Study: Black students suspended
more often than others

USA Today, by Brett M. Kelman

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 5/12/2013 1:59:12 PM

Black students are suspended more than three times as often as their white classmates, twice as often as their Latino classmates and more than 10 times as often as their Asian classmates in middle and high schools nationwide, a new study shows. The average American secondary student has an 11% chance of being suspended in a single school year, according to the study from the University of California Los Angeles Civil Rights project. However, if that student is black, the odds of suspension jump to 24%.

Comments:
Great, first there´s hardly any black lawyers and now this.
What could it all mean?

Chicago public schools have recently reshaped their discipline strategy to keep students in the classroom, said Jen Loudon, director of youth development and positive behavior support. Suspensions dropped by 21% in the first year after the district abandoned a mandatory suspension policy.

Yeah, from what I read, Chicago is doing a great job with it´s "youth." /s

Could it have anything to do with lack of respect for the educational institution? What were those students grade averages. Single parent homes?

Let´s really look at their, profile, not just their color.

Maybe they are suspended more often because they cause the behavior that requires suspension. It could be that simple. Has anyone seen the Chicago shooting stats from the past several years? Like it or not most are blacks shooting other blacks. They shot each other over shoes and jackets. I work in a middle school and some of these kids are future inmates courtesy of the state tax payers. Look at them wrong, bump them in the hall, "dis" them and my all time favorite "he´s messing with me" will cause a fight.

So many have not really learned to read; yet they get passed on to the next grade. Teachers don´t want to keep a kid back for various reasons, but I can testify that at the middle school level, the bad actors are so far behind that it´s nearly impossible for them to do anything else but make trouble. The more trouble they make, the more probable they will be passed on to the next grade.

Somethings wrong, my comments seem to post before I get done commenting....
As I was saying ....Lets not candy coat it is some imaginary discrimination case that these black lawyers are scamming to make a load of settlement cash. How about we re-word the statement to say: "Black students commit suspend-able offenses and exhibit suspend-able behavior more than three times as often as their white classmates, twice as often as their Latino classmates and more than 10 times as often as their Asian classmates in middle and high schools nationwide.".
Tell it like it is.

Here are a couple of observations.
Most white people go to churches where we are quiet unless we are singing hymns or making prayer responses as part of the liturgy.
Most blacks go to churches where people shout out, make noise at random, and the like, and chillun learn from that.
That carries over into school behavior.
Second, the Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) program, covers disabilities. Federal judges have ruled that a child who acts up in school has a learning disability, and is thus eligible for SSI payments from the federal government. And the 700 dollar per month check goes to baby momma.
And the best proof of continuing disability is if the child is disciplined in school!
Finally, Obama issued an executive order on July 26, 2012, requiring quotas for school discipline by race and ethnic group.
Think about that.

Now let´s look at the percentage of blacks that have no father at home, drop out of high school and commit black on black crime and see if there is a correlation.

You know white conservatives are always called racists but the real racists are those liberals that refuse to look at what is going on and play victimizing card. The only way things are going to get better is if the black community starts taking responsibility for its own.

If one want to write the results of a "study" it should include the kind of trouble whites get into compared to blacks, latinos compared to blacks and of course Asians compared to blacks. Unless of course you want me to believe that an Asian, White, Latino and a Black all get caught carrying a bag of pot and a gun (and all with no previous offenses) get different penalties, with the Black kid getting the harshest, is that right?

We as a country are reaping what was sown over the past 2 generations. An entire race of people has been made dependent and nearly illiterate by liberal policies. The numbers tell the truth and liberals never like numbers. A small segment of the 12% of the population is responsible for more than half of the crime in the country. Liberals played their fiddles while the inner cities lost jobs, population, and thus real diversity. Blacks in this country have truly been kept on the plantation by liberals both white and black. .

