The Benghazi Lie
National Review Online, by Mark Steyn

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 5/10/2013 5:16:17 PM

Shortly before last November’s election I took part in a Fox News documentary on Benghazi, whose other participants included the former governor of New Hampshire John Sununu. Making chit-chat while the camera crew were setting up, Governor Sununu said to me that in his view Benghazi mattered because it was “a question of character.” That’s correct. On a question of foreign policy or counterterrorism strategy, men of good faith can make the wrong decisions. But a failure of character corrodes the integrity of the state. That’s why career diplomat Gregory Hicks’s testimony

...and isn´t Hillary´ use of the video maker as a scapegoat to cover for her actions analogous to what she did to Billy Dale and the rest of the WH Travel Office Staff back in ´93?
She tried to have them jailed on false charges to cover for her putting " her people" in that office.
This woman is despicable.

The difference it makes is simple: do we live in a representative Republic or a police state?
Apparently we live in a police state. In a police state the leaders decide what you can know and what you cannot know. They are smarter than us, you see. So if they declare something to be off-limits, it will never be known. The secret that Obama was funneling arms to Muslim Extremists violated the WH narrative, you see. That Amb. Stevens was the go-between could NOT be revealed. Zippy would risk his re-election chances. Apparently Petraeus was warning Romney to back off at the same time.
In other words, re-election of Obama put the nation at risk.

There will be no penalty for this misconduct.

The Soros billions will hire as many Members of Congress, Judges, and lawyers, to protect this information. Soros is going to destroy the dollar, short it, and be come the world´s first trillionaire.

Just watch. Clinton will never face questions. Some functionary will take the blame. Susan Rice will never face questions. It will be the best coverup in history. Vince Foster, eat your heart out. This is big time.

"Hicks immediately called Washington. It was 9 p.m. Eastern time, or 3 a.m. in Libya. Remember the Clinton presidential team’s most famous campaign ad? About how Hillary would be ready to take that 3 a.m. call? Four years later, the phone rings, and Secretary Clinton’s not there. She doesn’t call Hicks back that evening. Or the following day."

Remember this if she has the gall to run for POTUS in 2016.

Mere coincidence? Richest irony? Maybe, but it seems much deeper for some reason.

Thank you for the information and the reminder, Mark Steyn. (My fearless faves - Limbaugh, Levin, and Steyn.)

Vintage Steyn:

They lied to the victims’ coffins and then strolled over to lie to the bereaved, Hillary telling the Woods family that “we’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video.” And she did. The government dispatched more firepower to arrest Nakoula Basseley Nakoula in Los Angeles than it did to protect its mission in Benghazi. It was such a great act of misdirection Hillary should have worn spangled tights and sawn Stevens’s casket in half.

Tragicomedy at its best.

Truth matters, and character matters. For the American people to accept the Obama-Clinton lie is to be complicit in it.

It remains to be seen if the American character, the spirit that made America great until the Obama years, is still functioning properly. We shall see if America as a whole has lost its conscience.

One of the most damning lines: Back in Benghazi, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty held off numerically superior forces for hours before dying on a rooftop waiting for back-up from a government that had switched the answering machine on and gone to Vegas.

Hillary´s résumé is one disaster after another.

This article is brilliant. It is Mr Steyn at his best. He captures the soul of the progressives like Hillary, Obama, Cummings and Soros. It is a very dark, dangerous, power hungry, greedy, evil and unbelievably callous philosophy that permeates the very core of who these people are. It is said the truth shall set you free. Please make it so. The country needs to be free of progressives who want to fundamentally change us.

The Obama administration has created a culture of failure since the beginning. The failures they did not create were events that happened and were mishandled at a level of competence that would embarrass a second grader.

How very ironic that the MSM was asking the question, "does character count in a leader" way back during billy jeff´s Monica Lewinsky fiasco, in an attempt to try to convince us that it does not. It counted then and it counts now. Our leadership is lacking all of the necessary qualities that it takes to lead.

