Torn Tendon Ends Bryant’s Season
Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 4/13/2013 7:17:44 PM

Los Angeles - Kobe Bryant pushed his fraying body and his Lakers teammates relentlessly through the second half of a vital game Friday night until he felt a searing pain in his left heel. Bryant tore his Achilles’ tendon. His season is over. Although the Lakers held on to beat Golden State, Bryant said they would have to continue their playoff chase without him. “M.R.I., surgery and then recovery,” Bryant told reporters. Bryant scored 34 points while playing much of the second half in obvious pain with an injured left leg, eventually leaving with 3 minutes 6 seconds to play

Comments:
Back in 2003, this BLACK basketball player got a bye in a felony sexual assault charge in Colorado. I feel that he should have never been allowed to play after this, but ten years and millions upon millions of dollars later, it´s a torn Achilles’ tendon that brings him down. Life is truly not fair if you can shake your moneymaker.

OP Bryant´s no angel. But he didn´t get a bye, the accuser had no credibility. She told so many lies she decided it best not to testify in a criminal trial, perjury you know. Instead she extorted some cash in a civil proceeding.

This ends Kobe´s career. Even if he attempts to come back he´ll never be able to perform at the same level.

Hey now, old man Kobe was still having a tremendous season on top of a tremendous career, he was finally indulging in assists more than scoring - until about a week ago.

Kobe has always pushed the envelope and many talented players have fallen to injuries much more quickly than he did, from Grant Hill to Bill Walton.

I don´t doubt he can come back and play at a reasonable level - and get a lot more assists. If he wants. Will he?

As for the kerfuffle in Colorado a few years back, well, the facts were never entirely clear and I suppose all parties eventually settled their interests more or less amicably.

Istanbul - Turkish fighter jets shot down a Syrian warplane after it violated Turkey´s airspace Sunday, Turkey´s prime minister said, in a move likely to ramp up tensions between the two countries already deeply at odds over Syria´s civil war. A spokesman for Syria´s military confirmed the incident, saying the plane was downed in Syrian airspace while attacking rebels. The unnamed spokesman quoted on Syrian state TV called the act a "blatant aggression," and said the pilot safely ejected from the aircraft. Turkey, once an ally of Syria, has emerged over the past three years as one of the main backers of Syrian opposition fighters

Washington - American officials have long considered Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications giant, a security threat, blocking it from business deals in the United States for fear that the company would create “back doors” in its equipment that could allow the Chinese military or Beijing-backed hackers to steal corporate and government secrets. But even as the United States made a public case about the dangers of buying from Huawei, classified documents show that the National Security Agency was creating its own back doors — directly into Huawei’s networks. The agency pried its way into the servers in

After Politico’s Dylan Byers posted a play-by-play this week illustrating the cat-and-mouse games the White House plays with the press, frustrated reporters took to Twitter recounting their favorite response lines from administration officials with the hashtag: TweetYourAnonymousFlackQuotes. This friction is, of course, nothing new. Past White Houses and government agencies have certainly been evasive. But judging from the frequent complaints we hear, the lack of transparency is worse than ever. Our colleagues have found that a number of truly unhelpful responses have become the standard repertory at many

Tempe, Ariz. - Hillary Rodham Clinton says young people understand the significant threat of climate change and that she hopes there will be a mass movement that demands political change. The potential 2016 presidential candidate says at a Clinton Global Initiative University panel that young people are much more committed to doing something to address climate change. Clinton says it isn’t “just some ancillary issue” but will determine the quality of life for many people. The former secretary of state cited global warming as a major issue that students could face in the future.

On Thursday, the Washington Post published an article by Steven Mufson and Juliet Eilperin titled “The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers.” The article’s first paragraph included this claim: The biggest lease holder in the northern Alberta oil sands is a subsidiary of Koch Industries, the privately-owned cornerstone of the fortune of conservative Koch brothers Charles and David. The theme of the article was that the Keystone Pipeline is all about the Koch brothers; or, at least, that this is a plausible claim. The Post authors relied on a report by a far-left group called

Cincinnati - A federal appeals court has suspended gay marriages in Michigan, putting on hold a decision by a lower court judge who had struck down the state´s same-sex marriage ban. The Cincinnati court´s order Saturday brings a halt to same-sex weddings in Michigan, at least through Wednesday. Dozens of couples got hitched earlier Saturday in at least four Michigan counties. Federal Judge Bernard Friedman on Friday overturned Michigan´s constitutional ban, the latest in a series of decisions overturning similar laws across the country. Two Detroit-area nurses who´ve been partners for eight years claimed the ban violated their rights