Two of my cousins gave up the thought of teaching...in each case they lasted only two years. They taught in the Cherry Hill district of Baltimore. They could not put up with the abuse of many of the elementary school age black kids and the neglect and abuse of their parents. This was in the 70s and things have only gotten worse. I remember some years past an article in the Baltimore Sun where a young black female student said she no longer wanted to go to her mostly black school becasue so many of the students behaved like animals. Liberal policies and poor stewardship by leaders are responsible.

Here are the markings of success, regardless of race /color/ ethnitcity:

2 parent family
Involvement in a sport/team event
Church
Volunteer hours

Casual study over the years of top achievers in schools- rich or poor , urban or suburb

Now, if Democrats and Union Thugs were really interested in improving schools- we would have a voucher system empowering parents and choice. However, this does not fit the government knows better scenerio.

Drive down the road at 2 miles over the speed limit, count the number of people that pass you. Determine what percentage of them that are black - compare that number to their overall national percentage -

When people taught that laws do not apply to them, that they are entitled because of their skin color, naturally they are going to be a miscreants and worse.
In a fair world, miscreants are punished.

Look, a black student joining a violent gang!....You racist!

Look, a black male committing numerous violent crimes!....You racist!

Look, black men committing a home invasion!..You racist!

Look, black thugs killing black babies in the ghetto!...You racist!

Arent you tired of this? The ass-press always inferring that WE (white people) are the problem simply because the "facts" point out that blacks cause so much violence, especially against their own kind, and cause so much disruption in schools and cant stay away from gangs or drugs....enough social studies determined to find out WHY they are violent and criminal..it´s in their NATURE! No matter if they are purple, green, or orange! It´s in their NATURE! Say it!

It´s not RACIST if it´s true!
Liberals shun the truth....just look at Benghazi...or the IRS...or anything said by this administration...these lefty asses HATE the truth! And the truth is, BLACKS act out more emotionally and violently and cost our society so much money, and thus are suspended, or jailed, for their outbursts and crimes...simple facts, not racism, you LIARS!!!

FTA: "Sweet-Love believes that white teachers are more likely to deem a black student "threatening" instead of simply disobedient, and therefore more likely to "make an example" by suspending a black students."

Since when do teachers suspend students? Last I heard, that was a function of school administrators.

Most school districts provide handbooks to parents and students on the first day of the school year. The rules are spelled out. If you don´t want to be suspended, don´t fight, don´t skip school, don´t abuse staff, and don´t disrupt the learning environment for other students.

I have been volunteering one day a week on a project at my local catholic high school for almost a year. There is a pretty high percentage of "minority" students. I have not seen one instance of bad behavior in the halls or classrooms by any student of any race. I have been impressed. The kids wear uniforms, hear or say prayers all through the day, and are part of a culture of respect. I assume too that there is at least one involved parent in each home, but the behavior I´ve seen is exemplary.

The black community lost its way when it placed its trust in false prophets like Jesse Jackson and All Sharpton who told them what they wanted to hear rather than what they needed to hear - that their troubles did not come from oppression by the Man but from the moral rot within their communities once the Sexual Revolution and the War on Poverty wreaked havoc on the family units of black communities in the 1960´s and ´70´s.

I just love this stuff. It is so stupid and disingenuous. These ´studies´ have been going on for at least 40 years. It is probably also true that the numbers would be greater if you consider political correctness and many of the ones causing the trouble have been saved by it. The studies come out at frequent intervals when new jails need to be built. We go through a period where we are all racists because we imprison blacks at a higher rate. The studies take a few years off and then start again with their agenda which is to put us all in danger for not being politically correct. The cycle looks like it has resumed for a while.

