CBS Anchor: ´We Are Getting Big
Stories Wrong, Over and Over Again´

Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

CBS anchor Scott Pelley said at a speech at Quinnipiac University that journalists "are getting big stories wrong, over and over again." "Our house is on fire," said Pelley. The video of Pelley´s speech is courtesy of nowthisnews.com. "These have been a bad few months for journalism," he added. "We´re getting the big stories wrong, over and over again." The CBS newsreader was quick to take at least partial blame. "Let me take the first arrow: During our coverage of Newtown, I sat on my set and I reported that Nancy Lanza was a teacher at the school.

He gets up every night and in his low, slow voice reads out leftist gibberish, and suddenly he has any opinion at all about the right and the wrong of it? Huh.

Why doesn´t he just go to the window and start shouting at the night sky, that the public is getting on his nerves for asking about facts and boring stuff like that, that CBS News no longer gives a fig about.

Hey Scott,,how did Obama and the left lose the gun argument despite having the perfect tragedy dropped in their lap?Is it possible that people were put off by the endless exploitation of the families? Could it be that there just aren´t enough knee jerk people in this country to do away with a Constitutional amendment? Why are all the news deck editors blocking stories that shed a bad light on Obama,he´s not running again(so far as we know).

Is it really legal for a branch of the government to raise private funds which could lead to them getting favorable treatment, violating other people´s equal protection.
How do we know if people, firms that donated to Obama´s inauguration haven´t received special treatment or taxpayer grants?

Hey Scott, how about leading te news with the fact that Obama´ green jobs have cost the tax payers $11 million each?

If one can be "damned by faint praise" as in Marc Antony´s eulogy to Caesar, then surely one can be "double-damned by faint criticism" as in Scott Pelley´s lame elegy on the death of american journalism.

The pity is that the dumbing-down of american education is such that most of the useful idiots who represent journalism probably do not know the difference.

Or care.

And you and yours have made damned sure to see to it that the information the public possesses is administration spin and irrelevant fluff. But hey, Scott, neat trick: plead "mea culpa" to getting some detail of the Newtown shootings wrong, go through some set piece phony act of contrition, and your future as a cowardly, go-along administration shill is guaranteed.

When you write the narrative first and then look for facts to back it up you usually get things wrong. There´s no such thing as news gathering anymore. Make a biased assumption and google to find something to back it up. Very few reporters do the actual work needed. These days it seems most of the good ones are women, Catherine Herridge, Jennifer Griffin, Claudia Rossett, Sharyl Atkisson, Lara Logan ...

When the national reporting is wrong, ´´over and over again,´´ the local network affiliates but broadcast those, ´´wrong,´´ reports as well. Thus the entire state of, ´´journalism,´´ is discredited from the top to the bottom.

Journalism´s merit is ONLY established through consistently credible reporting & quality communication, such as that currently exhibited by Melanie Phillips, Bret Baier, Sheryl Atkisson and others who simply focus on the facts, reality and truth in their reporting, rather than blatant political bias & intimidation through political correctness.

A Sec of State that flat out lies to Congress. The IRS using its powers to squelch poltical opposition. Ignoring those stories and more is the problem.

Why don´t you have a private meeting with obama, you know off the record so you can be told what to say from now on. Maybe get another million dollar contract to lie more often.

You do not want to have the CBS execs say you are "wading dangerously close to advocacy on the issue" as they did your co-worker Sharyl Attkisson for simply telling the truth about Benghazi.

It is one thing to report something incorrectly in haste, and to then correct it. It quite another thing to refuse to report on one major story after another, all with the common denominator being that these stories would embarrass The Leader, The Party, The Cause. A slavish press gives favored leaders the freedom to act corruptly without fear of consequences. Such media are a standard accomplice to every dictatorship.

No. The United States will "stand with" others in "affirming" that "there will be costs." Benghazi: Former CIA acting Director Mike Morell might be recalled for testimony to determine if he misled Congress and doctored the White House response to a terrorist attack to ensure President Obama´s re-election. The administration´s tangled web of Benghazi lies might be unraveling some more. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., has told Fox News that Morell, a former deputy director and twice acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will likely be recalled to testify.
