Rubio Offers Full-Throated
Support for Immigration Bill

New York Times, by Brian Knowlton

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 4/14/2013 5:33:09 PM

The impending introduction of legislation to overhaul the country’s badly strained immigration system received an extraordinary endorsement on Sunday from Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, who, after holding back for weeks, appeared on no fewer than seven television talk shows to explain and defend a plan that he said would be “a net positive for the country, now and in the future.” It was a striking show of confidence from Mr. Rubio, one of eight members of a bipartisan Senate group that has been crafting a plan to provide a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants;

Comments:
This should be a cautionary tale for many of my fellow posters here at LCom. Just like Christie before him, he also blazes on the scene and then gets seduced by the dRATS controlled media to believe he´s presidential "material." Do you see a pattern here, yet? Rubio becomes one of the "gang-of eight" to do all this secret immigration negotiating when it is the responsibility of the 100 first in open session. Is this the 1,500 page bill that Senators are being "forced" to vote on with less than 24 hours after it is "submitted?"

Before Rubio even announced he was running, I was at a meeting where he spoke.
As much as I like him, I was leery because Jeb Bush was behind his candidacy.

When Schumer, Grahamnesty, and Rove praise him you know that assimilation of Rubio into the political Borg is nearly complete. Time is running out for Marco to extricate himself.

Rubio reveals that he is no Conservative, not even a middle-of-the-roader. Is he in the pay of foreign interests? Whatever, he is quite willing to do what he is smart enough to know will cause lasting harm to this country, perhaps destroy it in the long term.

I want to see the border provisions, but from what else I´ve seen it looks like a good plan. The visa entry-exit system get´s fixed, e-verify is mandatory, no obamacare, no green card for 10 years. A fine and a background check for temporary status. It looks like a big improvement from ´06´s Kennedy-McCain disaster and the ´07 Kyl-Kennedy bill.

They can say, no government goodies, BUT, that´s not to say once the illegals are given the green light, the next step will be, "well we need to let them have (fill in the blank), because (fill in the blank). The bottom line is, they are being given amnesty if this goes thru, & it is a kick in the teeth for every person that ever jump thru all the bureaucratic hoops that Washington can think up to let them come here legally. It is also an insult to us all, for politicians to get on TV & tell lies & expect us to believe it. The "mushroom" principle is alive & well in Washington DC.........!!! God help us all.

Some pretty silly posts here. Rubio isn´t a traitor and he is a conservative. Because you disagree on an issue doesn´t make him a traitor.

Some of us will have to get real. We aren´t deporting 12M illegals and in 20 years this problem will go away--because the kids of these illegals will be citizens by birth, so we are going to have to do something between now and then. If we get border enforcement first, as Rubio says, what´s wrong with this plan?

But none of us have seen any details, so the outrage is a bit premature.

Common sense will tell you that when they flood the legal US job market with tens of millions of cheap foreign workers by way of an amnesty for 11 to 20 million illegal aliens, plus allowing millions more foreigners into the country to work by way of so-called "guest worker" programs that it will be American workers who will be holding the crappy end of the stick as wages and benefits go down in US industries who could then hire those foreign workers who everybody knows are willing to work for much less then American workers can accept, and still maintain their customary US standard of living. Many American workers do not realize that those foreign workers will be legally able to compete with them for just about all of the scarce jobs out there today across the entire US economy. Imagine being an American black youth just out of high school looking for work once the job market is flooded with many millions of foreign workers?

In the years ahead if this goes through the Republicans are going to be headed into political oblivion when the Democrats pick up ten million of more new foreign born voters as a result of all this.

Why does the govt have to be so involved? Back in the 70s after the fall of Vietnam, thousands of refugees needed a place to go. Here in Minnesota, churches sponsored boatloads of Hmong refugees, helped them get started, and looked after them for a few years, guiding them to acclimate to their new home. I realize that illegal immigrants are not refugees, but perhaps the govt should seal the border, and the churches step in. A deadline can be established that all undocumented people who are not sponsored by a church by such-and-such a date, will have to start the process of returning to their native country. Those sponsored by a church, are to fulfill various requirements (fine, learn English, etc). This could be a win-win situation. The churches can show and share their faith (and values) and the illegals have a choice of two pathways to choose. I would hope that Rubio would explore all areas of solution and not depend on the govt to be the answer.

I won´t vote for Rubio for anything now. And let´s stop with this phony argument about deporting 12 million illegals. You cut off taxpayer benefits, cut off jobs, they will self deport. They were doing that before the traitor Rubio got together with the amnesty gang. Any bill that is 1500 pages long is a bad bill because you know no on will be reading it until it has passed and then everyone will find out just how bad it is.

I was for Rubio when he was way behind Crist in the polls. I voted for him.

If Schummer ses No Obstacles in the way means the security issue is not handled.
Rubio specically said on RUSH that he would not support a bill unless the borders were
secured first. He has f´d the conservatives.

On another note I don´t care about McCain´s war hero status. Others were prisoners also.

He is not a hero for flying poorly as was his track record and getting shot down.

He has a vile temper and a small man. If he is a hero for surviving a prison camp, he is a traitor for undercutting Bush in the middle of a WAR(Iraq).

If the Republicans do not have the basic enforcement elements of immigration reform in place and up and running before the millions of illegal aliens here now are granted any sort of legal status the enforcement elements will never happen.

