Remember little Anthony Freemont, played by cute little Billy Mumy, in one of the "Twilight Zone´s" most famous episodes? In the opening sequence Rod Serling informs us: "A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines -- because they displeased him -- and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages -- just by using his mind. . . . and the people there have to smile. They have to think happy thoughts and say happy things because once displeased, the monster can wish them into a cornfield
It is truly maddening to attempt to deal with the Left (Progressives, Liberals, Communists, Socialists, Husseiniacs - whatever). There brainwashing has been so very thorough that just the mere encroachment of some fact or truth is an anathema to them so horrible that they must unload the demons of hell upon the offender. Sarah Palin got the full brunt of that kind of treatment and has, for all intents and purposes, destroyed any future political career - over WHAT? Answer - she was the enemy, perceived or otherwise.
Whenever anyone asks, "What has happened to our AMERICA?", show them this superb, MUST READ article.

FTA Political correctness is a tool of tyranny, wielded skillfully by Progressives to silence and render impotent principled objection to the advancement of their cause.
Can no longer have discussions at certain gatherings without being attacked. Ironically, some family members quietly come up to let me know they agree-but it is easier to let the socialists have their way-ostensibly. The silent majority returns. Great article-although I think LittlemAnthony is being played by The Man who Calls Himself Obama.
FTA: political correctness is nothing more than the end of free speech
Perfect. Now, where´s the clip of The Hag in 2004 screeching about how sick and tired she was of people who say that if you debate and disagree with (an) administration, somehow you´re not patriotic...and how we should stand up and say, "We are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!"
Not bragging, just saying, I´ve been using the notion of "banishing to the cornfield" ever since I first saw this ´Twilight Zone´. It´s a great metaphor that has found use over and over in the many decades since.
Maybe I get away with more because I am a woman, but it may be left up to us ladies to be the spokespersons for the conservative right. Here´s how - if our culture is so scared of the "race card," we girls can use the "feminism card." Next time some lib tries to correct your thinking, you give them a big, loud dose of what conservative women think. Let them know that you stand your ground & you will not be disrespected. It has worked for me many times. Then when they disagree - instead of the reflexive comeback, "You´re a racist!" that so effectively shuts up most people, you substitute, "You´re a sexist!" Make their own words sound ridiculous to them. You have to use their tactics against them EVERY time. My SIL proudly calls herself a militant feminist - I made up my own title - militant conservative. Own your opinion & don´t be ashamed of it!
How terribly depressing. There have been many articles written similar to this and they never give advice as to what to do. How do you fight this massive movement that has a huge head start on controlling practically everything in our society? I recently had lunch with an old friend who had worked with me in a law firm many years ago. It got off to a horrible start when I was lamenting the destruction 0bama is causing to our nation, what a dangerous man he is and she didn´t agree. She said she voted for him and when I questioned her about how she could vote for someone like him she refused to even discuss it. After several attempts of me asking why, what do you see in him, etc. She advised me she would not talk about it. Thankfully, after finding common ground in discussing our old friends and some of favorite authors we managed to finish lunch uncomfortably, but I will never contact her again. If you can´t even discuss the problems how do you change their minds? You know this has to be occurring all over this nation. It was beyond frustrating and disturbing. I am at a total loss as to how to get our country back when you can´t even have a reasonable discourse about it.
Let me get this straight. Does this mean that every time we catch BHO or his fawning, groveling sycophants telling another blatant, indisputable, easily provable, America-hating lie, calling attention to it would be our greatest sin of all? Committing Political Incorrectness? Is that what this is all about? Well then, if that’s what this is all about, just give me directions to the cornfield where I’ll be more than pleased and enormously proud to become a resident.
TV’s “Hee-Haw” from Kornfield Kounty used to be one of my favorites. Who knows? Maybe there’ll be non-stop reruns of it. Anyhow, it’d be nice being surrounded by a better class of people, patriotic Americans. Sa-lute!
They want to be constantly affirmed, never challenged, never questioned, never judged.
This is where we as conservatives completely fall short. There are a handful pf people who will stand up to these brutes and speak truth to power, but not enough. Kudos to Sarah Palin and I want to say that continue to support her for her courage.
On the floor of the U.S. Senate, Ted Kennedy ruthlessly went after George W. Bush and accused him of "lie after lie after lie after lie."
Why aren´t we doing this? What keeps holding up back? Are we really that timid? Perhaps, but at some point, we are all going to have to speak up and challenge these juvenile tyrants or we will suffer.