He says that´s necessary to ensure that NATO remains a credible force in the world. Obama says NATO can´t just be a U.S. or British exercise. Obama spoke at a news conference with European Union leaders in Brussels amid concern about Russia´s annexation of the Ukrainian region of Crimea. Obama says the situation in Ukraine, in his words, "reminds us that our freedom isn´t free. Obama meets later Wednesday with NATO Secretary General Anders

Bigger is often better, at least when it comes to being an animal. That´s why new evidence regarding salamanders in the Eastern United States is so alarming.(snip)"Body size is a really, really important factor for most animals," explained Lips. "When you shrink that affects what can eat you, what you can eat, how successful you´re going to be at reproducing. Bigger is generally better." Lips collaborated with other scientists to get a better understanding on why exactly salamanders were shrinking. The most likely culprit: global warming. As temperatures heat up, so do the animals´ metabolisms. Lips and her colleagues determined that

The world´s most powerful democracy and the world´s most absolute monarchy have long been close, if unlikely, allies. They are bound together by common interests -- the free flow of oil and, more recently, fighting al Qaeda. (snip)Yet today, the Saudi-American alliance has never been in worse shape. That is why on Friday President Barack Obama will meet with Saudi King Abdullah, one of the sons of King Abdul Aziz, in an attempt to patch things up. What went wrong? In recent months the normally hyper-discreet Saudis have gone on the record about their dissatisfactions with the Obama administration.

At a large factory in Nairobi, Kenya, about 300 Kenyans will soon begin building small, black cookstoves that one islander hopes will alter the face of Africa.(snip)Burn’s new factory was made possible in part by $1 million in financing from General Electric and a $3 million loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corp. (OPIC), a federal development finance institution. Hillary Clinton secured the funding during her time at the State Department, when she made clean cookstoves a national priority and launched the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, vowing to invest $50 million in clean-burning stoves.

It’s not an early April Fool’s joke -- Business Insider has hired disgraced former NYC Congressman and mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to write a weekly political column, starting Friday. Hunter Walker, Business Insider’s politics editor, published the announcement on Monday, after teasing the news on Twitter by announcing that “something wonderful is about to happen.” The folks at Business Insider are clearly aware of the built-in entertainment value of hiring the scandalized politician, who is best known for sending an explicit photo of himself to an online mistress on Twitter -- and initially denying the photo was his. When NASA astronauts were suiting up to go to space in the 1960s, they had to make a big decision before they explored the world above us: How large of a man are you? Getting it wrong could damage the mission. According to a former NASA life support system expert who helped construct space diapers, otherwise known as Maximum Absorbency Garment systems, each astronaut in the Gemini and Apollo programs had to wear a condom-type sheath with a hole at the end for urination inside their suits. In an interview on the Science Channel´s Moon Machines documentary series about early space travel, engineer

A new species of praying mantis, Liturgusa algorei, indigenous to the thick rain forests of Peru has been named after former vice president Al Gore; one of 19 new species of the insect recently identified by entomologist Gavin Svenson. The discoveries came after Svenson, curator of invertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, decided to search through both old collections at museums and embark on field expeditions into the forests of Central and South America. Unlike the patient, zen-like praying mantis we´re all familiar with, these equatorial cousins take a decidedly different approach to both hunting and self-preservation. "This group,

President Obama, like most Kenyan politicians, loves beating about the bush and avoiding the real issue. In Kenya, we all know the big problem is corruption, but we are addressing virtually everything else but corruption. And so in America, our cousin President Obama dances around serious issues like the typical Kenyan he is. When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, Obama thundered with indignation and a fulsome, righteous — and justified — anger. The people of Georgia thought he would follow through on his fiery words with real action to set their country free of Russia’s torment, but wapi! With Cousin Barry, as with

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has said that ´a trained ape´ could do a better job managing American interests in Afghanistan than President Obama. The retired Republican made the insult while doing a phone-in interview for Greta Van Susteren´s Fox News show on Tuesday. He argued that the President made a serious error by failing to negotiate a status forces agreement with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Gawker points out that such an agreement would effectively commit the United States to having a certain number of troops in the country for a number of years beyond the already-agreed-upon plan which

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said the fault of struggling to sign up on the Obamacare exchanges didn’t lie with the faulty website, but with the people who weren’t “educated on how to use the Internet.” Explaining the reasoning behind the latest Obamacare delay, Reid said too many people just didn’t know to use their computer properly and needed more time. Apparently, it had nothing to do with the well-documented failings of the website that have embarrassed the White House for months. “We have hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up who didn’t get through,” he said.

