IRS Health Insurance Penalty
Will Not Motivate Consumers
To Buy Insurance

The Herald (Rocky Hill, SC), by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 4/18/2013 1:00:48 PM

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- A new HealthPocket consumer survey found that most people don´t feel a penalty for remaining uninsured will motivate them to buy insurance starting in October. When survey takers were asked, "Will the $95 IRS penalty motivate you to shop this October for an Obamacare health plan?" nearly two-thirds of consumers surveyed answered "No." Only 8 percent of respondents answered "Yes" and nearly 30 percent were unsure. Beginning in 2014, consumers will be required to buy health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. An IRS tax penalty will be levied on consumers who fail to purchase health insurance

Comments:
America is tougher than you and your leftist ideologue comrades are Mr, 0bama. Take your penalty (tax actually) and stick it.

The total lunacy of government part 8,368,254,142. The total idiots in government couldn´t figure out this simple equation -- The choice for a young person -- 1. spending hundreds of dollars a month for a product they don´t really need and they can´t really afford, vs. 2. Having to pay a monthly penalty amounting to $7.92.

I´m with #2 on this subject. We need about 50 million people in a noble act of civil disobedience to refuse to pay the penalty, rendering the supreme court decision moot by nullification. In fact, I am seriously thinking about dropping my coverage so I can be one of them.

I´m with #´s 1-4 above. This may be a superb chance for a national act of civil disobedience...refusal to pay arbitrary and unfair taxes. Sounds a little bit like those ´Indians´ throwing British tea overboard in Boston harbor, doesn´t it.

And #1, you´re exactly right; maybe Chief Justice John "Nobody Scares ME!" Roberts can explain what the heck an "IRS tax penalty" is. Sounds like a "Push Me - Pull You" to me. [Do it be a tax or a penalty, your honor?]

Wait until that $695 per person penalty kicks in. I predict there will be many not even bothering to file their 1040s rather than have to pay the penalty.

It´s entirely possible they are counting on refusal to pay the penalty, (which they also failed to provide a means to collect in the event of refusal!)just so they can insert much harsher penalties and new tighter means of control later as a result. I do not have insurance. Always did before but my husband is retired on medicare, I am self imployed making less than $200 a week. There is NO WAY I can afford an individual policy. I want insurance - simply can´t afford it. By the grace of God - I am relatively healthy - for now. My husband is not. We spend almost all our available funds on his health care.

Medicare Part D "no longer" covers anything with Codeine according to the Parmacy. I´ve used this same medication three different times over the past 10 years and it was ALWAYS covered. Most government scandals involve the manipulation of the system in obscure ways by people no one has ever heard of. That is why George Washington Bridgegate is nearly a perfect scandal — because it is comprehensible and (as they say in Hollywood) “relatable” to everyone who has ever been in a car. Here´s a startling statistic: more than 8,000 Iraqis were killed in violent attacks in 2013. That makes it the second most violent country in the world, after its neighbor Syria. As violence has spread and militants have gained ground in several Middle Eastern countries, people have been wondering how much this has to do with the Obama administration and its lack of an active intervention in the region. The Wall Street Journal and a Commentary magazine opinion piece have both argued this past week that the Obama administration´s decision to withdraw troops from Iraq is directly responsible for the renewed
