The Power Of Drudge: A Little
Civics Lesson For Janet Napolitano
And Barack Obama

Forbes Magazine, by Ralph Benko

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 5/12/2013 11:33:58 AM

Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, is on the list of potential Democratic presidential candidates compiled by the extraordinarily astute Prez16.com . As a cabinet secretary (and as a potential, if dark horse, presidential nominee) Madame Secretary should refrain from slurring the Drudge Report, as recently she did, a slur Drudge, confidently, featured. Drudge is no fan of Napolitano. He regularly tweaks her as “Big Sis” (presumably an allusion to George Orwell’s “Big Brother”). Drudge is one of the most powerful — and widely respected — forces in the news business today.

Comments:
King Barry and Janet (From another Planet) Napolitano owe DRUDGE, Forbes and America an apology.

I like the collection of news stories on Drudge because one can choose the news one is interested in. On TV one has to sit through all the nonsense stories to hear anything of value, which is rare.

Drudge was the first journalist with the nerve to print the truth wherever he finds it. I used to watch his TV show. He got up and walked out and never looked back with they told him he could not use a picture of a baby(fetus) in the womb grabbing hold of the surgeon´s hand as he operated on the mother and child. I was so proud of Drudge at that moment and wished he were my son so I could tell him and give him a big hug. I am shocked that Big Sis thinks anyone would actually vote for her after the many fiasco´s she is responsible for . Vanity, thy name is Democrat politician.

Yep, #15, Lucianne is first in my rotation too. I love reading the comments especially. Thank you, Ms. Lucianne for running such a classy place. I can direct anyone here and know they will find truth without the comments being laced with profanity. That means a lot to me.

I love Drudge because he doesn´t change his format. It is straight forward and I like that. Plus, no one can ignore the "siren" when he puts it up.

The new media is kicking butt. It is the first place I go for news. I turn on FOX News only to find out that I already know that.

Drudge tried with all his might to elect Romney. He cherry picked polls and led us to believe the election was close and Romney was winning, ignoring people like Nate Silver who actually understand polls, know how to aggregate them, and who scoff at bs like ´skewed polls´. I think Drudge lost his mojo.

I check out Drudge first then go to Lucianne to find the articles references so I can read comments of Ldotters after reading article. Must admit that I often read comments before reading article too. Certain Posters have so much on the ball they give me insight that helps understand news items. Other Posters are so quick to defend the party line that I regularly use their posts to understand the opposite of their projections, rejections and lame connections. For years the Repub party had my total loyalty. No more. The Repub party left me. Blind defense of Establishment is not a good way to change the country. Only when we get rid of the elites and reform the government will we have a strong prosperous moral country again. Moderates think we can just tweak things a bit without overhauling the bloated government agencies. Also moderates want to keep their power and perks. Go reform. Go Cruz. Thank you Palin for backing Cruz over the establishment Dewberry.

Big Sis in her comfortable shoes -- isn´t watching the border. If the liar/in/chief is lying through his teeth -- then his resident stooge is -- as well..

So my fellow Americans -- I think Texas and the other bordering states should hire private security people to man the fence/border. Or perhaps -- since the summer is upon US -- WE should visit Texas and document the illegal aliens crossing into our "sovereign country"......

If Big Sis won´t enforce our country´s laws -- then perhaps WE private citizens should be making "citizen´s arrest" (as goober pile would say)...

That, in a nutshell, is the very essence of the Won´s administration.

Lucianne first (my home page), then Drudge.
I´m sure all astute Ldotters know that Drudge´s first major scoop was the "blue dress" story. It was our own Lucianne who gave it to him.

Homeland Security was a bad idea that people rushed into after 9-11. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Too much power, too concentrated. Napolitano is a despot, no question. But the agency itself deeds to be broken up. It´s a bigger threat than Al Qaeda.

Drudge is good but Lucianne is witty beyond words, which is one of the reasons I came to this site back in 1998 or 1999. Gosh, it´s about 14 years ago now - how time flies.

What´s needed in the media is plain-speaking, which is sorely lacking from the traditionalists in the mainstream. I despair at the fact that those who claim to report news are actually selling viewpoints. I also recoil from items that are completely trivial but which seem to occupy the first ten minutes of the nightly news services. We have to get in there and set them straight - there´s no other way.

