Federal panel says everyone
15 to 65 should have HIV test

Los Angeles Times, by Monte Morin

Original Article

Citing recent evidence that HIV infections are best managed when treated early, an influential panel of medical experts has finalized its recommendation that all people ages 15 to 65 be screened for the virus that causes AIDS. The recommendation from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force seeks to address one of the key challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS: The window during which patients respond best to treatment is also the time when symptoms of the disease are least noticeable. "HIV is a critical public health problem, and there are still 50,000 new infections per year,"

Comments:
This makes even less sense than giving everyone (male and female) a pregnancy test.

Obamacare will make it mandatory that everyone be tested. That way, they can better manage the crisis, secure funding, etc, etc, and so forth, damn your privacy rights.

According to the fact sheet dated December 2012 at the CDC website: (http://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/newsroom/docs/2012/hiv-infections-2007-2010.pdf)

According to the new analysis, there were 53,200 infections in 2007; 47,500 in 2008; 45,000 in 2009; and 47,500 in 2010. Certain groups, including African Americans, Latinos, and gay and bisexual men of all races/ethnicities, continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV.

If you look at the numbers, you´d think that the Fed "panel" would target those groups with the greatest likelihood of having (and transmitting) HIV.

I have no idea how many times my monogamous husband has had the test- he has been Active Duty Air Force for over 26 years and I know they occasionally test. I know I was tested when I had my last child in CA- it was a regulation there. We are both negative and have both been in just one relationship- our marriage. I think it is a total waste of money to test people like me over and over again. As it is, I have to have monthly blood tests (not HIV) because I am on strong medications that may affect some parts of my system like kidneys, liver or blood. So far, the medications haven´t and I have been on them for siz years. But those tests I have to have, this one is unnecessary.

Screen for homosexual contact first. You know, like the Red Cross does for blood drawings. If you´re male: "Have you ever had sex -- even once -- with another male?"

If you´re not a pervert, chances are great that you don´t need the test. But perversion is celebrated...witness the outpouring of nearly congratulatory reporting regarding the basketball player who just declared he was gay...(itself a perversion of a perfectly respectable, happy word). Before this announcement, I had never even heard of this guy, whose name I have already forgotten...

This is just silly. Among low/no risk individuals what is the point. In fact, it would be counter-profuctive. Tests strive for a high rate of sensitivity (it catches all who are infected) and specificity (it catches ONLY those who are infected). Last I heard, the basic test is about 99 percent sensitive and 99 percent specific. That means in testing everyone there will be a huge number of false positives, who will then need to take the far more expensive diagnostic test. For low/no risk groups, it would be a huge waste of money.

Follow the money trail, indeed. This is all about money. The drugs firms that market any such test would be sure to give big to the Democratic Party.

There is also evidence - as espoused by renowned scientist Peter Duesberg - that HIV does not cause AIDS. Peter was shouted down when he proposed his views some years back, both by gay activists and the scientists who were in the AIDS business. It´s little wonder. Without HIV as the cause, the gay community can´t play the victim card. A virus makes you a victim, don´t forget.

The challenging view is that AIDS does exist but it is due to behavioral choices such as drug use and normal STD´s like syphilis etc, which are known to damage the immune system. In the highly promiscuous and drug-indulgent atmosphere of the male-male sexual scene, the conditions were conducive to the developmnt of such an immune disorder.

With the HIV-causes-AIDS orthodoxy, what we are looking at is quite possibly the biggest scam ever perpetrated. It would dwarf the global warming scam.

Thirty years ago, it was common sense that everyone should have the test, but it was a violation of civil rights to insist on it, so eventually all the doctors said it was a dumb idea.

Today suddenly that´s all backwards. I guess what´s changed, is now they want to sell you some medicine.

NEW YORK — They were designed for the 1964 World´s Fair as sleek, space-age visions of the future: three towers topped by flying-saucer-like platforms, and a pavilion of pillars with a suspended, shimmering roof that was billed as the "Tent of Tomorrow." Washington - The latest delay to a final decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline will reinforce a White House strategy to energize President Barack Obama´s liberal-leaning base before fall elections in which Democrats risk losing control of the U.S. Senate. Environmentalists, worried about the project´s effect on climate change, have put enormous pressure on the president to reject the pipeline from Canada´s oil sands, staging demonstrations outside the White House and protests in states where he travels. A decision to approve it now could have prompted that vocal group, which was instrumental in electing Obama in 2008 and 2012,

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist

If you can get a New Jersey vanity license plate that reads “BAPTIST,” why not one that reads “8THEIST”? That’s the question Shannon Morgan, a self-describe atheist, is asking in a lawsuit after the New Jersey department of motor vehicles denied her vanity plate application. Her main complaint is a bureaucracy deeming that “8THEIST” has connotations that offend “good taste and decency,” the bar which the state uses to judge the suitability of personalized plate messages. She also wants the state to adopt a more “viewpoint-neutral” vanity plate approval policy, since when she typed “BAPTIST” into the DMV application it

As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey.