You cannot "freeze, isolate, and ridicule" a monster like: "Progressive Ideologues". You must say his name: "Barack Obama" is the monster behind this. Because he is the Figurehead Monster behind this, isn´t he? When you journalist-speak of the Gosnell Partial Abortion case, and how Gosnell is a Monster, and how this story must break anyone´s heart, you must say: "Barack Obama supports partial birth abortion." If you are trying to kill the monster. You cannot just wound him. You have to kill him, republicans. Aye, there´s the rub for republicans. Putting him down. Notice the MSM does not cover Gosnell because they would look insane covering a Monster. And yet he is a Monster who is only doing exactly what the democrat figurehead willfully supports. There is no spin sufficient to absolve anyone of this "monstrosity." So they do not try, and they do not what you to know what partial birth abortion is, knowing it would attach to Obama somewhere. It is something to answer for the in the Next Life. But you are responsible for the soul of children in your generation. You must must speak up clearly, even if they will not. It is one matter to discuss dead babies, taken alive from their mothers wombs, only to have their spines snipped, and their skull hacked into with scissors, and their brains vacuumed out. It is another to say Obama knows about this and supports it, and directly or indirectly so does anyone who supports Obama. Deep down this is something no human can support, and that is the deal with the devil among other deals made by anyone who supports Obama. Just publish a "Must Read" article that slants "Obama supports the monstrosity of partial birth abortion. Can you still support Obama?"
We are seeing the immature viciousness of the Far Left. Those Democrats I know, the old-fashioned kind who just wanted the government to do its best to help the unfortunate, now grow very VERY silent if any kind of political topic comes up. They know the Far Left is quite wrong...but they don´t want to desert their ideals.... especially the Obama voters.
The Electorate has to grow up and face facts. Economic pain will do that...but sufficient economic pain in the case of the misguided Democrats may not come in time.
....I am told that a full 40% of regular Church going fellow Catholics voted at least once for Obama. I will accept that as a fact and be profoundly saddened---and angry---as a result. Shame on Cardinal Dolan for giving Biden Communion---I, for one, think it was a scandalous happening at the installation of Pope Francis and would love to hear Cardinal Dolan´s defense. So would Little Anthony, I suppose...
Sometimes the truth hurts. To my mind the truth is that George W Bush created much of the basis for the Left´s successful diatribes against Conservatives. What if there had been no George Bush presidency? There would be no paper tiger to eternally hold up as "the cause" for just about everyting that goes wrong in America. What if a true conservative had een elected? What if? I know... Who could ever "know". Personally, I never believed GWB was ever qualified to be president. As I do not believe that BHO was ever qualified to be President. And I do not in any way mean to equate GWB´s non-qalifications with those non-qualifications of BHO. I believe at heart GWB was a good man with good intentions. It never made him presidential material. On the other hand BHO has absolutely no objective redeeming qualities. Next time around true conseratives need to get back to basics. I truly believe that most of Americans now crave it.
America has been sent to the cornfield by the "progressives" and their god-man Barack Fremont. Political correctness is their weapon of choice to eliminate opposition, and they know that pushing guilt buttons and disguising it as a demand for "civility" effectively subdues the hapless GOP townsfolk fearfully facing this monster.
Exceptional piece of writing, with an exceptional understanding of the threat from the Left - they won´t stop until freedom of speech is entirely crushed under their boot. In the Twilight Zone episode, it is Anthony who needs elimination, but "progressives" demand we "work with" him, "understand" him, and embrace his "good intentions" in a big, fraudulent group hug. Right before he condemns another American freedom, his enemy of enemies, to the cornfield.
RUSH: Let´s go to the audio sound bites. The gross domestic product number is out. And, by the way, I don´t know what this is. There´s a new way of measuring the GDP. The Obama administration is measuring it in an entirely different way, which is showing growth. The standard measure of gross domestic product is showing flat. But this new measure, which the media is applauding and loving, is showing a growth rate of 1.7%, and it´s being hailed. The stock market earlier today was having a pretty good day.
RUSH: In one hour, we´re gonna have Utah Senator Mike Lee on the program to explain in detail and in an understandable way what he´s trying to do. As you know, Mike Lee is leading the effort to defund Obamacare in the United States Senate. The entire Republican establishment has aligned against him. Consultants, establishment bigwigs, party bigwigs, even some donors have aligned against him because they are convinced that attempting to defund Obamacare at the next negotiation, the end of September, on a continuing resolution will lead to a government shutdown,
RUSH: Here´s Brad in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It´s great to have you on the EIB Network. Hi. CALLER: Mega dittos, Mr. Limbaugh. A pleasure to speak to you. I told your call screener there that I am an attorney. I teach law. I´m a former public official and a Republican, and I advise my clients and my students, "You can´t take legal advice from the people across the table. They´re going to give advice, obviously, that is in favor of their position." RUSH: Exactly. CALLER: That sounds so obvious, why even say that, right?