Along with all the other reasons already mentioned here, Matt Drudge also has a very wicked sense of humor. Usually appearing in the morning, he will arrange links and pictures on the page in such a way that sends a very subtle, yet loud message without saying a word.

The other thing I love already mentioned here is the fact that Lucianne´s place is STILL a salon. It is getting harder and harder to read any of the commenting over on Breitbart. There are several regular trolls over there that make the place into a vulgar saloon and I suspect I am not the only person to notice. The absence of several long time commenters is very obvious now. If they don´t get a handle on this problem, they will be in big trouble.

In spite of what #20 says, I don´t think Drudge lost his mojo when he failed to predict the presidential election. He simply did not comprehend the depth and breadth of the Democrats´ vote stealing and manufacturing ability.

You wonder why people are not so starry-eyed about BHO in his second term? It´s because most authentic voters didn´t vote for him, and on some level the country realizes that.

How can any decent person like reading a page them be hit with a refresh and slammed back to the top of the page. Then I have to scroll back down and find my place again.

When that happens I want to kick an incompetent webmaster in the crotch. I feel the same way about popups like on townhall, hot air and similar sites. If I want to subscribe I think I know how to find a subscribe button without it being thrown in my face. They don´t get read either.

I am a slow reader and getting slammed to the top two or three times trying to read his page is too irritating. Thus I rarely read him anymore.

It´s one thing to refresh if he has some new important information to include. But that´s not the case, it´s just refresh to irritate readers.

When Drudge has the integrity to fix it then I´ll go back to reading his site.

Be ready for a scam. Obama and the tong win the House and Hillary is put in as speaker. She does not have to be a congress-person.
Then almost immediately Obama and Biden resign. Hillary is third in line to presidency.
Then she runs in 2016 as incumbent president. she may get two terms as it could be less than ten yrs total.

The state Board of Public Utilities rejected a proposal by Fishermen’s Energy to build a windmill farm three miles off the state’s southern coast, deciding it placed too much potential risk of soaring electric bills for ratepayers. The proposal’s five turbines would have generated about 25 megawatts of electricity, but depended on a mixture of subsidies and federal grants to make sure ratepayers didn’t get

A bill before Iraq´s parliament that opponents say legalises child marriage and marital rape has sparked controversy ahead of elections as secular activists face off against the draft law´s backers. The bill, the Jaafari Personal Status Law, sets out rules to do with inheritance, marriage and divorce. Supporters of the draft, named after a Shiite Muslim school of jurisprudence, say it simply regulates practices already existing in day-to-day life. Opponents say the bill represents a step back for women´s rights in Iraq, and worry that it could further fray already fragile sectarian ties between the country´s various communities amid heightened violence ahead of

President Barack Obama on Wednesday said he could use some company with the rest of the First Family out of the country. "Michelle and the girls are on their way to China, it´s very lonely at home," Obama told an audience ahead of a screening of the movie "Cesar Chavez" at the White House. "So nothing better than to see an inspiring film, and I´m really looking forward to seeing the chronicled life of one of my heroes and one of the people who inspired me to get into the work I got into." Secretary of State John Kerry called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday morning to protest insults the Israeli defense minister directed at the Obama administration this week, the State Department said. In a speech at Tel Aviv University on Monday, Moshe Ya’alon criticized President Obama for having a weak foreign policy, and said Israel could no longer rely on the United States to lead nuclear negotiations with Iran. “Secretary Kerry spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu this morning. And he protested to him his concerns about these comments,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday. The U.S., Psaki reaffirmed, maintains an “unshakable

Remember that time the George W. Bush administration simultaneously invaded Russia, Iran, China, and North Korea? Apparently, according to the New York Times report today on the Obama administration’s foreign-policy readjustment, a former national-security aide to Obama does. The Times’s article is an in-depth look at how the Obama administration’s naïve worldview has shattered on the rocks of reality. Only they don’t know what to replace it with, because they still seem to think they’re running against George Bush. The guiding principle of Obama administration strategy, to try to figure out what Bush would do and then do the opposite all

