A new CNN/ORC International poll found President Obama´s overall approval rating has ticked up to 51 percent but ratings have fallen on his handling of the key issues on his agenda: immigration, guns, and the deficit. On immigration, 44 percent approve of the way he is handling the issue, down from 51 percent in January. At the same time, disapproval has jumped to 50 percent, up from 43 percent in January. On guns, 45 percent approve and 52 percent disapprove, the poll found. In January, 46 percent approved and 49 percent dispproved. And on the deficit, 38 percent approve
On a thread down the page I opined that he is in over his head. Aka underwater. A campaigner, not a leader. I wonder if he feels the appropriate fear re his obvious incompetence to deal with his position and its enormous responsibilities?
Naah. He´ll weasel out of it. A catch in his voice, a strategic sob, a well-placed bribe, a convincing limp, sinking three straight jump shots. They voted him in twice. He´ll be back on top, sneering and gloating.
What does the 51% Obama approval rating say about the character of what the American people have become: disability-fakers, moochers, racists, life-style dysfunctional, gaming-obsessed, sports obsessed, looters, deviants, sex-obsessed, phone-obsessed, self-esteem-obsessed, the list goes on ... That 51%? : the "Ingratest Generation".
Limbaugh theory, people simply don´t associate the country´s failures with Obama personally. The country´s problems are some for of an act of God which Obama has no control over. You have to have a pretty good grasp of the inner workings of Obama to know why he´s failing and none of that knowledge is available in the MSM. We sit here and scoff at Obama´s vacations and golf but these are the type things he does to earn the admiration of the lofos who think all this stuff is cool.. The reason is the school system hasn´t taught them what the decency of the office stands for. There´s no historical reference to compare Obama to.
ticked up to 51% i need more coffee and someone needs to spend some of our tax dollars on studying the AMERICAN BRAIN....good grief....we´re so hosed...ignorance is abundant......wake up fools..this man is a fake and a user.......it is just mindboggling
I spent 6 years working in south Chicago, in the projects (3 years longer than our President) and I can tell you this is exactly the way the system works. Lots of talk, lots of organizational meetings, lots of social activities to raise awareness, lots of fund raising, no action, I returned to Texas to warm up and clear my head. Oh, my pension fund from the organization I w orked for was stripped clean and now is run by the government! Sound familiar?
Polls are the vehicle of choice used by this regime to form public opinion, not to report public opinion. The progressives will use every means they have to protect Obama and poll manipulation is very effective.
So his approval rating goes UP, while individual components (e.g., Guns, taxes) go down??? ! The data really do support the Limbaugh theorem--- [perceived} likeability has an oversized impact on job approval. This is not new. George W. Bush, early on his term, benefited from the same phenomenon. W. was perceived as likeable-- the kind of guy you could have a beer with--but his policies were mostly underwater. He got a boost on all dimensions after 9/11 and early on in Iraq, but when he was perceived as lying about WMD, his likeability plummetted, and no matter what he did (successful surge) his policies were hated by everyone but the neocons. He was well on his way to the low 30´s even before the fiscal crisis hit. Someday Obama´s likeability will tank, and so will his job approval. Count on it.
#13 has it pretty well pegged. Obama is in permanent Community Organizer mode. He´s continually fighting the "establishment" on behalf of the aggrieved. Pick your group. Virtually everyone except white Conservatives. In this episode our caped crusader is fighting to bring justice to the Sandy Hook victims´ families and the huddled immigrants. Of course he´s not sincere but this is why he´s never blamed for the nation´s ills. He´s too busy organizing, partying and playing to have time to govern.
I find it interesting that no matter what he does or doesn´t do, his poll numbers never dip lower than about 47%. As soon as they do get down that far, they magically pop right back up to 51%. Fascinating, isn´t it?
How in the heck did this idiot get re-elected? Just enough voter fraud as to NOT raise suspicion. Blacks in Ohio are saying they voted from 6 to 8 times for him and NOONE is questioning the election? C´mon people raise a stink and impeach this clown.
I have so much to say, but I have to make short - comments and such. We need to make ourselves aware that we are against new world state monopoly capitalism. Of course, big honchos, like buffet, gates, zuckerberg (I type those names with utter disgust) want to be REAL capitalists, but because they can´t, they agree with the role of directors of the (almost) state businesses. The politicians, being sick sadists, rule the country and have "capitalists" in their pockets. And it seems that "little people" are fine with that. Because there is no real political opposition do we expect any changes? Dems (former combination of fascists and commies) have control over media, education, banks, and many industries because of state monopoly model and where are the repubics? Nowhere!
