Potential Fallout Over
Travis County DA´s
DUI Arrest

Texas Monthly, by Paul Burka

Original Article

Posted By:john56, 4/17/2013 8:58:21 PM

The DUI arrest of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg could have far-ranging consequences. The DA´s office is home to the Public Integrity Unit, which has jurisdiction over crimes committed by public officials. Republicans have long hungered to get their mittens on the office, which has a history of prosecuting high-profile Republicans, including Tom DeLay and Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Comments:
Seems the RAT sheriff has buried the jailhouse video for the RAT DA who took over the job of the Travis Co. DA, who evidentally has the job of witch hunts against any statewide Republican who dares set foot in Travis County. I heard some RAT sychophant on an Austin talk show today saying it was okay for the DA in Austin to drive drunk as long as she could convict Rick Perry or any of a host of Republicans.

It´s a shame when a public office that is supposed to be a blind organ of law and justice, but has become a tool for parties to carry out vendettas against there political rivals. What they did to Delay was Criminal.

A federal judge has sentenced ex-Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos to 13 years in federal prison. Villalobos choked on sobs as he stood before the court asking for leniency before U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen. The former district attorney refused to address the charges because he stated he will seek an appeal. But Villalobos said a prison sentence would deeply hurt his family. The former district attorney said his wife has already filing for divorce and that his 12-year-old daughter is an honor student and plays the piano but is battling depression.

Hillary Clinton hasn´t gotten behind the wheel in a long, long time. The former first lady and potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, who has had drivers for much of her three decades in public life, said Monday that she hasn´t driven a car since 1996. Clinton made the confession at the National Automobile Dealers Association meeting in New Orleans. “The last time I actually drove a car myself was 1996,” the 66-year-old Clinton told the audience. “And I remember it very well, and so does the Secret Service, which is why I haven’t driven since then.”

AUSTIN — It´s fair to examine the details of Sen. Wendy Davis´ life story, but some of her fiercest opponents are providing fodder to those who see a sexist edge to the scrutiny. “So Abortion Barbie had a Sugar Daddy Ken,” tweeted conservative blogger Erick Erickson about her second marriage to a former Fort Worth City Council member, whose partnership in her endeavors eased her financial path before they divorced.

The Clintons are known for holding grudges against their political enemies. But according to a new book, their aides went so far as to build a formal spreadsheet rating their friends and foes. The so-called "hit list" reportedly was entered into a Microsoft Excel document at the end of Hillary Clinton´s unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid. In one draft, Democrats in Congress were even given a rating, from 1 to 7, with 7 being the worst.

As he joined Catholic clergy from both sides of the border calling for a change in U.S. immigration laws, San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller recalled meeting a child whose recently deported parents were killed in Mexico. In September, Catholic border bishops shared a meal with 50 detained children in El Paso, García-Siller said. They offered harrowing stories about their paths to get into the U.S. and their detentions at the hands of U.S. authorities.

Still reluctant to blame him for the harm resulting from his administration’s policies, Tip expressed it this way: “I don’t think he believes his program is hurting anyone because he doesn’t know it. He doesn’t realize the severity of his cuts. If he knew, they wouldn’t go that far.” As for Reagan, he had his own sense of his opponent, and it was one tempered with affection. It´s no surprise that Barack Obama´s authoritarian streak is revealing itself at last. It was always there; clearly apparent in his rhetoric (e.g., his envy of Chinese president Xi Jin-ping´s powers), his abuse of executive orders, his threats against Congress, his sultan with fly-whisk attitudes toward his opposition, and even his vacations, which reek more of third-world trash gamboling on the Riviera than any American leader (George W. Bush settled his mind by clearing brush in Texas, Reagan at his ranch in Santa Barbara. Obama unfortunately finds the brush already cleared in Martha´s Vineyard and Hawaii.)

Every year, prior to Valentine’s Day, the Vermont Teddy Bear Co. runs ads advising guys that the most romantic thing in the world – the best gift a love-struck guy can give his girl – is a teddy bear. This year’s ad features “Big Hunka Love Bear.” Big Hunka is 4½ feet tall, and the company says he’s “stuffed with more than enough love to last a lifetime.” Hey, giving your girl a cute little teddy bear for Valentine’s Day could be a sweet thing to do. Michelle Obama chose Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera for the gown she wore Tuesday to the state dinner honoring French President Francois Hollande. The formal, ornate style of the sumptuous gown by Ms Herrera reflected French aesthetics, from the intricate beaded black bodice, to the train and full skirt in a color called liberty blue. ´From the White House to Versailles it´s not that far,´ said Susan Swimmer, author of Michelle Obama: First Lady of Fashion and Style. ´It´s much more keeping in a French aesthetic than I´ve seen her wear before. President Obama has repeatedly suspended parts of the Affordable Care Act without the consent of Congress. The latest unilateral action happened Monday night, when the administration announced another delay of the employer mandate, the law´s provision that businesses with more than 50 employees must provide their employees with insurance starting in 2014 or pay large fines. In July, the president decreed the mandate wouldn´t be enforced at all in 2014, and last night administration officials declared that businesses with 50 to 99 employees wouldn´t be penalized in 2015. Republicans have denounced such actions as "lawless." But if what the president has

Michelle Obama´s lust for luxury has always been a bit of a problem for her husband and Democrats in general. Jetting off to five star resorts with a large entourage has too much dissonance with the rhetoric denouncing inequality currently in favor with the left. But the First Lady has now outdone herself, and because a picture is worth a thousand words, the damage may be a bit more serious than the occasional grumble over designer shoes and livin´ large. After all, millions of Americans are mired in unemployment, underemployment, and hopelessness. So in the face of all this, Michelle

Poverty and unemployment are at near-record levels, the economy is stalled, and a record 47 million Americans are on food stamps, yet aides for first lady Michelle Obama’s tweeted out a picture of her two dogs apparently dining at a table laid with crystal and china. “Bone appétit!,” the aides added to the insensitive tweet, using the language of France’s queen Marie Antoinette, who was executed by radicals in 1793. One dog appears to be wearing a jeweled necklace. The other is wearing a red ribbon. Obama’s media courtiers applauded the ostentatious display of canine luxury
