night when we watched TV, two mice would run from different corners of the room, stand on their hind legs and ´fight´ in the glow of the TV.
It was amusing to watch. Normally at some point during the night or the next day, both mice would be found, dead, in separate traps.
I´ll leave it to all y´all to put names on the two mice currently fighting it out in the warming glow of the TV.
President Obama promised to mend the failings in the American health-care system, and yet for cancer treatment, ObamaCare is taking a rotten feature of the old system and making it worse. The Affordable Care Act expands a program called 340B, which siphons money from drug makers and insurers to subsidize certain hospitals. The program has been expanded as a way to offset some of the cuts that the law imposes on hospitals. One significant side effect: 340B is increasing the cost of cancer care—and harming its quality. When the program began in 1992, its aim was to support
Most Americans would agree that academic freedom is a sacred right of the academy and crucial to the American experiment in democracy. But what is it really? That´s the question raised by the Associated Press´s July 16 release of emails between Mitch Daniels, when he was the governor of Indiana, and his staff concerning Howard Zinn´s "A People´s History of the United States." The emails were written in 2010 and Mr. Daniels, whose second term as governor ended this January, is now president of Purdue University in Indiana. Published in 1980, Zinn´s "A People´s History"
Fiscal Policy: President Obama has proposed a "grand bargain" with Republicans: They get a tax cut for corporations, he gets more money to spend on worthless government stimulus. That´s no bargain — that´s surrender. In the latest attempt by Democrats to disguise GOP capitulation as centrist "compromise," Obama said he´ll sign off on a cut in the corporate tax rate from 35% to 28% — with an even lower rate of 25% for manufacturers — if Republicans will agree to spend more on Obama´s "investments" and OK a tax hike on U.S. companies doing business overseas.
In Chattanooga on Tuesday, the latest stop on his economic inequality tour, President Obama made himself an offer he couldn´t refuse. If Congressional Republicans agree to a corporate tax increase, he said, then he´ll agree to spend more money on his favorite public-works projects. If Republicans bargain hard, will he also offer an expansion of ObamaCare as a sweetener? We know this sounds like an exaggeration, but that´s the essence of what the President proposed as what he called a new "grand bargain." Mr. Obama will agree to reform the corporate tax code—a GOP priority and one
Cabinet: Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee reportedly is vying to replace Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security secretary. It would be hard to find a choice worse than the gonzo Houston Democrat. Jackson-Lee has the backing of the Congressional Black Caucus, which has been aggressively lobbying President Obama to diversify his Cabinet. Given Obama´s radical second-term picks — from Thomas Perez to Mel Watt — we can´t be sure he´ll pass on the recommendation, nutty as it is. According to the Houston Chronicle, the head of the Black Caucus last week in a letter to Obama praised Jackson-Lee as a "voice of reason" for Homeland
Obamanomics: The president has been decrying the growing gap between rich and poor in the U.S. to help sell his retread tax-and-spend proposals. But those policies have already produced record levels of income inequality. In his speech in Illinois last week, and at events since, Obama described income inequality in the starkest terms. "This growing inequality is morally wrong," he said, and "undermines the very essence of America." To be sure, income inequality is a standard trope for liberals, who always use it to advocate more wealth redistribution. And Obama´s latest focus neatly coincides with his plans to push
RUSH: Angela in Dallas, it´s great to have you. I´m glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello. CALLER: Hi, Rush. So good to talk to you. Thanks for taking my call. RUSH: You bet. CALLER: I just about choked on my coffee this morning when I heard the recommendation by the Black Caucus for Sheila Jackson Lee to be the head of DHS. I´m from Texas, and this woman is a colossal embarrassment to the majority of the citizens of Texas.
Huma Abedin, the wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), dined Monday night with Hillary Clinton´s spokesman Philippe Reines. The two were spotted at Meiwah, a Chinese restaurant in Washington, D.C., according to reports. The public meeting comes amid speculation that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are concerned about the fallout as Weiner struggles to regain a foothold in the race for New York City mayor after new revelations emerged about his lewd online behavior. Reports citing many close to the Clintons said the couple was angered by comparisons between their
RUSH: Now, yesterday I mentioned a comment in a sort of throwaway fashion, and we had a caller who was asking me... I forget the specific issue he was asking me about, but it was something where for years, Washington, both parties have been saying something. And then when the opportunity comes to them to back it up, all of a sudden they don´t. I was explaining about how in 25 years of doing this program, things are starting to repeat now. I´m starting to learn when politicians have said things they don´t really mean.
RUSH: The Weiner Stack is growing. His fortunes are shrinking. In fact, there´s a piece here by Tina Brown, there´s two things here that are actually interesting. There´s a piece by Tina Brown in which she says we gotta stop with all the dickmanship. Yeah. Here it is. Tina Brown shares her thoughts on what she called "dickmanship," and we gotta get rid of it. And then, folks, are you ready for this? Let me find this. I´m gonna have to paraphrase it. I´m really sorry.
Who the heck does Huma think she is? That´s the question "a top [New York] state Democrat" is asking about Anthony Weiner´s wife, according to a report by Fred Dicker of the New York Post. "The Clintons are pis$$ed off that Weiner´s campaign is saying that Huma is just like Hillary,´´ Dicker´s Dem declares. "How dare they compare Huma with Hillary? Hillary was the first lady. Hillary was a senator. She was secretary of state." Being called low-class by the Clintons has got to hurt. But we don´t see how Dicker´s source´s comparison works to Huma´s disadvantage.
Democrats in Congress hope the Travyon Martin tragedy can help them accomplish something they have worked on for years to no avail: an end to racial profiling. "Trayvon is one of too many individuals across the country who have been victimized by a perception of criminality simply because of their race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. These individuals are denied the basic respect and equal treatment that is the right of every American," says Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who is sponsoring the End Racial Profiling Act.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. Anthony Weiner may have violated federal law when he failed to disclose his lavish six-figure wedding in his financial disclosure forms, says a government accountability group. Ethics watchdog group National Legal and Policy Center examined the federal Financial Disclosure Reports for both Weiner and long-suffering wife Huma Abedin for 2010, the year of their wedding. The cost for the ceremony was at least $100,000 but probably ran closer to $250,000 including all
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
A group of experts advising the nation’s premier cancer research institution has recommended sweeping changes in the approach to cancer detection and treatment, including changes in the very definition of cancer and eliminating the word entirely from some common diagnoses. Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
