Benghazi: Incompetence,
but no cover-up

National Journal, by Michael Hirsh

Original Article

Posted By:Fiesta del sol, 5/8/2013 6:04:54 PM

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. Bush years -- led by that least-credible of champions, the almost-always-wrong Darrell Issa --

Professional incompetence resulting in deaths is generally referred to as "criminal negligence". People go to jail for that, from time to time.

And by "no cover-up" does he mean the fact that the Ambassador´s savaged body was not covered up as it was dragged through the streets of Benghazi? Certainly Obama slept well covered up under his blankets in his cozy little White House room that night.

I´ll ask of Hillary and co. the same type question she asked of the Bush Administration concerning 9/11/2001: "What did you know and when did you know it?"

And I´ll add this: Where the hell were you and Obama, that miserable SOB we call president, when all this Benghazi stuff was hitting the fan?

In bed? Fund-raising? Partying? Smoking crack? (Some will interpret that last question as racist. But white folks do crack too.)

Whaddayamean no coverup? What was Susan Rice doing peddling the phony video story 5 times on one Sunday? Why were PIAPS and the Poseur trotting out that excuse for weeks? They knew, they didn´t care, and they relied on, and still rely on their nursemaids, the msm to protect them. So far they are.

BTW, Candy Crowley should be sued by Mitt Romney.

Obama trotted out his infamous line about ´the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam´ in a speech at the general assembly of the UN a full two weeks after Benghazi when he and Clinton and all the Obama conspirators KNEW THE ATTACK HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE YOU TUBE VIDEO. Yet he was still making the case that the attack was caused by an anti-Muslim movie trailer two weeks later.
(Please excuse the outburst, but that makes me so mad every time I think about it I could spit!)
Watergate was a cover-up too, but nobody died in Watergate. Obama deserves to be frog-marched out of the White House in cuffs.

Then Michael you should be very afraid, if this is incompetence then the country is in grave danger with this crew in charge. This is not some Republican effort, the Republicans did not make any of this up, this is something that the Obama administration created and it is something that the American people, the citizens of this county should know about. It is also something that the families of those who were killed should get answers on. People died, American citizens died because of this incompetence.

Uh... somebody told our soldiers to "stand down" and no military aid was sent.

Our State Department and military had no idea how long our Ambassador and the brave men with him would be able to hold out against the attackers... and still our government let them die...and decided to punt.

Then our government blamed the violence on some movie that neither the President or Hillary or Ambassador Rice had seen.

No per Hirsh... this is just plain sad..he gives us that...but tries to downplay the failure to at least try to help.

Our government and military did NOTHING.

They let these men die. Think of our guys under attack ...all the while believing our military would ride to the rescue.

Nice try Hirsh.

Wow.

I didn´t think anyone would go this far. People do have to live with themselves somehow. This man knows what he is doing. He is not fooling anybody, not even himself.

I keep thinking of the Faustian bargain in which someone sells their soul to the devil in exchange for earthly rewards. That is what Leftist journalists are doing. They are selling their souls, denying and distorting and misrepresenting the truth to protect and advance secular political interests and personal aspirations.

This is serious business. It is as serious as it gets.

What difference does "it," i.e. the truth, make? It makes a lot of difference. It makes all the difference in the world.

A self-respecting people would have broken into boos and jeers and howls derision the instant that horrid woman, Hillary Clinton, dared to utter those demonic words: What difference does it (the truth) make?

Surely there is enough incompetence to go around Washington hundreds of times, but this goes way beyond incompetence when they lie to Congress, when they lie to the relatives of the victims and when they lie to the American public. This was willful and deliberate. This was a cover up of the first degree. And to the point they they would concoct such lies goes to the root of what is really going on. What exactly are they they attempting to cover up? Incompetence or something more sinister? Well you certainly cannot trust the Obamboozler and his toadies to tell us so there has to be an investigation to get to the root cause of all this and I´ll bet we find out there more to this than just falling asleep at the wheel!

Liberals have to get their stories straight. First they said it was a protest about a video. Then they said Obama announced it was a terrorist attack the next day. Now Hirsh is saying they didn´t know for sure and didn´t want to say that it was a terrorist attack. So which one is it?

The claim by Panetta that the nearest military support was many hours away didn´t seem credible. That´s the next lie that will be exposed.

He phoned the main line of the Phoenix Police Department and was forwarded to the employee-assistance unit. Scott, founder of Shadow Mountain Mortuary, had a simple proposal. Let him take care of the entire funeral service, he said. At no cost. The officer was just one of at least a dozen fallen Phoenix police officers who would be laid to rest under Scott’s respectful watch at no cost to the families, police Cmdr. Tracy Montgomery said.

