This love is terrifying. Thousands of American teen girls are crushing on Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19 — and leading a social-media movement to exonerate him. The swooning teens will not accept allegations that the college kid — whom they refer to by his nickname, “Jahar” — and his brother, Tamerlan, 26, killed three and maimed hundreds by setting off bombs at the April 15 race. While some scrawl the hashtag “#FreeJahar” on their hands with markers, an 18-year-old in Topeka, Kan., is going to the extreme — she wants Dzhokhar’s words inked on her arm forever.
Why is this so unexpected? With the media working overtime to make the bombers the victims, poor misunderstood souls who are somehow "cool" and trendy, is it any wonder teen age girls swoon for him? That´s what teen girls do, like the Bieber lemmings. How many hours and pounds of print have been written about "Jahar"? Do these girls even know or remember an eight year old boy was murdered along with the Chinese foreign student and young woman? Ask a survivor how awesome it is to live without limbs.
You might as well ask a leming why it goes over the cliff as one of these idiots. Stupid, yes. My real contempt is for the members of the media who make it their life long ambition to make victims out of murderers while diminishing the very real pain of the victims, their families, and ultimately the soul of the nation.
Lemmings go over cliffs into water not to commit suicide but to swim to an area where there is more food due to overpopulation of their current area. Far from being stupid, they are sensible, trying to better themselves as it were. Consequently, comparing these girls who love Bieber and "Jahar" to lemmings is patently unfair to the lemmings, since the concept of bettering themselves doesn´t seem to be a factor in these girls´ lives.
I know I should be outraged but the whole article made me laugh. He is cute in his pictures, he won´t be nearly so cute when he gets to court, gunshot wounds to the face usually leave scars. He went straight to prison where he will be living for the rest of his life, his groupies will move on to another lost cause, and he will move on to decades of living among men who speak Arabic, not ones who speak Russian. He will trouble us no more.
For decades the pop culture has been full of messages that all it takes to redeem the baddest of bad boys is for a sweet middle class female to have sex with him. In real life it never ends well for the girl.
What the moral relativist movement has produced is a thought process that acknowledging or determining a problem is the end and that any judgement on outside the norm behavior, after determining the problem is judgmental and wrong. If this kid is a savage mass murderer and we found out that its because he didn´t fit in with Americans because his religion didn´t allow it and his brother was very influential with him, these people say "Oh, okay, we understand", and give him tha pass because understanding why is enough to forgive or forget.
In this moral backwater called America notoreity is equal to or greater than a good name. Years ago when my business manager was in Chicopee, Massachusetts negotiating a sponsorship deal with a major sports manufacturer, the president of the company said, "Any publicity is good publicity." That answer by itself queered the deal for us. We didn´t want to work with anyone who couldn´t distinguish between good and bad. (That company spun off its major brand, which some players call "Rock Flite," and disappeared. Good riddance.)
The Night Stalker, Richard Ramirez, who was a Satanist and a mass murderer, attracts quite a bevy of disturbed woman, and might have even married one. That´s less uncommon than you might think for Death Row inmates. The world has plenty of people who not only choose evil over good--they seem to love evil. From their nearby but not quite adjacent vantage points the flames of hell feel comfortably warm. Around here, we call that spiritual illness. It´s difficult to cure.
Nothing new here. Women and this "bad boy" mental illness has been around forever. Goofy women used to swoon at gladiators in ancient Rome, that would be before and after they killed women and children.
I have read accounts that they were sexually aroused by the whole thing.
Wish we could escort these little tiny boppers through the little 8 year old victims empty bedroom and they could talk to the parents and siblings about what he was like and what his dreams were. Don´t know what that little boy´s mom felt when she was told of her loss if she has recovered yet. The left has created one sorry culture for us all.
Plus, these young women are at an age where they like to feel "motherly." In his photos, he just looks so winsome & misunderstood...doesn´t he? Add to that, recent generations of kids have had it drilled into their tiny heads that EVERYbody is equal! Diversity is awesome! & they smugly pride themselves on being nonjudgemental (unlike the old fogies)!
If I met up with one of these nonthinkers I would smile and ask them if they had a little 8 yr old brother they wished dead, or maybe a young sister that was a better dancer/track star they couldn´t compete against - or maybe they want a parent with one less eye .... btw --- the smile is fictitious.
A conundrum. I have worked with several lady legislators who are smart, hard working thinkers and are huge contributors to the conservative movement. I have friends and family women that do use their brains, and well.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of airhead females where their ingrained biological nurturing sense has zero logical counterbalance. These women are dangerously unable to distinguish between a kitten and a rattlesnake.
At times, I momentarily question giving women the vote because of this hard wired emotional nature. Then I remember all the wonderfully smart, hard working THINKERS in my life that happen to be women.
I guess the difference is that airhead males don´t feel a primal urge to hug a rattlesnake. They can still see it is a rattlesnake, not a kitten.
#28, according to a March 2013 article in the Examiner, Jodi Arias has a fan club. Seventy (70) percent of her admirers are male. They think she´s hot. They also think she´s innocent. Hot equals innocent, I guess.
