Supreme Court won’t hear

As the debate over gun rights heats up on Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court on Monday denied a petition to hear a challenge to a key provision of New York state´s restrictive gun laws. The high court without comment refused to take up a petition challenging a lower court´s upholding New York state´s requirement that citizens prove "proper cause" to carry a weapon for self-defense outside the home. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled in November in favor of the state."Our review of the history and tradition of firearm regulation does not ´clearly demonstrate´

Sorry, I forgot to put this in the comment section of my post.

Does a lawyer (or someone who knows), have a possible reason why the Supreme Court decided to not hear the NY gun law challenge. Thanks.

OP I´m not an attorney, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn last night. :>)
We are not getting our money´s worth out of the Supreme Court.
THIS is a direct attack to the 2nd amendment.
We cannot continue to allow the Supreme Court to ignore this matter. They are arrogant and lazy. 2 weeks vacation like the rest of us, take more cases.
Impeach them all.

At one point, before Maryland´s recent spate of gun laws, they had a law like this. Their Supreme Court found it unconstitutional. I imagine its the wording, or the Supremes are waiting for a better case. Or at least I hope so.

Is this the same US Supreme Court that has already ruled the 2nd Amendment in favor of individuals owning / carrying firearms?
If so, it seems that precedent is already set.

Our great experiment in freedom is in serious jeopardy. The government knows that tyranny cannot be effectively fought if citizens can be disarmed ... then patriots can be made to disappear just like was done in South America. Can´t happen here? Dream on.

The regents of the University of Michigan (UM) granted a hefty tuition discount to students who are in the country illegally. The vote to establish in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrants took place on Thursday, following months of discussion over the issue. The two Republican members of the Board of Regents voted against the measure. Under the old tuition policy, illegal immigrants living in the state of Michigan were automatically considered out-of-state students. Now all residents of Michigan, regardless of whether they lawfully entered the U.S., will enjoy in-state tuition rates. The difference between in-state

In January, Rush Limbaugh warned that there was “an effort under way to normalize pedophilia,” and was ridiculed by liberals (including CNN’s Soledad O’Brien) for saying so. But now liberals have joined a crusade that, if successful, would effectively legalize sex with 14-year-olds in Florida. The case involves Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt, an 18-year-old in Sebastian, Florida, who was arrested in February after admitting that she had a lesbian affair with a 14-year high-school freshman. WASHINGTON — While momentum has been building inside the House Republican conference for a special congressional committee to investigate last year’s terrorist attacks in Benghazi, the GOP leadership is making it clear they still have no enthusiasm for establishing such a committee. About two-thirds of House Republicans – 153 in total – have signed on to the resolution offered by Rep. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep. Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

The president gave two speeches this week, one in the Rose Garden to talk about Obamacare and one in Ann Arbor, Mich., to push minimum wage increases. What did we learn? We learned that President Obama is most comfortable in campaign mode, and his campaigning has gotten downright ugly. His Rose Garden speech was a typical self-congratulatory moment for supposedly hitting 7.1 million Obamacare sign-ups — although we know that once again, the White House is ignoring some inconvenient truths.
