Watch out for Petraeus
in Benghazi scandal

Washington Times, by Joseph Curl

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 5/12/2013 7:35:15 PM

Call it “Oval Office Couch Syndrome.” By the second term “inside the bubble,” presidents have completely lost touch with reality: Aides and confidants conspire to keep the chief executive insulated from the real world — the bad news, the worse press coverage. They think it’s their job, and lounging on the Oval Office couches, they nod along with the president’s every musing. But this presidency has taken OOCS to new heights — Mr. Obama has only a few trusted aides, and occasional leaks from the West Wing show a paranoid president suspicious of nearly everyone around him.

Hillary is about to be thrown, kicking and screaming, under that big, shiny, proverbial political bus. General Petraeus, even after the scandal, has more credibility than Barry or Hillary can ever hope to have. This is going to get real ugly as her Royal Thighness wants to be President, but isn´t the only contender for the 2016 Presidential nomination. John Kerry could easily release State Department documents that would at a minimum show the world her inability to make difficult decisions, her utter incompetence, her total lack of morals, and her willingness to sacrifice truth, and in the case of Benghazi Gate an innocent film maker, in the name of political expediency. And let´s not forget Simple Joe Biden, or even Michele "My Bell" Obama who would complete Barry´s third, and possibly fourth, term!!!

Gen. Petreaus will regain a bunch of respect he has lost in the minds of many if he would only come forth and give a full explanation of what transpired that terrible day. I only hope and pray that "duty, honor, country" will prevail.

As far as Mr. Petraeus is concerned, it depends if he is hoping for another Obama Administration job, or intends to be his own man. Maybe we will find that out soon.

Sociopath narcissist. When their little world of adorers and sycophants breaks down, they become paranoid. He´s gone through his entire life with no one disagreeing with him. Not his mother, not his grandmother, not his Choom Club buddies, not his pals in college, no one in Chicago.

Excellent article. I hope this blows up in Hillary´s face. The buck stops with her. The MSM has much to answer for by not covering this tragedy. Why would they want to protect someone as incompetent as Hillary and Obama. It is their country too. This madness has to stop.

With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration. Mad and intent on getting even, he’s already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were “useless” and he preferred not to use them at all. The floodgates will open this week, and by EOB Friday, the scandal will be full blown.

Sounds yummy!

Sorry for second post, just saw reply one. Obama isn´t as bright as the media makes him out to be. His closest confidant, Val jar is the one who keeps him from hearing unpleasant but necessary bad news. And, he has no clue the amount of damage this woman is doing to the country as well as his "legacy".

Obama is so quick to take credit for good things, like getting bin Laden or this last week basking in the glow of the Texas economy. So it stands to reason that on the night of September 11, 2012 he was AWOL, or what he DID do is NOT something he wants us to know. If his actions had any merit, we´d have folks like Bob Gates describing his gutsy ´´move´´ that night and at least pictures of him in the Situation Room with his POTUS windbreaker on looking intense, if inconsequential. But we have none of that.

By the way, the man who lives in Our House skated through the first 4 years without having to answer to anyone. Not even those for whom he works, the American taxpayer.

Petraeus could certainly do the honorable thing and tell the entire truth; it would certainly help to restore his sagging reputation.

But the Obama administration would probably use his lapses with Broadwell to call into question his character and truthfulness.

Does Petraeus care about his country? That is going to be his guiding principle, I think.

I don´t believe the Obama administration is in a position to question anyone´s character and truthfulness. Their mendacity is on full display and the media finally seem to see it - and feel that they were deliberately misled.

At this point General Petraeus´s coming forward to set the record straight would be a breath of fresh air.

I hope Petraeus has really good personal security. After the way he was treated by Shillary and the left ( suspension of disbelief and General Betray-Us ), I hope he dumps the whole smelly load for everyone to see. I hope that he buries zippy under it.

If this was not the fault of Shillary and zippy, they would have had no reason to create the video story. They could have just blamed it on the underlings who were responsible and fired them. Creating and spreading the video myth was their admission of their own guilt.

I can´t remember -- people. Help me -- wasn´t it Petraeus himself who disclosed his affair?

If that´s the case -- what was the timing? I´m convinced the affair was being used as coersion to make Petraeus do the White House´s bidding....Remember ole hillary´s got all those raw FBI files in her possession.

Let´s research that today and see what WE find.

IF that´s the case -- then I think the ole general (not a political animal) is seething and ready to tell it all....