Okay, THAT was certainly embarrassing. At the end of a joint news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in the Netherlands on Tuesday, the applause for Barack Obama came from a grand total of one guy. One. After thanking the crowd twice for suffering through his boring, standard worn-out spiel, Obama looked around the room, expecting the usual fanfare and applause he receives from his loyal followers back home. It never came. Instead, the Leader of the Free World was met with one slow, awkward clap. Question: was MSNBC’s Chris Matthews in the house?

U.S. President Barack Obama and Pope Francis met Thursday for the first time at Vatican City, offering a chance for a reset of sorts between the administration and Catholic leadership following years of strained relations. The two world leaders greeted each other with a smile and a handshake, and posed for pictures before sitting down across a table from each other. The goal of the meeting: Focus on areas where two of the world´s most influential men agree and gently tread ground where they differ. The President and the Pontiff will, as the White House said in a statement, focus on "shared commitment

Nearly six in 10 people disapprove of President Obama´s job performance in a new poll by the Associated Press, the highest rating recorded by the newswire. According to the AP-GFK survey released Wednesday, 59 percent disapprove of Obama´s job performance while 41 percent approve. A similar poll released by the news outlet in January found 45 percent approved of him while 53 percent disapproved. Other recent polling has found Obama´s disapproval rating slightly lower, remaining in the low 50s. A CBS News poll Tuesday showed 50 percent disapproval, while Gallup has his disapproval at 52 percent. In the AP poll,

As the U.S. Supreme Court weighed the constitutionality of a contraception coverage mandate Tuesday morning, a federal appeals court heard a separate legal challenge that could have much more sweeping implications for the future of President Obama´s health care law. And if the oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit are any indication, it’s time for the White House to start sweating over a lawsuit that up until now has flown relatively below the radar. At issue in the case are the subsidies that the federal government provides for individuals purchasing insurance through Obamacare. Though the text

On Wednesday, Obama administration officials announced a two week extension in the deadline to enroll in the Affordable Care Act or face a penalty defined as a tax. Asked about this “delay” in the implementation of the ACA on Wednesday, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said that there has been no delay. He added that some of the users who experienced problems with the website early on need more time, partially because “people are not educated about how to use the internet.” “There’s no hiccup or delay,” Reid insisted. “We had hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up and

On Tuesday night two things happened. 1. A trio of Secret Service agents were sent home from Amsterdam after one was found passed out drunk in a hotel hallway. 2. The Obama Administration announced (another) extension of the enrollment deadline for Obamacare signups. At first glance, these two events have little in common with one another. But, modern politics is all about narratives and storylines. And, both of these events confirm a growing concern from the public about President Obama: That he´s just not up to governing his administration and, by extension, the country, effectively.

One by one, the myths of the Affordable Care Act have been revealed. When the curtain on open enrollment falls on March 31, the last remaining big myth of ObamaCare will be fully exposed: The individual mandate has failed. After a last-ditch effort with President Obama himself encouraging "young invincibles" to sign up before the deadline, the administration is scrambling to boost enrollment. On Tuesday, the White House announced that people who applied for coverage on the federal health-insurance exchange will have until mid-April to finish the paperwork. The mandate was supposed to be the administration´s magical elixir for the assorted shortcomings

More than six million Americans have now signed up for private insurance under the Affordable Care Act, according to the White House, with just four days to go until the end of its first open enrollment period. While traveling in Italy on Thursday, President Obama shared the news in a conference call with thousands of health-care navigators and volunteers helping enroll people on state and federal marketplaces. As the volume of consumers seeking health plans has surged -- there were over 1.5 million visits to HealthCare.gov Wednesday and more than 430,000 calls to the marketplaces´ call centers -- Obama urged those on