The liar/in/chief and his minions have sold their souls to the highest bidder -- the political hacks of Chicago....that includes jarret, axerod, ranting rahm, etc.

Trust me -- the politicians were in the War Room on that fateful night as four men died -- twisting and spinning the truth to suit their narrative. They saved obama´s re/election with the stand/down order and the cover/up....

So now the lame/duck president is not only a liar -- he´s got blood on his hands -- because at the end of the day -- it was HIS call that denied the rescue for his own cheap gain....

I would like to know what President Romney was "told" to make him back off his concerns. I´ll bet the liar/in/chief told him it was national security. AND being the good man he is -- he backed off and it cost America a valuable President...

What we need to understand is... this administration DOES believe they are doing the right thing. Forcing the "Arab Spring" on the world and righting the wrongs of the west is all that matters to these incompetents, and truth can take a back seat. The left is running our federal government and our media, and we conservatives better wake up. Their world view will destroy our republic if we don´t unite. I too believe very little will come of this, so our ONLY hope is to vote for Republicans, keep the House, and take back control of the Senate. We MUST remove the left from control of Washington!

Excellent, as always, Mr. Steyn.

One of the more ´specious´ reasons given by the Administration and their fellow liars for not sending help is, "It doesn´t matter if help was on the way to Benghazi; they couldn´t have gotten there in time anyway."

As several have pointed out, at the time nobody knew how long this attack would last - it could have been ten hours or ten days. That argument is one of the more sickening explanations put forth by Obama´s palace guard and other loyal henchmen who want to save and protect his sorry butt - and Hillary´s.

#17, I agree with you on the immediate need to vote for Republicans in order to remove the left from control of Washington, but that´s a short-term and expedient solution when Republican governance turns out to be nothing more than Democrat-lite. To weed out Leftists and their screed not only from Washington, but from the rest of our socially-engineered-to-death society, will necessitate something on the order of a repeat of 1776 and a whole new party to carry the banner.

While Steyn is widely read and admired, this piece deserves extra circulation - particularly in Congress.

The hardest thing to deal with in all this is the realization that it isn´t just Obama and Hillary, and it isn´t just the enemedia. Sadly, one must admit that a near-majority in this country just don´t care. Or worse, they support these character-devoid Marxists no matter how incompetent or how treasonous their actions are.

The lies are now exposed. The truth is out there, even if only in limited sources. So where´s the outcry? Where are the demands for resignation or impeachment? Answer: nowhere.

This is a sad day to be an American, to realize that those of us who are committed to the values and ideals of what it means to be an American, are now in perhaps a permanent minority.

This article was indeed exceptional. All of it is a damning indictment of 0bama, Clinton and the rest of his vile regime. 0bama has done nothing but corrode the integrity of this country since the day he took the Oath of Office (that in itself is a joke as it pertains to him). I will never understand why more and more people are unable to see what an absolutely dangerous, malevolent man he is. I can´t even look at him anymore without becoming enraged and sickened.

This is a very concise article by Steyn.
After witnessing the actions of Obama and Clinton I am convinced that they were protecting the lives of muslim terrorist against destruction by our trained special forces. Obama was protecting his narrative that the war on terror was over and the Muslim Brotherhood and Arab Spring was a peaceful movement right up to his re-election.
Now Obama and Clinton must confront the lie along with their media dupes.

As we can see, the coverup is only part of the story. I wouldn´t be surprised if the coverup is part of the coverup. The media is not focusing on anything else. Find a fall guy for the changed talking points and it´s case closed.
The ball is in Congress´ court to get more evidence out there before the media pulls out. It´s funny, isn´t it? The media seemingly only care that they were lied to and not four unnecessary deaths and monumental incompetence.

Steyn is brilliant, as always. This is, indeed, a test of the American character and I’m afraid that the Marxists have been successful in their quest to fashion a society with a majority of people who are mal-educated, self-centered, and devoid of moral guidance. I pray I’m wrong and that the stench from this malfeasance will get the attention of the sheep.

