Phillies pitcher Jonathan Papelbon:
Obama out for guns

POLITICO, by PATRICK GAVIN

Original Article

Posted By:STLstudent, 4/18/2013 11:33:08 AM

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jonathan Papelbon says that the president is out to take your guns. The pitcher, who came to prominence during his run with the Boston Red Sox (including as the team’s closer during their victorious 2007 World Series run), spoke with CSN Philadelphia and said, “Today’s day and age has gotten so crazy. Shoot man, Obama wants to take our guns from us and everything. You got all this stuff going on; it’s just a little bit insane for me, man. I’m not sure how to take it.”

Comments:
You know this perspective being expressed by a sports celebrity has to bug Lord Obama who adores the worship of celebrities. Yet, this athlete is merely stating the obvious -- Obama and the Left want to disarm Americans. It´s difficult to be a Nazi-style leader if the people have firearms!

Isn´t just Obama Jonathan, the political leadership of Connecticut, New York, Maryland, California, Colorado, and Illinois are trying real hard too. Add to that our US Supreme Court is not being helpful in New York and We the People need to pay close attention....

I rooted like crazy for Papelbon when he was Boston´s closer, but have been ambivalent about him since he moved to the Phillies. Back to unabashed admiration for the guy after this. Way to speak out, Jonathan.

Just give him a job writing for the Huff Post. That is where celebrities go to be put on a pedastal. Not that I disagree, but I don´t need to hear from a celebrity on real issue because he can throw a ball 95mph, or can sing/dance/act really well.

Not saying he is wrong, but people are wrong to act like he is more important because he is rich and famous.

While he may not be a "Gun" expert, there is a certain similarity in pitching and shooting.

Aim, acceleration, targeting, grouping, poise under pressure, breath control.

Shooting is just a high tech way of throwing stuff.

Watch Barky try to impersonate an athlete and you can see that he simply has not put in the thousands of hours required to learn the magic of the 100 mph fastball or the thrill that comes when swinging a 3 wood starts to feel like cracking a whip and starts to sound like it too.

I suspect the links are more of a refuge than a battlefield for our whiner-in-chief.

A snowstorm in the South is about as rare as a glass of unsweetened tea at a church supper. Folks around Birmingham, Ala. weren’t all that worried though. The storm was only supposed to dust the city – not even enough powder for a Southern snowman. But a good number of those stranded motorists were able to find shelter in the storm thanks to the kindness and generosity of Chick-fil-A restaurant employees and the restaurant´s owner, Mark Meadows.

Record High in U.S. Say
Big Government Greatest Threat
Gallup Politics, by Jeffrey M. Jones    Original Article

Seventy-two percent of Americans say big government is a greater threat to the U.S. in the future than is big business or big labor, a record high in the nearly 50-year history of this question. The prior high for big government was 65% in 1999 and 2000. Big government has always topped big business and big labor, including in the initial asking in 1965, but just 35% named it at that time. The latest update comes from a Dec. 5-8 poll. Gallup has documented a steady increase in concern about big government since 2009, rising from 55% in March 2009 to 64% in November 2011 and 72% today.

Barack Obama´s foreign policy dream -- cordial relations with a Middle East tranquilized by "smart diplomacy" -- is in a death grapple with reality. His rhetorical writhings illustrate the perils of loquacity. He has a glutton´s rather than a gourmet´s appetite for his own rhetorical cuisine, and has talked America to the precipice of a fourth military intervention in the crescent that extends from Libya to Afghanistan. Characterizing the 2011 Libyan project with weirdly passive syntax ("It is our military that is being volunteered by others to carry out missions"),

Like the millions of other ordinary Swedes whom he now sees himself as one of, Mohammed Abbas fears his dream society is now under threat. When he first arrived in Stockholm as refugee from Iran in 1994, the vast Husby council estate where he settled was a mixture of locals and foreigners, a melting pot for what was supposed to be a harmonious, multi-racial paradise. Two decades on, though, "white flight" has left only one in five of Husby´s flats occupied by ethnic Swedes, ...

Pope Francis urges global leaders
to end ´tyranny´ of money
The Telegraph [UK], by Nick Squires    Original Article

Pope Francis has attacked the “dictatorship” of the global financial system and warned that the “cult of money” was making life a misery for millions. He said free-market capitalism had created a “tyranny” and that human beings were being judged purely by their ability to consume goods. Money should be made to “serve” people, not to “rule” them, he said, calling for a more ethical financial system and curbs on financial speculation. Countries should impose more control over their economies and not allow “absolute autonomy”, in order to provide “for the common good”.

The yardstick used in the immigration bill to determine border control may produce too rosy a picture of how well the Border Patrol is doing in cracking down on illegal crossings, according to an independent study released Monday that threatens to upend the immigration debate. In their 76-page report, three researchers at the Council on Foreign Relations also said the drop in illegal immigration is only partly a result of tougher border security and about two-thirds because of economic changes in Mexico and the U.S. that have made it less attractive for Mexicans to migrate north.

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
