Where’s OFA? The pro-amnesty rally in front of the U.S. Capitol was described as “massive” on my local NPR station even before it had taken place. Here is an NBC newscast with a pretty good photo-not an up-close photo, but one that lets you gauge the size of the crowd. It’s not massive! It’s not even very large. I’d say 10,000 or fewer. Obama’s new high-tech political machine, Organizing for Action, doesn’t seem to have played a huge role in the rally. It declared a “week of action” on immigration, but that was last week. (You missed it?) .

Pravda NPR announcing their desired news before it happens just goes to show you how far the drive-by networks have sunk. Goebbels would be so proud.

Snake handlers give some

There’s a fair amount of snark online Monday about Jamie Coots, the Pentecostal pastor and reality-TV star who was fatally bitten by a snake he was handling in over-literal adherence to Luke 10:19. ("Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”) An atheist website offered this tasteless observation: “Pentecostal preachers are among the most poisonous creatures on Earth, but every once in while they bump into things even more venomous.” But even fellow Christians are finding fault with Coot for misinterpreting Scripture

As speculation that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will run for President in 2016 heats up, the question that must be asked is: Hillary 2016, prison or POTUS? Recently, the Washington Free Beacon reported on statements found in archival documents by one of Hillary Clinton’s closest friends, Diane Blair, painting a portrait of Hillary as a ruthless First Lady. Without question ruthless is an accurate description except not only is Hillary ruthless, she is lawless. As former civil servant Linda Tripp of Bill Clinton’s impeachment fame recounted to this journalist during the Clintons’ last year in the White House, Hillary was behind

On Fox News Sunday Senator Mike Lee debated Representative Xavier Becerra over the president’s repeated lawless acts related to the Affordable Care Act. (Mr. Obama has unilaterally changed or delayed the ACA 24 times without seeking the approval of Congress.) It was a rout, with Senator Lee blowing apart the argument offered up by Representative Becerra. The Democrat from California was misleading in his claims. He ducked the questions asked by host Chris Wallace and kept reverting to pabulum and talking points. Senator Lee, on the other hand, was terrific. His answers were crisp, direct, and articulate. He was principled without coming

Freshman Senator Ted Cruz says many things that need to be said and says them well. Moreover, some of these things are what many, if not most, Americans believe wholeheartedly. Yet we need to remember that the same was true of another freshman Senator, just a relatively few years ago, who parlayed his ability to say things that resonated with the voters into two terms in the White House. Who would disagree that if you want your doctor, you should be able to keep your doctor? Who would disagree with the idea of a more transparent administration in Washington, or

CARACAS, Venezuela — President Nicolas Maduro´s government on Monday gave three U.S. Embassy officials 48 hours to leave the country, accusing the Obama administration of siding with student protesters that Venezuela accuses of inciting violence. The announcement by Foreign Minister Elias Jaua came amid fears that renewed clashes could erupt Tuesday when both pro- and anti-government activists hold demonstrations in the capital. Jaua said the senior U.S. consular officers were trying to infiltrate Venezuelan universities, the hotbed of the recent unrest, under the cover of doing visa outreach. Repeating charges by Maduro, who has expelled American diplomats twice before, Jaua said the

A tipster tried to warn the Labor Department in 2011 that its unemployment statistics were being fabricated by the people at the Census Bureau who compile the data. But the warning was either missed or ignored by Labor. That allegedly allowed the data falsification to go on for years. As I’ve been telling you, the falsification is now the subject of a number of investigations, including one by the House Oversight Committee and Congress’ Joint Economic Committee. Also investigating is the Office of the Inspector General at the Commerce Department, which is in charge of Census. And I’m hearing that the US Attorney in

The U.S. government long considered its collection of Americans´ call records to be a state secret. Now the Director of National Intelligence admits it would have been better if Washington had acknowledged the surveillance in the first place. Even the head of the U.S. intelligence community now believes that its collection and storage of millions of call records was kept too secret for too long. The American public and most members of Congress were kept in the dark for years about a secret U.S. program to collect and store such records of American citizens on a massive scale. The government’s legal

Barack Obama’s Paragraph

The American political system is designed to make presidents seem important. They pick their teams, their goals, their fights—and if they do these things skillfully enough, we say they’ve made history. This is what Barack Obama seems to mean by getting his “paragraph right.” Yet most of the choices that presidents make are defined by circumstance. Some things they might like to do are impossible; many successes fall into their laps; some setbacks are not their fault. Our leaders can pick many things, but not their moment in history. Obama partisans make this point incessantly. Consider, they urge, the terrible

Sen. John Cornyn is a principled lawmaker whose brand of Texas conservatism makes him the best choice in this eight-way GOP primary race for the Senate. Cornyn is the deputy GOP Senate leader and a senior Republican on the Judiciary Committee. Holding these positions of influence can only bode well for Texas. This law, the affordable care act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that. Once again, bitter feelings are being cast in the direction of Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. With the House passing the “clean” debt ceiling bill and sending it to the Democratic-controlled Senate, it was clear that this particular bill was going to be passed and sent to the president for his signature. But Cruz didn´t want to let Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., off the hook and give President Obama a blank check to once again increase the debt ceiling as we are drowning in red ink. He didn't want Republicans to simply vote against the bill, hiding behind the Democrat majority who were sure to pass it.