You don´t cross the CIA and you do not cross someone as powerful as Petraeus who is also worried about his place in history, as well as duty, honor, etc., that Zippy would know nothing about. I would expect a near term mental breakdown as well accelerated by drug use that should concern everyone w/r to the football carried by the Won.

God help us and our children. There will be riots.

Petraeus did come out and say it was the video. I thought it was rather odd at the time. Shortly after that the sex scandal became news. My thoughts were he was being blackmailed by the administration when he said it was a video. So, watch out for Petraeus. He´s going to come clean and tell it all. Have not lost respect for this Army general. The house of cards keeps getting closer to a nice fall. Prayers for Peetraeus.

Isn´t it just a bit odd that less than a month after Benghazi the director of the CIA is suddenly forced to "resign" because of marital infidelity before assuming the job?

Of course, Obama and his squeaky clean Chicago machine didn´t have a clue about that little bit of leverage before his appointment a year earlier.

Somehow america can tolerate and many on the left even admire the marital infidelities of FDR, JFK and even Slick Willie himself.

Petraeus was not president, but may have been seen as potential threat of becoming one by the Chicago crew.

It is also worth mentioning that Petraeus "outed" himself and made no attempt to excuse himself.

Is it just possible that the disintegrating scandal of the Benghazi cover-up triggered Obama to play his "trump" card and Petraeus chose to fall on his sword rather than stab America in the back with it by joining the Benghazi Liars Club?

There is no evidence that Petraeus´ personal problems ever had any bearing on his performance in the military or the CIA. The evidence is mounting that because of Benghazi he needed to be replaced with the much more "politically reliable" John Brennan.

Am I alone in thinking that the 30 Americans (including the Navy Seals) were also sacrificed by this evil administration? What truth did they know that obama and hillary did not want out? That UBL was dead years ago and someone else was buried at sea to make obama look like a hero before election? Seems curious, if UBL was killed that day, that there was not a huge demonstration in the mideast over killing their champion and denying them the honor of burial in his own land.

Yes, there are a lot of boots yet to fall... if decent patriots can get up the nerve to tell what they know.

It´s conducted behind the scenes with pliers, threats, pensions, threats, secret tapes and money.

Many here seem to be hoping that Benghazi will stymie a 2016 presidential run for Hillary. That may be something that will happen, but I´m more interested in Obama being impeached. He probably wouldn´t be convicted in the Senate (it doesn´t really matter); however, it would send a clear message - the Constitution is still our governing guide.

As I´ve stated on another thread regarding Obama and the value of his impeachment: "Future Presidents cannot use the Obama years as a precedent in order to get by with unconstitutional behavior just because Obama did."

When liberties by any president are taken with the Constitution, it gets my dander up and should outrage others, not just me. I still am outraged by the Supreme Court´s abdication over Obama´s POTUS eligibility and John Roberts´ ruling on Obamacare. I would have expected better from the Supremes, but they are now no better than political hacks, IMHO.

Good point, #4, in warning of the inherent danger of John Kerry. He has been flying under the radar for many years with that ambition of becoming POTUS at the forefront of his mind. His philosophy of "hate America first" has been in place since his "heroic" days in Vietnam, much longer than Hussein´s has been. Given the ultimate power, he could be even more dangerous because he´s not the incompetent adolescent that Hussein is. He would not hesitate for a moment in swatting HRC down like a fly by exposing her secrets.

Sadly , I´ve lost faith that General Petraeus will
remember Duty , Honor , Country.
Maureen Dowd began the new strategy yesterday of laying the blame for Benghazi solely on the military.
Will Petraeus and others remain silent and allow that to happen ?
We´ll find out soon enough.
Once the Democrats begin to turn on each other , the truth may finally trickle out.
Eli Lake of The Daily Beast was on Hugh Hewitt´s show and he said that Hick´s testimony
was the most significant that he had heard in years.
He is going to break new information
on Benghazi as soon as he nails down
some of the facts to his satisfaction.
Lake said that there was a specific reason
for the second wave of attacks which piqued Hewitt´s interest
and he alluded to the
rumors about what was really going on at the consulate.
Gun running ?
Lake said a very liberal , long time reporter sitting next to him was also stunned
by the testimony of Hicks and others.
While Hicks was testifying, CNN was covering balloons in an empty parking lot in Cleveland.

I get the sense that General Petraeus is a long term thinker that works out his stragety to cover all bases. It´s just possible that he is/has been doing just that. If and when he comes forward and tells all, be sure that it will be an ironclad testimony that the Dims will not be able to break. I´m waiting for that day.

