It´s no fluke, but maybe the end of an error in American media: The Rush Limbaugh Program is considering ending its affiliation agreement with Cumulus Media at the end of this year, a move that would bring about one of the biggest shakeups in talk radio history, a source close to the show tells Politico. (Snip) According to the source, Limbaugh is considering the move because Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey has blamed the company´s advertising losses on Limbaugh´s controversial remarks about Sandra Fluke,
Comments: Thinking that they "know" their advertising market better, because of yet another faux boycott of their products by lamebrain liberals, Cumulus Media is threatening to remove their biggest broadcaster. Well done, in this economy. They are still fighting their windmills that aren´t turning.
This is the biggest farce I have seen in a long time! There is no way in the world that this article is true. Rush is the King and will always remain so until he decides he does not want to do it anymore. Where is Sandra Fluke on the Gosnell case you liberal fools?
Insider told me that Clear Channel was going to yank Rush off those Cumulus Stations in the next year anyway and move them to CC stations (which they can do by contract) - and that this was just Cumulus striking first to save face.
what is funny is that Rush will gain more listeners than the daily will in subscribers. in fact the unfortunate owners of this rag are losing subscribers at an alarming rate. if they want to know why they need look no farther than mr bunch as to reason...
I read the link on Drudge. The article linked to actually has some statements by Rush. These libs never learn do they? Maybe they should talk to Dingy Harry about what happened to him when he tried to tangle with Rush.
As to Sandra Fluke, the basic definition of slut is asking someone to pay for their sex, exactly what Ms. Fluke was doing when she appeared before Congress last year.
Rush is the One who truly has not lost his faith in America. He is willing to stand up for what he believes and it is always positively directed to ensure our country´s independence and ever faithful to the values of our Constitution as well as honoring the men/women who died to set US free.
God bless Rush Limbaugh for standing firm in the "firing line" as the Dems/Progressives/MSM continue to fire whatever they can at him, just hoping something will define him according to their agenda.
America is waking up and thanks to Rush Limbaugh. We are a better country when we speak out and face each situation with honesty/truth and reality.
God bless you Rush for caring for US! Would that our current president felt the same way.
We gave the Progressives power and they denied ours!
Att Philadelphia Daily News. Shouldn´t you be spending more time covering the Gosnell murder trial? At least you would stand a fighting chance covering a real story instead of picking on Rush.
Rush is a master of Jiu-Jitsu and will turn you into mush. Do I have to remind you the letter submitted by Harry Reid and signed by forty senators demanding Rush be dropped by his radio stations? Rush got hold of the original letter and auctioned it off for $250,000 which he donated to The Wounded Warrior Foundation.

After the Fluke fluke there were lots of advertisers bragging they don´t advertise on Rush. So I dropped them. Like a rock. Rush could go either satellite radio or internet radio and still have a larger audience than Katie Couric in her prime.
The Philadelphia Daily News, with a circulation of less than 98,000 and falling, fresh out of a 2010 bankruptcy, proclaims that Rush Limbaugh’s program, with an audience of some 20 million, is imploding. Boy, maybe that scoop will buoy the paper’s fortunes.
I agree with Reply#3. Rush made a serious tactical error in handling the Sandra Fluke matter. If he would have discredited her in his usually eloquent and logical manner, instead of making it a personal attack, she would not have become the poster child for the Democrat´s "war on women", which the low information crowd bought hook, line and sinker.
This is purely wishful thinking, and the guy is so stupid that he doesn´t know that Rush did issue a sincere and true apology, on air, to the woman, for his remark. Yeah, that really made it all better in the liberal world - liberals are alway so willing to give a conservative a break.
Rush is going to do fine. I think our local station is a Cumulus station.... I would imagine this could affect the entire programming lineup....
In my ´university community´ surrounded by Republicans, Rush´s show just moved to the FM broadcast of the Big radio org. from a weak AM one. Some implosion! Lineup from 9 am to 8 or 9 pm: Beck, Rush, Hannity, Mark Levin. In PA.