IRS-Gate: From stonewalling Congress to Federal Election Commission collusion to harassment of already-tax-exempt conservative groups, the IRS scandal metastasizes. Someone high-up was clearly giving orders. ´Phony scandals," to use President Obama´s term, should not generate near-daily news coverage from a media that would like nothing better than to see its dream president let off the hook. Yet everywhere you look comes another bolt of lightning keeping this Frankenstein monster "alive!": • In addition to conservative organizations being ultra-scrutinized in applying for tax-exempt status, existing conservative groups like Morton Blackwell´s Leadership Institute, around since 1979, and the
So why did the French Revolution — initially premised on the ideas of liberty, equality and fraternity — come to be defined by the guillotine, regicide, rivers of blood and the Reign of Terror? To reveal a common historic error, the revolution didn´t start pristine and somehow get hijacked by the likes of Maximilien de Robespierre. He and his notorious Committee of Public Safety ruled through terror and systematically beheaded thousands at the guillotine. The violence was there from the very start, in the bloodcurdling words of the revolution´s propagandists — journalists, pamphleteers and writers, some of whom
The good news is that the Commerce Department´s second-quarter GDP report shows that the U.S. is richer and the economy larger than previously believed. The bad news is that this has nothing to do with anything that has happened lately, and certainly not in the last nine months. The current not-so-great economic recovery trudges on. *** Wednesday´s second quarter report is especially interesting because it includes economic revisions based on new assumptions that re-measure the size of the U.S. economy going back to 1929. The Bureau of Economic Analysis does this every five years or so,
Graft: The relationship between the Clintons and the wife of embattled Anthony Weiner grows curiouser and curiouser. Forget sexting; this may be the real scandal. And one senator sees a possible criminal element to it. Republican Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is demanding documents from the State Department shedding more light on the private consulting work that Huma Abedin, aka Mrs. Weiner, performed while working for the government, where she had access to top secret information. Abedin served as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton´s deputy chief of staff, where she earned $135,000 a year.
If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But
President Obama promised to mend the failings in the American health-care system, and yet for cancer treatment, ObamaCare is taking a rotten feature of the old system and making it worse. The Affordable Care Act expands a program called 340B, which siphons money from drug makers and insurers to subsidize certain hospitals. The program has been expanded as a way to offset some of the cuts that the law imposes on hospitals. One significant side effect: 340B is increasing the cost of cancer care—and harming its quality. When the program began in 1992, its aim was to support
Most Americans would agree that academic freedom is a sacred right of the academy and crucial to the American experiment in democracy. But what is it really? That´s the question raised by the Associated Press´s July 16 release of emails between Mitch Daniels, when he was the governor of Indiana, and his staff concerning Howard Zinn´s "A People´s History of the United States." The emails were written in 2010 and Mr. Daniels, whose second term as governor ended this January, is now president of Purdue University in Indiana. Published in 1980, Zinn´s "A People´s History"
Fiscal Policy: President Obama has proposed a "grand bargain" with Republicans: They get a tax cut for corporations, he gets more money to spend on worthless government stimulus. That´s no bargain — that´s surrender. In the latest attempt by Democrats to disguise GOP capitulation as centrist "compromise," Obama said he´ll sign off on a cut in the corporate tax rate from 35% to 28% — with an even lower rate of 25% for manufacturers — if Republicans will agree to spend more on Obama´s "investments" and OK a tax hike on U.S. companies doing business overseas.
In Chattanooga on Tuesday, the latest stop on his economic inequality tour, President Obama made himself an offer he couldn´t refuse. If Congressional Republicans agree to a corporate tax increase, he said, then he´ll agree to spend more money on his favorite public-works projects. If Republicans bargain hard, will he also offer an expansion of ObamaCare as a sweetener? We know this sounds like an exaggeration, but that´s the essence of what the President proposed as what he called a new "grand bargain." Mr. Obama will agree to reform the corporate tax code—a GOP priority and one
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. The 400 indigenous Inuit inhabitants of Kivalina, who live
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
I never thought the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case deserved nearly the attention it got. But reasonable people can disagree about that. What strikes me as unconscionable, however, is the way the supposedly objective media have not only sensationalized a tragedy but at times appear to deliberately bend the facts to fit a desired story line. Maybe it started with the use of pictures of a younger Martin or with the sudden embrace of the term "white Hispanic" to describe Zimmerman in order to more easily paint him as a racist. NBC News was the most egregious offender