The GOP must not stop at the exposure of the lies and be relentless in revealing the reason for the cover-up. Where and what was the Commander-in-Chief doing during the attack? Where and what was the Secretary of State doing that she couldn’t take a phone call from the ranking government official in Libya during the attack? Where is the maker of the video? Was he a complicit operative as well?

I’m struck by the obvious conclusion that Barky was resting up for the all-important campaign fundraiser in Vegas. It is reminiscent of another famous dictator who lost his Third Reich because he was sleeping and could not be awakened to order the Panzer divisions to support Normandy. We’ve all been expecting a Reichstag event, when it appears we should have been expecting D-Day.

Hillary would disagree that with Mark that "truth matters". She basically told those proles she considers "obssessed" with her: "Whatever the truth ... what difference does it make?" Assume rightly that "truth" makes no difference to her anyway, and makes no difference to the protected coward who still has not been forced to admit he have the orders to "stand down". Benghazi was murder, derelection, and a bit of treason on behalf of Islamist enemies. Moe than that Benghazi was the first time the Obama and Company "Invisible Revolution" was revealed. It was the first time these "progressives" are finally revealed to be involved in almost imponderable high crimes -- including controlling the Bovember 6 Election. True, their coverup was chilling or arrogantly clumsy and drags on. But finally it seems, even to those among the gay press, that they are not like us. They are not American.

#6 you are absolutely on target. Where was Obama our Commander in Chief the evening of 9/11. As C.I.C, Obama is the only one with the authority to issue commands at that level. If it had been left to the Pentagon to deliberate action at Benghazi they would have unequivocally ordered jets from our nearest airbase , probably Sicily . ( 25 min´s away from Benghazi). The hearings on Wednesday is just the beginning and this President and Administration´s lieing will not stand up to further scrutiny.

My belief,#36, is that the upside of standing down is that the obama administration could not be seen fighting terrorists when a big part of barry´s campaign revolved around the triumph over all terrorists in the world. They did not have enough time on the night of the 11th to try to explain that, so they made up something really stupid as the cause. People died but barry got reelected, that´s all that mattered to him and the flying monkeys who polish his boots.

That mattered in the election, and it will matter in the next election. No matter the level of incompetence, the liberal media is never going to disparage the first black President. That´s just the way it is in American these days.

I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is "hellbent" on passing amnesty legislation, and other GOP leaders are signaling to donors and lobbyists that they also want to pass legislation this Congress, even though attempting to do so would depress the GOP base and create divisions within the party ahead of 2014´s midterm elections that could give Republicans control of Congress. According to the Wall Street Journal, Boehner told donors at a Las Vegas fundraiser in March that he was "hellbent on getting this done this year." After he met with President Barack Obama at the White House in February, Boehner said that

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

Hillary Clinton´s upcoming memoir, which is expected to look back at her time as secretary of State, now has a name: Hard Choices. Which is an okay title! She no doubt had to make some tough decisions while at State, and has at least one big decision to make coming up in the next year or so. But the former Cabinet member and possible future presidential candidate may have been better served by a different title—like, say, Tough Decisions. Because Hard Choices has already been used. By another former secretary of State. In 1983, Cyrus Vance, who served as secretary of State

Regardless of how people feel about Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the federal Bureau of Land Management over his cattle’s grazing rights, a lot of Americans were surprised to see TV images of an armed-to-the-teeth paramilitary wing of the BLM deployed around Bundy’s ranch. They shouldn’t have been. Dozens of federal agencies now have Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams to further an expanding definition of their missions. It’s not controversial that the Secret Service and the Bureau of Prisons have them. But what about the Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy “domestic terrorists” Thursday, turning up the rhetorical heat on the already tense situation at the Nevada cattle operation. “Those people who hold themselves out to be patriots are not. They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists,” Mr. Reid in remarks at a luncheon, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which sponsored the event. “… I repeat: What went on up there was domestic terrorism.” The Nevada Democrat was referring to the hundreds of Bundy backers — some armed, some from out of state — who congregated at the ranch last week in

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