Sadly General falls for it and the blackmail begins .General finally sees the game isn´t just about presidential elections and ends blackmail by going public.

Was it the knowledge of the marital affair of the CIA Director that made the WH believe it could succeed in its campaign of disinformation? i.e., We´re not going to let this Benghazi thing derail our reelection and a compromised Patreaus will play ball (or at least stifle himself) with our Benghazi disinformation campaign centering on ´´the video´´.

Did they know about the affair when they put Patraeus at CIA?

I can remember, as a kid growing up in East Texas, sometime at night when we watched TV, two mice would run from different corners of the room, stand on their hind legs and ´fight´ in the glow of the TV.

It was amusing to watch. Normally at some point during the night or the next day, both mice would be found, dead, in separate traps.

I´ll leave it to all y´all to put names on the two mice currently fighting it out in the warming glow of the TV.

Now that Petraeus doesn´t work for the current commander in chief I´d ask him to reflect and consider that his loyalty is now to the nation no single president.

After being criticized as racially insensitive for his comments on unemployment in "inner cities," House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., will meet with the Congressional Black Caucus next week to discuss the issue of poverty, an aide for the CBC says. "Congressman Ryan is a nice guy, and as such you know he has tried to frame the comments that he made about inner city folk as just sort of an inarticulate way of communicating," CBC member Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., said during a conference call with reporters today. "We want to challenge his assumptions about that and really raise

The American middle class, long the most affluent in the world, has lost that distinction. While the wealthiest Americans are outpacing many of their global peers, a New York Times analysis shows that across the lower- and middle-income tiers, citizens of other advanced countries have received considerably larger raises over the last three decades. After-tax middle-class incomes in Canada — substantially behind in 2000 — now appear to be higher than in the United States. The poor in much of Europe earn more than poor Americans. The numbers, based on surveys conducted over the past 35 years, offer some of the most detailed

President Barack Obama is marking the 44th Earth Day with a carbon-emitting extravaganza, spending more than 15 hours on Air Force One and 15 minutes aboard the Marine One helicopter. Not including his motorcades in Oso, Washington, the site of a recent devastating mudslide, his trip will consume an estimated 35,565 gallons of fuel. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the statistics arm of the Department of Energy, burning each gallon emits 21.1 pounds of carbon dioxide, bringing the president´s Earth Day carbon footprint to more than 375.7 tons. The White House did not respond to a question about any measures it

Public Trust: Sixty-one percent polled say President Obama lies "some of the time" or "most of the time" on matters of national importance. Americans have to ask: Why do we let him get away with it? It´s no surprise that a Fox News poll of 1,012 registered voters last week found immense distrust of a president whose main domestic initiative was based on a lie. The shock is that the same poll found his disapproval level down to its lowest since last fall. Asked, "How often do you think Barack Obama lies to the country on important matters?" 37% replied "most of

Just ahead of a possible Hillary run for the presidency, the Clinton Library released a new load of documents from President Bill Clinton’s years in the White House. One of those documents attempts to explain Hillary´s "vast right-wing conspiracy" claim in which the Clinton administration accused Republican staffers of colluding with "extremists" on the Internet to hurt the Clintons. On January 27, 1998, Hillary Clinton appeared on NBC´s Today Show. During her interview with Matt Lauer, she claimed that a "vast right-wing conspiracy" had been trying to destroy her husband "since the day he announced for president." That interview drew

As the nation awaits Hillary Clinton´s decision of whether or not she will run for president in 2016, a cache of 7,500 pages of newly released documents from Bill Clinton´s years in the White House show some familiar political themes. One revelation is that Bill Clinton worried that a massive new healthcare scheme would cause Americans to lose their insurance. In 1993, the President allowed his wife, first lady Hillary Clinton, to become the face of an Obamacare-like takeover of the nation´s healthcare system. The plan was sarcastically dubbed Hillarycare. But as these internal documents show, in what is now a

Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. WASHINGTON AND NEW YORK - In September 2001, as the U.S. reeled from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Vladimir Putin supported Washington´s imminent invasion of Afghanistan in ways that would have been inconceivable during the Cold War. He agreed that U.S. planes carrying humanitarian aid could fly through Russian air space. He said the U.S. military could use airbases in former Soviet republics in Central Asia. And he ordered his generals to brief their U.S. counterparts on their own ill-fated 1980s occupation of Afghanistan. During Putin´s visit to President George W. Bush´s Texas ranch two

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture.