Does anyone else remember sometime just before the election Sandra Fluke having some kind of counter-Romney event in Colorado the public was invited to? I seem to recall about a dozen people including the press and her handlers attending. Wow! She is quite the draw!
The numbers were probably inflated by a few losers hoping to get "lucky".
Wouldn´t it be nice if the non media would spend as much time on our country imploding as they they do on their dream that Rush will implode. Who are the advertisers who pulled their ads???? I will boycott them.
Cumulus Media´s world is imploding, not Rush Limbaugh´s.
Cumulus Media is one of many radio station chains that airs the Rush Limbaugh show. Rush Limbaugh is threatening to dump Cumulus Media, not the other way around.
If Rush dumps Cumulus, 40 Cumulus-owned radio stations will lose the rights to the most popular talk radio program in the country.
There will be a bidding war in every market where Cumulus radio stations now air the Rush Limbaugh show. In each of those markets, the station that gets the show will see its ratings substantially increase, while the Cumulus station´s ratings will plummet.
No, Cumulus Media´s world is imploding. It´s been bandied about that Rush Limbaugh is unhappy with this bozo Dickey blaming Rush for their decline in revenue, and Rush is thinking of not renewing with them.
There has been talk in the radio industry for a while that Rush would be moving his show elsewhere, away from Cumulus.
I was doing a search for this guy´s email address and saw this instead under one of the search options -
Philadelphia Daily News Circulation: 97,694 (9% decrease since 2007) Parent Company: Philadelphia Media Holdings LLC Parent Co.´s Revenue in 2008: N/A ...
97,694. That many people probably turn off the radio in ONE of Limbaugh´s markets when they hear Barry the Fraud´s voice on the top of the hour news. I know I do and have to remember to turn the radio back on.
This would be a zero research article with a conclusion that doesn´t fit the facts, only Will Bunch´s fantasy. Not a single thing in the article he quotes would lead you to his conclusion. Thank God I don´t have to read this newspaper every day either, the commenters are as stupid as the author.
#18 - You greatly underestimated the amount Rush raised from the moronic letter written by Harry Reid: It was $2.1 million, and he then he matched it. So, the total was $4.2 million for the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.
And yes, this is the "drive bys" putting their fantasies in print.
President Barack Obama is returning to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Obama will appear on the Aug. 6 broadcast of NBC´s late-night talker, which would mark his sixth time and the fourth appearance since becoming president. According to NBC, Obama plans to discuss jobs initiatives and the economy during his visit. Previous Tonight Show appearances were Dec. 1, 2006; Oct. 17, 2007; March 19, 2009 — marking the first time a current president appeared on a late-night talker; Oct. 25, 2011; and Oct. 24, 2012. Obama has made the late-night rounds over the years,
An American international politics publication has reported that the US Air Force plans to dispatch fighter jets and tanker aircraft to northern Australia in the next year. Foreign Policy magazine said it was part of a US strategy to dramatically expand its air defence presence across the Pacific and South-East Asia. (Snip) In a breakfast media briefing, he is reported saying the US would send "fighters, tankers and, at some point in the future, maybe bombers on a rotational basis" to Darwin. General Carlisle is reported to have said the aircraft would initially go to the RAAF base in Darwin
Most fishermen are guilty of the odd photobrag, but none can match this bloke´s cockiness. The Victorian fisherman celebrated catching a huge shark by climbing inside the gutted fish, poking his arm through its gills and posing for a joke shot with his knife buried between its eyes. In a world where every angler is pictured next to his prize catch with a thumbs up, it´s becoming increasingly difficult for intrepid fishermen to stand out. But this guy - let´s call him the Shark Slayer - certainly managed it. ´Arch´, who works at the Metung Hotel in Gippsland, was present when the photo was taken.