Back after the big 1986 amnesty, as soon as the illegal aliens were granted a legal status, the Democrats and their political allies the liberal ethnic and immigrant rights groups, started fighting and sabotaging the enforcement elements that they agreed to in the basic reform legislation, tooth and nail, administratively through the bureaucracy, legislatively in Congress, and legally through the courts, until those enforcement elements were either watered down to ineffectiveness, or were essentially abandoned. No doubt the Democrats will do the same thing again as a good portion of their so-called Hispanic vote does not want any effective immigration laws enforced against their countrymen, friends, and relatives who will continue to sneak into the USA in the future.

The most important enforcement element is a mandatory enhanced e-verify employee electronic verification system underpinned by a modern high-tech social security card bearing a photo of the bearer, other biometric identifiers, with electronic verification capability. Without that up and running, new illegal aliens will continue to sneak into the country or overstay visas and border crossing card time limits, and will fraudulently use valid identification documents and social security cards that were issued to other people to get a job here. As long as that can happen there is no way to stop future mass uncontrolled illegal immigration.

The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. “I feel sorry for Obama,” I said. As my wife looked at me in disbelief, I quickly added a correction. “Well, almost.” Beset by failures at home and abroad, the president cuts a lonely and sad figure these days. His aura of grief reflects his profound loss. His worldview crashed headlong into reality, and reality won. Obamaism is dead, may it rest in peace. That’s sad for him, but hold the tears — his loss is mankind’s hope. If Obama wakes from his utopian visions and faces the

Secretary of State John Kerry called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday morning to protest insults the Israeli defense minister directed at the Obama administration this week, the State Department said. In a speech at Tel Aviv University on Monday, Moshe Ya’alon criticized President Obama for having a weak foreign policy, and said Israel could no longer rely on the United States to lead nuclear negotiations with Iran. “Secretary Kerry spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu this morning. And he protested to him his concerns about these comments,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday. The U.S., Psaki reaffirmed, maintains an “unshakable

Has President Obama´s impunity come to an end? After five years of his flouting the letter and spirit of the law in an increasingly brazen fashion, congressional Republicans have been starting to ramp up their rhetoric about Obama´s lawlessness, their most concerted effort on the issue to date. Several new reports from top Republicans underscore the breadth of Obama´s executive overreach. Viewed comprehensively, it involves laws ranging from healthcare to immigration to privacy to technology to social issues to national security matters and more. Scandals like Benghazi, Operation Fast and Furious, the IRS targeting of conservative groups, NSA spying, CIA

First Lady Michelle Obama will be accompanied by her children and her mother on her trip to China, which begins today. But she won´t be accompanied by the press. "Michelle Obama’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be nonpolitical, the White House says, a ´people-to-people exchange´ emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education. As if to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there," reports the New York Times. The White House is defending the first lady bringing her family along for the ride by saying

White House executive pastry chef Bill Yosses is resigning after First Lady Michelle Obama fundamentally changed his job duties to focus on healthier food. Yosses is leaving the White House in June to work on a new project focusing on “food literacy” and The New York Times says Michelle is “partly to blame.” The openly gay chef was hired by Laura Bush in 2007 to make his trademark cookie plates and sugar sculptures. Mrs. Obama took over in 2009 and ordered Yosses to make healthier plates in smaller portions. (Snip) “I don’t want to demonize cream, butter, sugar and eggs,”

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but

Government officials now admit the data system and transponder quit communicating after the pilots said things were OK. That means they didn’t lie. The official Malaysian account of the last contacts made to and received by Flight MH370 is unraveling. As it does, the sinister interpretations of what happened in the cockpit of the Boeing 777 become less persuasive. We return to the all-important timeline. Originally, the Malaysians said that the last words from the cockpit—from the copilot, “All right, good night”—were spoken to air traffic controllers as the airplane left Malaysian air space at 1:30am. This week, that timing was significantly changed

WASHINGTON—In what was described as a major ramping up of sanctions, Secretary of State John Kerry announced on Tuesday that the United States had frozen Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Netflix account, effective immediately. “Unless and until Mr. Putin calls off the annexation of Crimea, no more ‘House of Cards’ or ‘Orange Is the New Black’ for him,” Mr. Kerry said. “The United States will not stand by and reward the annexation of another sovereign nation with a policy of streaming as usual.” While all of the sanctions Mr. Kerry announced on Tuesday were Netflix-related, he warned Mr. Putin that

First lady Michelle Obama will not take questions from reporters or give interviews during her tour of China that begins today, and members of the press corps who usually follows the first family everywhere have been banned from the trip. The resulting picture is one of an expensive, taxpayer-funded vacation for Mrs. Obama, her two daughters, and her mother – and not the official good-will journey the White House has promised. White House press officials won´t comment to MailOnline about whether the ban on media interviews applies equally to American journalists and Chinese reporters. ´How does this comport with the

"So nothing better than to see an inspiring film, and I´m really looking forward to seeing the chronicled life of one of my heroes and one of the people who inspired me to get into the work I got into." Ellen DeGeneres was a completely slavish toady to President Obama as he appeared on her show to sell Obamacare -- not to young people, but to mothers. The president made his pitch to "especially all the moms out there who may have young people – 26, 27, do not have health insurance, but they think they’re invincible and nothing’s ever going to happen to ‘em – what we’ve said is you never know what life is going to throw at ya."