Richmond, Va. — A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld a 2012 court ruling that North Carolina´s decision to issue special anti-abortion license plates is unconstitutional because the state doesn´t offer similar plates supporting abortion rights. In a unanimous ruling, a three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the proposed "Choose Life" plates represent "blatant viewpoint discrimination squarely at odds with the First Amendment. "The decision upholds a December 2012 ruling by U.S. District Judge James Fox in Raleigh, which came 13 months after he blocked the state from issuing the plates while a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union was pending.

There´s no doubt the vast majority of Republicans in Congress would repeal Obamacare if they could. Most GOP "alternative" bills begin with a clause to repeal the Affordable Care Act before proceeding to outline new policies to put in its place. Of course, GOP lawmakers don´t have any hope of actually repealing the law as long as Barack Obama, and his veto pen, are in the White House. Now some Republicans are looking at what might be done to undo as much as possible of the Democrats´ national health care scheme without actually repealing it. Some Arizonans who secured health coverage through the federal marketplace are now finding that their new plans drastically limit the providers they can use. Metro Phoenix and Tucson residents who signed up for plans with so-called narrow networks have discovered fewer options for primary-care doctors, specialists, hospitals, pharmacies, labs and clinics. And some rural Arizonans purchasing the least-expensive plan in their communities have discovered that the nearest participating doctor is 200 miles away. Insurers and brokers acknowledge that some consumers are confused by the narrow networks, a strategy health insurers embrace to lower costs.

Racism in Iceland The assignment in question can be seen in the photo above (in Icelandic) but roughly translates to: "Men on earth are not all the same. Black people are called Negroes. Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. Broadrrick, a former Arkansas nursing home worker, accused President Clinton of raping her during the late 1970s in a 1998 Dateline interview. Malzberg was describing a double standard of media coverage during the 2012 conventions, noting left wing pundits dubbed the GOP convention a “convention of rapists” while remaining silent on President Clinton’s keynote address despite sexual assault allegations directed against the former president. King interjected “Hold up, hold up. Stop! Bill Clinton was accused of rape?” Malzberg reacted

Michelle Obama chose Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera for the gown she wore Tuesday to the state dinner honoring French President Francois Hollande. The formal, ornate style of the sumptuous gown by Ms Herrera reflected French aesthetics, from the intricate beaded black bodice, to the train and full skirt in a color called liberty blue. ´From the White House to Versailles it´s not that far,´ said Susan Swimmer, author of Michelle Obama: First Lady of Fashion and Style. ´It´s much more keeping in a French aesthetic than I´ve seen her wear before. It´s very French in terms of how ornate it

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R., Mich.) said Tuesday that the committee’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service found that 100 percent of the tax-exempt groups that were flagged and targeted with an audit were right-leaning. The Wall Street Journal reports: “We now know that the IRS targeted not only right-leaning applicants, but also right-leaning groups that were already operating as 501(c)(4)s,” Mr. Camp said in a statement. “At Washington, DC’s direction, dozens of groups operating as 501(c)(4)s were flagged for IRS surveillance, including monitoring of the groups’ activities, websites and any other publicly available information. Fiery Louis Farrakhan of Nation of Islam fame said during his weekly video sermon that white people have a history of stirring up trouble, and that Allah has chosen blacks “to give life” and sit at the “top of civilization.” He also “issued the final call,” as he termed it: “I say to the Pope and all the lovers of Jesus, if you desire, let’s have a showdown. You call the Jesus that you know, and I’ll call on the Jesus that I know, and let’s see which one of us really knows Jesus.” Mr. Farrakhan quoted widely from Elijah

Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner´s -- and the country´s -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike. Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014! Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown. Never mind Boehner´s cowardice (we´ll get to that in a moment); what kind of moron cedes that kind of maneuverability to

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in direct contact with President Barack Obama at least 18 times between October 2012 and October 2013, including seven occasions where her draft calendar showed Obamacare as the topic of conversation. The news appears to contradict her insistence that Obama was in the dark about problems plaguing the ill-fated healthcare.gov website in the months leading up to its October 1, 2013 launch. The Hill newspaper reported Thursday that documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request show meetings, events and phone calls where the two were together. They also show at

I imagine the only thing worse than being forced to watch CNN inside an airport terminal is being forced to watch it in a doctor’s office. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered a Michigan health care facility, funded by federal tax dollars, blocked Fox News Channel from its waiting room television sets. The president of Family Health Care directed staff to block Fox News after a board member complained about our network’s coverage of the Affordable Care Act, an employee told me. “The board member complained that patients were turning the channel to Fox News,” said the employee who asked

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) defended Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday after the House passed a clean debt-limit bill that raised the ire of conservatives. King branded as “morons” many conservatives in the GOP caucus who consistently oppose any effort to pass the debt limit, asserting they are the same faction that led to the government shutdown last year. “This is the same group that back in September and October went into a government shutdown that everybody knew was a disaster,” King said on MSNBC. “They ended up looking like morons following Ted Cruz over the cliff.” King had been