Washington - U.S. spy agencies plan to release newly declassified documents as early as this week about the National Security Agency surveillance programs revealed by former contractor Edward Snowden, and also material related to a secret intelligence court, a U.S. intelligence official said on Tuesday. (Snip) The documents would also include information about the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the official said. That court operates in secrecy in making decisions on government surveillance requests. The Washington Post reported late Tuesday that senior U.S. officials said one of the orders
Washington - President Barack Obama has asked two senior Republican senators to travel to Egypt to meet with its military leaders and the opposition, as Cairo´s allies struggle with how to address the turmoil convulsing the country. (Snip) U.S. officials have been grappling with how to respond to the situation in Egypt since its elected Islamist president, Mohamed Mursi, was ousted by the military on July 3. In particular, they have struggled with how to handle the $1.55 billion in mostly military aid Washington sends to Cairo each year. Egypt has long been an important U.S. ally
In a significant victory for law enforcement, a federal appeals court on Tuesday said that government authorities could extract historical location data directly from telecommunications carriers without a search warrant. The closely watched case, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, is the first ruling that squarely addresses the constitutionality of warrantless searches of historical location data stored by cellphone service providers. Ruling 2 to 1, the court said a warrantless search was “not per se unconstitutional” because location data was “clearly a business record”
Washington - Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday that Israeli and Palestinian negotiators would convene again in the Middle East within two weeks and that their goal would be to work out a comprehensive peace agreement within nine months that would lead to an independent Palestinian state. (Snip) “Our objective will be to achieve a final status agreement over the course of the next nine months,” Mr. Kerry said. “We all understand the goal that we’re working towards: two states living side by side in peace and security.” As they resume peace talks that have been moribund since 2010,
Three former high-ranking Penn State officials, including the university’s former president, Graham B. Spanier, were ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges that they were part of a cover-up related to the child sexual abuse scandal involving the former football coach Jerry Sandusky. After a two-day preliminary hearing this week, Harrisburg District Judge William Werner decided there was enough evidence against Spanier, the retired university vice president Gary Schultz and the former athletic director Tim Curley to proceed with a trial, which could start later this year.
Anti-Christian extremist groups like the ACLU, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and People for the American Way hate God. They also hate America. True America. These "progressive" outfits - along with like-minded politicos, judges, Hollywood elitists and left-wing media-types - hate that this great nation was expressly founded upon the bedrock precepts of the Judeo-Christian tradition. And so, in response, they lash out. They endeavor first to raze our God-blessed America, and then raise, from the rubble, a godless America fashioned in their own secular-socialist self-image.
Last week, Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R.) sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.), “informing Senator Reid that we will not vote for a continuing resolution that funds Obamacare,” risking a government shutdown if Lee’s objectives are not achieved. While eleven other Senate Republicans have signed on to Lee’s letter, other Republicans are denouncing the move in surprisingly direct language. “It’s not an achievable strategy…and it’s dishonest,” said Sen. Tom Coburn (R., Okla.). “It’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard of,” added Sen. Richard Burr (R., N.C.).
Republican U.S. senators pushed for more transparency on aid to Egypt, if not an outright end to the $1.3 billion per year in military assistance, as U.S. officials struggled on Monday with how to respond to the crisis in Cairo. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has introduced an amendment to a Senate transportation funding bill that would end military aid to Egypt under a U.S. law banning aid to countries that have experienced military coups, and redirect the money to domestic infrastructure projects. Senate aides said on Monday that the bill and Paul's
Sacramento - Gloria Steinem, Jesse Jackson, Bonnie Raitt and Jay Leno have joined prison hunger strikers in calling for an end to California´s use of solitary confinement to control prison gang violence. The civil rights crusaders, singer and late-night comedian are among those who signed a letter sent Monday to Gov. Jerry Brown. The letter calls isolation units "extensions of the same inhumanity practiced at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay." The letter to Brown, to be followed by a demonstration Tuesday at the Capitol, was arranged by the National Religion Campaign Against Torture and local
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Colin Powell has admitted to exchanging ´very personal´ emails with a Romanian diplomat but denies having an affair with the much younger woman after a hacker threatened to release their intimate messages. The 76-year-old retired general told the Smoking Gun that he met Corina Cretu, 45, roughly 10 years ago when she was working as an assistant to the president of Romania. She is now a member of the European Parliament. ´After I left the Department of State in January 2005 we stayed in touch via email,´ he told TSG.
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But