In a question and answer session at Stanford Center at Peking University in Beijing, China, First Lady Michelle Obama said that sometimes one needs to do things she´s uncomfortable with. She made the comments in response to a question about studying abroad. (Snip) The first lady responded, "Excellent. And one thing that you pointed out that I think it’s important to consider is not letting fear be your guide. Andthat’s oftentimes what holds many young people back from doing fabulous things. ONCE upon a time I had a cat named Lucky, and the name fit. She turned up on our doorstep as a stray and stayed with us for 10 years, until her rather gruesome demise. (More about that later.) I liked her because she was a free spirit, and a survivor, going out for two, three, even five days, in all seasons. She’d show up when it suited her, waiting in the dark before dawn till I came downstairs and turned on my desk lamp. Then she’d make her presence known by rising up on her hind legs and gently

First daughter Sasha Obama cut a stylish figure in jeans and shades as the Obama girls visited the Great Wall of China today. Michelle Obama, Malia, 15, and Sasha, 12, were left alone to explore the Mutianyu section of the historical landmark in the northern Beijing suburbs though Chinese police officers looked on protectively. The three walked a stretch of the wall that looks out to a massive rock inscription on a hillside that reads in Chinese: ´Loyal to Chairman Mao.´ The country has been fascinated by Mrs Obama´s ´elegance´ during the weeklong visit to the country to promote educational

A feminist studies professor at a California state university is facing criminal charges after a videotaped run-in with a teenage pro-life demonstrator in which she snatched an anti-abortion sign and appeared to get physical with the girl. University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one misdemeanor count each of theft, battery and vandalism in the March 4 incident, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday. The charges came days after 16-year-old Thrin Short and her parents met with prosecutors. Thrin told authorities what she told FoxNews.com earlier this month: She, her older

First lady Michelle Obama told students that freedom of speech should be a universal right during her extravagant, no-press-allowed tour of China — a hypocritical move that will surely draw the ire of critics, according to an expert. “That is troublesome. That goes beyond hypocritical, and I think the American media and the international media has every right to call her and the Obama administration on that — that they permitted that to happen,” said Tom Whalen, a political history professor at Boston University. “It makes you shake your head, albeit sadly.” The first lady stopped at Peking University in Beijing yesterday

When Washington, D.C., councilman and former Mayor Marion Barry this week said that whites need to be “more open-minded” about African-American politicians, claiming “blacks are more open-minded than” whites, he was suggesting that whites can´t do what blacks do -- embrace the other race. But a new study of 212 black college students made available to Secrets found little open-mindedness: Blacks don´t like it when other blacks associate with whites, to the point of refusing help to an African-American experiencing “a run of bad luck” -- just because they have white friends. In a constituent meeting gone awry that was captured on shaky, amateur video, embattled Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) berated a group of local activists who oppose amnesty legislation, suggesting they were racist and saying they didn´t have “any damn facts.” “You´re telling me what people have told you? You don´t have any damn facts!” Ellmers exploded at one of the activists when he said that employers – who often claim a labor shortage to argue for amnesty – frequently don´t post job openings in that region.

First lady Michelle Obama told a group of Chinese students Saturday that free speech is a universal right that makes countries stronger. Nations are “stronger and more prosperous” when people’s opinions are heard," Obama said during her trip to China, which employs some of the strictest limits on the Internet. “We respect the uniqueness of other cultures and societies, but when it comes to expressing yourself freely and worshipping as you choose and having open access to information, we believe those universal rights — they are universal rights that are the birthright of every person on this planet,” she said

One of four gubernatorial candidates introduced to California Republicans recently is a registered sex offender who spent more than a decade in state prison, convicted of crimes including voluntary manslaughter and assault with intent to commit rape. (Snip) Champ, a little-known political neophyte from the Fresno County community of Tollhouse, did not directly mention his criminal past during his speech but said, "In my life, I´ve been held accountable because of my stupidity. They could make a movie out of Moochelle Obama’s trip to China, except they already have: “The Ugly American.” It was bad enough when the first lady and her posse of 70 or so coat-holders took off on yet another globe-trotting adventure, but then she said it was “rare” that she got out of the United States. And now they’re holed up in an $8,350-a-night “presidential suite” at the Westin Hotel in Beijing. Aren’t presidential suites supposed to be reserved for, oh I don’t know, presidents? Now we learn that the grandmother, Marian Robinson, “is barking at the staff.” Barking? Surely Comrade Chris Matthews