President Obama promised to mend the failings in the American health-care system, and yet for cancer treatment, ObamaCare is taking a rotten feature of the old system and making it worse. The Affordable Care Act expands a program called 340B, which siphons money from drug makers and insurers to subsidize certain hospitals. The program has been expanded as a way to offset some of the cuts that the law imposes on hospitals. One significant side effect: 340B is increasing the cost of cancer care—and harming its quality. When the program began in 1992, its aim was to support
Most Americans would agree that academic freedom is a sacred right of the academy and crucial to the American experiment in democracy. But what is it really? That´s the question raised by the Associated Press´s July 16 release of emails between Mitch Daniels, when he was the governor of Indiana, and his staff concerning Howard Zinn´s "A People´s History of the United States." The emails were written in 2010 and Mr. Daniels, whose second term as governor ended this January, is now president of Purdue University in Indiana. Published in 1980, Zinn´s "A People´s History"
Fiscal Policy: President Obama has proposed a "grand bargain" with Republicans: They get a tax cut for corporations, he gets more money to spend on worthless government stimulus. That´s no bargain — that´s surrender. In the latest attempt by Democrats to disguise GOP capitulation as centrist "compromise," Obama said he´ll sign off on a cut in the corporate tax rate from 35% to 28% — with an even lower rate of 25% for manufacturers — if Republicans will agree to spend more on Obama´s "investments" and OK a tax hike on U.S. companies doing business overseas.
In Chattanooga on Tuesday, the latest stop on his economic inequality tour, President Obama made himself an offer he couldn´t refuse. If Congressional Republicans agree to a corporate tax increase, he said, then he´ll agree to spend more money on his favorite public-works projects. If Republicans bargain hard, will he also offer an expansion of ObamaCare as a sweetener? We know this sounds like an exaggeration, but that´s the essence of what the President proposed as what he called a new "grand bargain." Mr. Obama will agree to reform the corporate tax code—a GOP priority and one
Cabinet: Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee reportedly is vying to replace Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security secretary. It would be hard to find a choice worse than the gonzo Houston Democrat. Jackson-Lee has the backing of the Congressional Black Caucus, which has been aggressively lobbying President Obama to diversify his Cabinet. Given Obama´s radical second-term picks — from Thomas Perez to Mel Watt — we can´t be sure he´ll pass on the recommendation, nutty as it is. According to the Houston Chronicle, the head of the Black Caucus last week in a letter to Obama praised Jackson-Lee as a "voice of reason" for Homeland
Obamanomics: The president has been decrying the growing gap between rich and poor in the U.S. to help sell his retread tax-and-spend proposals. But those policies have already produced record levels of income inequality. In his speech in Illinois last week, and at events since, Obama described income inequality in the starkest terms. "This growing inequality is morally wrong," he said, and "undermines the very essence of America." To be sure, income inequality is a standard trope for liberals, who always use it to advocate more wealth redistribution. And Obama´s latest focus neatly coincides with his plans to push
RUSH: Angela in Dallas, it´s great to have you. I´m glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello. CALLER: Hi, Rush. So good to talk to you. Thanks for taking my call. RUSH: You bet. CALLER: I just about choked on my coffee this morning when I heard the recommendation by the Black Caucus for Sheila Jackson Lee to be the head of DHS. I´m from Texas, and this woman is a colossal embarrassment to the majority of the citizens of Texas.
Huma Abedin, the wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), dined Monday night with Hillary Clinton´s spokesman Philippe Reines. The two were spotted at Meiwah, a Chinese restaurant in Washington, D.C., according to reports. The public meeting comes amid speculation that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are concerned about the fallout as Weiner struggles to regain a foothold in the race for New York City mayor after new revelations emerged about his lewd online behavior. Reports citing many close to the Clintons said the couple was angered by comparisons between their
RUSH: Now, yesterday I mentioned a comment in a sort of throwaway fashion, and we had a caller who was asking me... I forget the specific issue he was asking me about, but it was something where for years, Washington, both parties have been saying something. And then when the opportunity comes to them to back it up, all of a sudden they don´t. I was explaining about how in 25 years of doing this program, things are starting to repeat now. I´m starting to learn when politicians have said things they don´t really mean.
RUSH: The Weiner Stack is growing. His fortunes are shrinking. In fact, there´s a piece here by Tina Brown, there´s two things here that are actually interesting. There´s a piece by Tina Brown in which she says we gotta stop with all the dickmanship. Yeah. Here it is. Tina Brown shares her thoughts on what she called "dickmanship," and we gotta get rid of it. And then, folks, are you ready for this? Let me find this. I´m gonna have to paraphrase it. I´m really sorry.
Who the heck does Huma think she is? That´s the question "a top [New York] state Democrat" is asking about Anthony Weiner´s wife, according to a report by Fred Dicker of the New York Post. "The Clintons are pis$$ed off that Weiner´s campaign is saying that Huma is just like Hillary,´´ Dicker´s Dem declares. "How dare they compare Huma with Hillary? Hillary was the first lady. Hillary was a senator. She was secretary of state." Being called low-class by the Clintons has got to hurt. But we don´t see how Dicker´s source´s comparison works to Huma´s disadvantage.
Democrats in Congress hope the Travyon Martin tragedy can help them accomplish something they have worked on for years to no avail: an end to racial profiling. "Trayvon is one of too many individuals across the country who have been victimized by a perception of criminality simply because of their race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. These individuals are denied the basic respect and equal treatment that is the right of every American," says Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who is sponsoring the End Racial Profiling Act.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. The 400 indigenous Inuit inhabitants of Kivalina, who live
Anthony Weiner may have violated federal law when he failed to disclose his lavish six-figure wedding in his financial disclosure forms, says a government accountability group. Ethics watchdog group National Legal and Policy Center examined the federal Financial Disclosure Reports for both Weiner and long-suffering wife Huma Abedin for 2010, the year of their wedding. The cost for the ceremony was at least $100,000 but probably ran closer to $250,000 including all
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
A group of experts advising the nation’s premier cancer research institution has recommended sweeping changes in the approach to cancer detection and treatment, including changes in the very definition of cancer and eliminating the word entirely from some common diagnoses. (Snip) The group, which includes some of the top scientists in cancer research, also suggested that many lesions detected during breast, prostate, thyroid, lung and other cancer screenings should not be called cancer at all but should instead be reclassified as IDLE conditions, which stands for “indolent lesions of
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
