New evidence photographs released on Wednesday from the Boston Marathon bombing reveal in grisly detail the bloody aftermath of the massive blasts which left three dead and nearly 200 injured. In one, close-up image a nail appears to be shown in congealed blood next to part of a zipper from a bag and two ball bearings. In other images of the remains of an explosive device, twisted pieces of metal and dented batteries are shown. The photos released today were taken by the Joint Terrorism Task Force scouring the vast scene in downtown Boston and issued by a U.S. government

Grisly? Yesterday, a client of mine showed me some unvarnished photographs from an acquaintance of his in Boston affiliated with the papers. These photos were enough to make one hurl one´s lunch...Leg over here...foot over there...bone protuding from the remains of a leg with its owner lying there in shock...blood everywhere. Whoever did this should be lined up against a wall without a blindfold, and if that happens to include some of our own ´citizens´, so be it.

RUSH: Here´s the story. It´s from the Denver Post: "As if getting married wasn´t complicated enough, a proposed ballot initiative would require mandatory pre-wedding education before couples could say ´I do.´ Lumped onto the hours spent debating centerpieces, picking a photographer, finding the perfect dress and corralling future in-laws, the proposed Colorado Marriage Education Act calls for 10 hours of pre-wedding marriage education. If either the bride- or groom-to-be is marrying for the second time, the requirement kicks up to a minimum of 20 hours," of pre-wedding, marriage school. RUSH: There´s a big drought out in California. Fifteen years ago it was the drought of the century. I remember I´d go to California and in the hotel rooms there would be signs: "Please use the towels more than once, if you can. Please use half the amount of water you would drinking from the faucet. Please try to shorten the length of your shower by 50%." There were all these signs all over the hotels. And then it stopped. I figured, well, the drought is over. But apparently not. Calamity: Despite repeated reassurances that ObamaCare website glitches were fixed, officials are frantically trying to repair massive problems that, by their own admission, could crush ObamaCare and the insurance industry. Throughout December, administration officials said that they´d all but fixed the start-up problems with the ObamaCare exchange site, pointing to the sharp increase in enrollment that month as evidence. And as to those "back end" problems that sent erroneous information to insurers, they claimed to have cut the error rate to less than 1% by early December. But hidden from view, administration officials were in a state of panic. A procurement document posted

America´s most worrisome problem may not be the failed takeover of our healthcare system. It may not be our languishing economy or even the massive federal debt hanging over future generations. As dangerous as these problems are, perhaps more perilous is just how far our nation has fallen in the eyes of our allies and the lack of caution our feckless foreign policy inspires in our adversaries. Our country too often looks weak. Our foreign policy too often seems rudderless and unreliable. Washington is abuzz over the new memoir by Robert Gates, the former defense secretary, with its recounting of the

ObamaCare´s defenders say its troubles are over as more people sign up and, by the way, stop griping because the law is here to stay. Much evidence says otherwise, to the extent that the embroidered information the White House is willing to release counts as evidence. Lifting the veil of secrecy last week, the feds revealed that 2.2 million people nationwide had selected a plan through December. That is a major improvement, especially for the 36 federally run exchanges, which gathered 1.19 million total enrollees. Traffic increased sevenfold over October and November. Immigration: President Obama expects House Republicans to jump-start his presidency by embracing amnesty for illegal aliens. But if it does, the GOP could wreck its chances to take back the Senate. Republicans should own the issue of immigration. After all, the last time — 1986 — the nation took the "comprehensive" approach that Democrats now propose, nothing ended up being fixed in exchange for the amnesty for millions of illegals. And today, insisting on securing the border before doing anything else is no-lose politically. Yet the House GOP is poised to use a piecemeal strategy as cover to enact, more or less,

Earlier this month, the Guttmacher Institute released their 2013 state-policy review. The report indicates that pro-lifers continue to make very good legislative progress at the state level. In 2013, 70 state-level pro-life measures were enacted — making 2013 the second most productive year on record. The report specifically cites Texas, North Dakota, North Carolina, and Arkansas as being especially active in passing pro-life laws. Overall, according to Guttmacher, there have been more pro-life laws passed between 2011 and 2013 than in the entire previous decade. Guttmacher places each state into one of three categories based on the number of pro-life laws

Walter Timpone, a Christie-linked attorney whom Kelly retained after her public firing, received the subpoena served on her Friday by a New Jersey Assembly special investigative committee. Former Virginia Gov. Robert F. The two were charged in connection with their relationship with dietary supplement executive Jonnie R. Williams Sr. Authorities alleged McDonnell and his wife received gifts from Williams again and again, lodging near constant requests for money, clothes, trips, golf accessories and private plane rides. In exchange, they alleged the McDonnells worked in concert to lend the prestige of the governorship to Williams’s struggling company, a

Are you dazed and confused by Barack Obama, the nominal Democrat, whose conduct as president since 2009 has seen him sink from nearly 70 percent to 40 percent or less in the national polling, from which he has seemed to learn nothing, but still marches on? The bare-bones Wendy Davis story — the one without embellishment — is sufficiently inspiring as a matrix for defying expectations. The daughter of a teenage mother and a teenage mother herself, Davis managed to beat the odds by getting a college education and Ivy League law degree, then launching a political career that’s brought her national adulation. But since Davis’ Democratic gubernatorial ambitions caught fire last year, “facts have been blurred” in the retelling of her life’s story, as reported Sunday by this newspaper’s senior political writer, Wayne Slater.

Time Magazine’s current cover depicts a tiny man hanging onto the heel of a shoe that’s emerging from a pant-suit wearing leg. “Can Anyone Stop Hillary?” reads the accompanying text. Maybe, if the cover also showed her tripping over the Senate Intelligence Committee’s just-released report on the attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, while she was secretary of state. If New Jersey Governor Chris Christie must answer for four days of traffic jams on roads leading to the George Washington Bridge, surely Clinton has the same obligation to address a deadly assault that the bipartisan committee found “preventable.”
