According to an ABC News report, senators from the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” pushing immigration reform are expected to drop their bill, estimated at around 1,500 pages, on Tuesday, mere hours before the only scheduled Senate hearing on the topic. “A bipartisan group of senators plans to introduce its long-awaited immigration bill on Tuesday, Senate sources confirmed to ABC News,” Jim Avila and Jordan Fabian wrote on Friday. “Four Democrats and four Republicans, known as the ´Gang of Eight,´ wrapped up months of hard-fought negotiations this week and will put forth a bill that includes a pathway
Lots and lots of time bombs, regulations, taxes, fees, giveaways, pork and power grabs can be buried in 1500 pages. Look at ObamaCare.....its the crap sandwich that keeps on giving. This will be no different.
And just wait until congress starts hanging ornaments off of this tree...
STILL waiting for the promised filibuster that was going to bring this crap to a screeching halt. Where is it? Where? The Republicans are busily proving themselves to be fully as much worthless traitors to the nation as are the Democrats. Or worse. NEVER again do I want to hear the site trolls tell us we must, once again, hold our noses and vote the"R" ticket. It´s a vile lie. This crap sandwich would never have gotten to this point if any of these creeps had any sense of honor whatever. Obviously they do not.
Gang of Eight is becoming popular. Pope Francis has just assembled an Advisory Council To Reform The Catholic Church With A Permanent Panel Of 8 Cardinals. He, Francis, is looking to make a humbler Church with their input. A humbler Church is not needed, A TRUTHFUL CHURCH IS.
Dittos all above. The only way to stop this "crap" is to declare it D.O.A. Marco´s political future is on the line, and what he says tomorrow morning will be determinate. If he has been "assimilated" into the political Borg, then his political prospects are "futile".
The filibuster was about GUN control, not immigration. I think Rubio is toast IF he lets immigration get pushed through with no hearings, and no amendments. We´ll see on Tuesday. Rubio your actions speak for you.
This is exactly the kind of crap you pull when you don´t want opposition. You write over a thousand page bill and give little time for the public to read it and you limit debate. Republicans need to shut it down!!!
Obama needed the Latino vote. He can´t get the tax increase needed to support all of the promises he made to get it. Let´s just move on to more important things like gun confiscation so the people can´t give him any trouble when the real problems begin.
Gang of eight, gang of dems for obamacare...same thing.. they never learn they should read. ...and they wonder why congress has a zero approval rating. Guess the rinos didn´t learn from the dems disaster in the obamacare bill. When the immigration and gun bills pass, and they will...it´s time for a third party.
Insist upon the Bill being Read in FULL. any who rise in support of the Bill should be asked in a "point Of order" if they have read it in it´s entirety...if the answer is NO then they can expect to see it on TV during their next campaign, and tied together with all of their friends similar responses on Youtube.
It´s the same old story, the Democrats look at the entire illegal alien population as prospective new Democrat voters and are willing to import mass poverty and all sorts of foreign criminals and impostors to get 11 to 20 million new voters. The Republicans look at mass uncontrolled illegal immigration as a source of cheap labor for their business constituents and look willing to assist the Democrats in importing mass poverty to please a portion of their business constituents. In the years ahead, once the Democrats get all their new foreign born voters on line, what will the Republicans have to look forward to? not much, as the Republicans will have committed long-term political suicide and will be headed for political oblivion.

In the event that this bill to legalize illegal immigration should pass, Red States should challenge the bill immediately as unconstitutional in that it disenfranchises legal American citizens. By definition, illegals are criminals, and should not be allowed to vote even if they are "given" citizenship. I do not believe that Republicans want the "cheap labor" that illegals are supposed to provide. When you check the labor statistics, a very small percentage of California "illegals" work -- most commit crimes, freeload are on welfare, overtax our schools and social services.
They are essentially getting ready to flood the legal US job market with cheap foreign labor by way of a massive amnesty for 11 to 20 million illegal aliens along with a number of so-called "guest worker" programs designed to eliminate most future illegal immigration by essentially legalizing it, by allowing into the USA all manner of foreign workers ranging from farm workers to doctors and nurses who once here will never have to leave the USA.
If that happens, and all those tens of millions of foreign workers can legally work in just about any job across the entire US economy, you can bet that the wages are going to fall in a lot of US industries where those people can now be hired, and where they have never worked in any numbers before, to the severe detriment of a lot of US workers.
Since the vast majority of those people will qualify as minorities in many cases they will be entitled to job preferences that will not be open to the majority of American workers, who will now have to compete for scarce jobs against those foreign workers who are willing to work very cheap, at wages most American workers cannot accept and still maintain their customary US standard of living.
How would you like to be a young black kid just out of high school looking for a job having to compete against all those foreign workers? If this measure passes the Congress his or her chance to get a job will be just about nil. You have to wonder what Congress is thinking when so many millions of Americans cannot even find a job!
So the horde of illegals crossing the southern border were right when they said Barry will make them legal. The cost to us taxpayers, however, will be $4 trillion plus. It´s beyond time to get rid of all the perfumed lifetime peacocks in congress.
I have just e-mailed my senator asking him to move that voting on the 1,500 page immigration bill be delayed for one week to give senators a chance to read and understand it.
I think that all Congresspersons should have to sign a statement under penalty of perjury before voting on anything to the effect that " I have read and fully understand the provisions of the legislation in question."
For the bucks they make and the implications of what they enact, is that too much to ask? We pay the price for their mistakes. Shouldn´t they?