And yet he keeps on plowing ahead, unlike republicans when they get into power. They react to every poll. Obama keeps on keeping on. Just like he did with Obamacare, illegal aliens, gay marriage and you name it - all which were unpopular.
In modern times we no longer have a government run by thoughtful people. All politics are now run by the latest poll. And as we here all know. any and all polls can easily be construed to show just what the pollster wants to show. I personally don´t believe in ANY poll. For any question that can be asked, there are probable several ways to answer it. Unlike a math problem, there is no exact answer. just someone´s "feelings" at any given moment it time.
I agree with #13 as well. In addition, GW did not lie about WMDs. He merely passed on what the intelligence people gave him. I don´t think they were wrong either. We are going to find Sadam´s stash in Syria.
What really gets me is 0 can lie like a rug over and over again and no one will call him on it. Well I will. "Barack Hussein Obama you are a liar!"
A) An illegal alien skinny punk choom-smoking coke-snorting transcripts-hiding over his pay-grade "57 states" "My Muslim religion" President who lies constantly? B)A demented idiot "Stand up Chuck!" VP who rarely knows where he is and lies all the time? C)A populace where 51% are ignorant low information text-crazed morons into the talk shows, the dancing shows, the late-night crap, and who believe all the lies and blame whitey? D)A press full of liars, lefties, deviants, lap dogs, and rump swabs who adore ther messiah and his knucklehead sidekick?
What do you do? Any answers? I know what I´d like to do, but to say it here in this fine salon would surely get me crucified!
#27 - I am #23 and I am completely with you on that. Like I said, I have plenty to say, but frankly I am becoming more and more afraid to say it! Adding to you: we, $chmucks, are even afraid to organize peaceful protest, be it on the local level, when for instance, our garbage collectors in CA Bay Area, went on strike in "solidarity" with whatever happened 5 thousand miles away, in Ohio, or on America´s level, when we are screwed by government over and over again!
Truly, what difference does this make? Who cares what any poll says? Whether Zero´s numbers are up or down. He´s in office for another 3.5 years. The election is over. He was re-elected. The enormous damage of that day has been done with lots more to come over the next years. Really, these articles on his supposed numbers are of no use. We are stuck with him.
#2, Agree completely. Forget the popularity polls. We need to know the Bamboozle Factor of the week., I.E. how well is his BS selling this week, and what adjustments to his BS is he making to improve his Bamboozle Factor? He´s fooled this hapless country twice, so I put nothing beyond him, the master of the Big Lie, the false choice, the straw man, the umbrage, the well placed catch in the throat, the ´´reasonableness´´, the ´´common sense´´, the ´´balanced approach´´, .... Ah, the Bamboozlement!!!
In a corrupt Nation, polls are determined by whoever takes them and elections are determined by whoever counts the votes or hacks the machines.
We don´t even have anybody willing to fight back. Our elected Republicans Representatives, for the most part, just want to get along and keep whatever little bit of power the Dems let them have. It´s pathetic.
One more thought: A long time ago somebody said, and I can´t remember who, "The more corrupt a Nation, the more numerous the laws." By that measure, we are in deep dodo.
SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Forget about setting up those kegs or buffet tables in the parking lot before this season´s Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium. There will be no tailgating, according to the game´s committee CEO, Al Kelly. "You will be allowed to have food in your car and have drink in your car," Kelly said. "And provided you´re in the boundaries of a single parking space, you´ll be able to eat or drink right next to your car. However, you´re not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you´re not going to be able to take out
One of Congress‘ staunchest critics of Obamacare released a report Monday that cheers on legal challenges to the overhaul and says the White House overstepped its authority by delaying aspects of the law. Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican who helped engineer a lengthy government funding stalemate earlier this year in a bid to block money for the new health care law, said many aspects of the Affordable Care Act are “constitutionally or statutorily suspect” and that the entire law should be repealed. While a repeal is unlikely so long as Democrats control the Senate and White House, Mr. Cruz said
The nation’s new health-care law says insurers can’t turn anyone away, even people who are sick. But some companies, patient advocates say, have found a way to discourage the chronically ill from enrolling in their plans: offer drug coverage too skimpy for those with expensive conditions. Some plans sold on the online insurance exchanges, for instance, don’t cover key medications for HIV, or they require patients to pay as much as 50 percent of the cost per prescription in co-insurance — sometimes more than $1,000 a month. “The fear is that they are putting discriminatory plan designs into place to
There’s nothing like a communal flight with the current president of the United States and his predecessor to make the press miss the days of a communicative commander in chief. George W. and Laura Bush joined the Obamas on Air Force One en route to Johannesburg, South Africa, for a Nelson Mandela memorial service. Hillary Clinton was also on board, with Bill and Chelsea coming to the service from a Clinton Global Initiative event in Rio. The Obamas have stayed in their cabin for the flight, according to the White House pool report from the refueling stop in Senegal, while
The raft of stories over the last week, the latest being today’s piece in Business Insider, about Democratic Party infighting has nicely illustrated something conservatives have known for a while. Complaints over the last few years about the GOP being pulled to the right by conservatives were not about liberals’ desire to meet in the middle and compromise, no matter how much they might decry the supposed extremist drift of the right. What they wanted was their very own Tea Party. It was the same with Occupy Wall Street: the pseudoanarchist gatherings were far more violent than Tea Party protests
The federal government announced today that it has sold the last of its General Motors stock, about 31.1 million shares or 2 percent of the company, ultimately losing about $10.5 billion on the original investment. The government once owned 912 million shares, or 60.8 percent of GM, which it received in return for the $49.5 billion bailout given to the auto manufacturer during the financial crisis of 2008–09. GM’s stock rose about 1.8 percent, or 73 cents, on the news today. GM’s North American president, Mark Reuss, said that he expects GM sales, especially of pickup trucks, to rise once
House and Senate negotiators were putting the finishing touches Sunday on what would be the first successful budget accord since 2011, when the battle over a soaring national debt first paralyzed Washington. The deal expected to be sealed this week on Capitol Hill would not significantly reduce the debt, now $17.3 trillion and rising. It would not close corporate tax loopholes or reform expensive health-care and retirement programs. It would not even fully replace sharp spending cuts known as the sequester, the negotiators’ primary target. After more than two years of constant crisis, the emerging agreement amounts to little more
The sequester, no matter how imperfect a policy, is arguably the only victory for fiscal conservatives in a very long time. Their victory is also president Obama’s biggest defeat (outside of the self-inflicted disastrous Obamacare rollout). It is also another opportunity to remind the American people that the alarmist predictions that we were all subjected to about the devastating impact sequestration would have on our economy didn’t materialize. Yet, in a new move, Republicans are once again considering caving to Democrats and getting rid of the spending cuts. This morning’s Wall Street Journal has the following. Still, officials close to
President Obama’s repeated use of presidential powers is causing a tough problem — his own supporters now expect him to use it to achieve everything they want. From immigration to the minimum wage, congressional Democrats and liberal activists this week urged Mr. Obama to declare an end run around Capitol Hill, assert executive authority and make as much progress as he can on the expansive agenda he laid out for his second term. A day after Mr. Obama denounced income inequality, progressive lawmakers said he should take the lead by issuing an executive order requiring all federal contractors to pay
Three crises, one president, many bewildered friends. The first crisis, barely noticed here, is Ukraine’s sudden turn away from Europe and back to the Russian embrace. After years of negotiations for a major trading agreement with the European Union, Ukraine succumbed to characteristically blunt and brutal economic threats from Russia and abruptly walked away. Ukraine is instead considering joining the Moscow-centered Customs Union with Russia’s fellow dictatorships Belarus and Kazakhstan. This is no trivial matter. Ukraine is not just the largest European country, it’s the linchpin for Vladimir Putin’s dream of a renewed imperial Russia, hegemonic in its neighborhood and
Entering his sophomore year at Occidental College, Barack Obama sought a political movement to match his personal awakening, which he signaled to friends and family at the time by reclaiming his African first name. Barry became Barack that year. He had read Du Bois, Fanon, Malcolm X — an array of authors writing about the black struggle for liberation in his country and in others shaking off the legacy of colonial rule around the world. That is where he looked for — and found — a figure and a cause to channel his rising political enthusiasm: Nelson Mandela, then imprisoned
I´m generally for more disclosure in campaign finance, but the best argument against requiring full disclosure by groups engaged in political speech is that politicians sometimes retaliate against their critics. Sen. Elizabeth Warren inadvertently made that very argument this week. As told by Ben White at Politico, a group called "Third Way" criticized Warren. Warren apparently suspected that Third Way´s criticism of her was funded by banks. So she wrote a letter to bank CEOs demanding they disclose which political groups they´re funding. Warren sits on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. She´s basically telling the entities
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the
All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