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
A former University of Northern Colorado basketball coach is the man calling himself an “Islamist jihadist” and threatening the demise of Mormons and Catholics at sites across Arizona and Colorado, authorities said Tuesday. Before being spotted by police in Steamboat Springs last week, Christopher Dewitt Craig reportedly made a stop at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz. A spokesman for the institution said he didn’t believe Craig has ties there. On July 10, Craig, 32, reportedly entered a classroom at the college, raised a Bible in the air, asked the instructor whether he was Mormon and followed his response
Wednesday morning the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its Gross Domestic Product estimate for the second quarter of 2013. Though it will surely be revised up or down in the coming months, the number is 1.7%. In the first quarter of this year the GDP was 1.1%, revised down from initial estimates that were as high as 2.5%. The last quarter of 2012 saw the GDP grow only 0.1%. The result of today´s GDP announcement has resulted in almost uniformly positive headlines. Business Insider went with all caps: GDP CRUSHES EXPECTATIONS.
WASHINGTON- Scattered news reports say some restaurants are cutting employee hours or not hiring because of healthcare reform, but U.S. officials say it´s not true. "It turns out restaurants aren´t limiting hours on average -- they´re increasing them and restaurants are hiring at a faster pace than expected. All of which to say that the Affordable Care Act isn´t restraining job growth for restaurants at all," a statement by the White House said. The Obama administration’s interference in Texas’ redistricting and voter-ID litigation does not protect voting rights. It protects the Democratic Party. Recall that just a few months ago, high-ranking Obama operatives launched a campaign to “turn Texas blue.” The administration’s foray into Texas voting rights litigation is just another page in that political playbook. In redistricting, the Obama administration has aligned itself with Democratic state representatives and Democratic members of Congress who already are suing Texas. It is no surprise then that the legal position of President Obama’s attorneys seeks to improve Democratic candidates’ prospects.
A general examination to test eighth grade students in Kentucky´s Bullitt County school system in 1912 has stumped some adults and ignited a debate over the intelligence of children today. The arithmetic, geography, civil government, physiology, grammar and history questions range from ´What is a personal pronoun?´ to ´Who first discovered Lawrence River?´ and ´Define Cerebrum´. Posted on Lew Rockwell, the type-written test has promoted some adults to try and answer the questions, and caused some parents to critique the U.S. school system.
Huma Abedin, the Hillary Clinton loyalist and wife of embattled New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, will reportedly take an "extended vacation" from her job as the chief of staff of Hillary Clinton´s transition team. Politico reports the move is not a formal "leave of absence." “Huma is not taking a leave of absence, but she will be taking vacation time in August to support her family during Anthony’s campaign," a Weiner campaign source told Politico. “She had always intended to do this.” According to Politico, "it was a loose plan she’d had for weeks, since Hillary Clinton
The top state lawmakers in Illinois are suing Gov. Pat Quinn after he halted the salaries of legislators because of their failure to find a solution to the state´s $100 billion pension crisis. House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton, both Democrats, filed the 12-page complaint with the Circuit Court of Cook County Tuesday, calling Quinn´s actions "purely political and unconstitutional." "This matter is of fundamental constitutional importance, as Governor Quinn´s action threatens the independence of each branch of government," Cullerton and Madigan said in a joint news release. "The Illinois Constitution protects the salaries of members
After a long three-year gap since their last exclusive sit-down interview with President Obama, you might think The New York Times would be ready to ask tough questions on the most contentious issues of the day, beginning with the deepening Obama scandals. Wrong. Instead, the Times defined the “news” in this interview to be Obama’s counter-attacks. Their stories focused on Obama’s accusations that (a) the Republicans are liars about Obamacare, (b) the Republicans exaggerate the benefits of building the Keystone XL pipeline, and (c) the Republicans oppose his use of executive power because he has the gall
WASHINGTON — Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain have been asked by President Barack Obama to travel to Egypt next week to urge the military to move ahead on new elections, the senators said Tuesday. Egypt has been roiled by deadly protests since President Mohammed Morsi was toppled in a military coup on July 3, developments that have threatened the $1.5 billion in annual U.S. military and economic aid to the Arab world´s most populous country. Responding to reporters´ questions Tuesday about an attempt to cut off the aid, Graham offered up word that Obama has sought the help
The Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald, the reporter who broke the details revealed by National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden regarding that agency’s information gathering and warehousing practices, was scheduled to testify about those programs before members of Congress. On Tuesday, Greenwald revealed that this informal hearing, organized by Reps. Justin Amash (R-MI) and Alan Grayson (D-FL), has been cancelled. Greenwald, who would have testified via satellite from his residence in Brazil, was going to share his knowledge of the NSA’s surveillance programs before an informal gathering of members of Congress.
WASHINGTON- "Ready for Hillary," a Super PAC backed by Democratic heavyweights, has raised $1 million more than three years before the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has not said she will be running for president, Politico reported. But she is also clearly keeping her options open. Former U.S. Rep. Ellen Tauschner, D-Calif., who has also served in the State Department, is an adviser to the PAC. She said the PAC´s donors are sending a message that Clinton is the one to beat in 2016. "Being a voter is not a passive sport," Tauscher said.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Anthony Weiner may have violated federal law when he failed to disclose his lavish six-figure wedding in his financial disclosure forms, says a government accountability group. Ethics watchdog group National Legal and Policy Center examined the federal Financial Disclosure Reports for both Weiner and long-suffering wife Huma Abedin for 2010, the year of their wedding. The cost for the ceremony was at least $100,000 but probably ran closer to $250,000 including all
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get

Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
