Immigration proposal could be delayed
Washington Post, by David Nakamura

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 4/7/2013 9:28:48 PM

A bipartisan Senate group on immigration legislation is attempting to craft an agreement so secure that the eight members will oppose amendments to its core provisions, an arrangement that could delay the introduction of a bill, people familiar with the negotiations said. (Snip) Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he hopes a deal can be reached “in the next couple of weeks.” A GOP Senate aide involved in the negotiations said a deal is unlikely this week because writing the bill, which is expected to be up to 1,500 pages, is going slowly.

Comments:
This morning, Shummer said it would be done by the end of the week. Now, we are saying this is a 1,500 page bill. What takes up so much trees and will our people read it all on Capitol Hill, should it sadly make it there? With North Korea & Iran threatening nukes, this is not important right now.

No way, a 1,500 page bill will have all the Demonrat carve-outs and more theft from the American taxpayer. Every time I hear the traitors MissLindsey and McPain make comments, it makes my teeth ache. We should never trust these 2 Stooges.

There they go again. Another 1500 page piece of garbage that has to be passed so we can see what`s in it. This is traitorous behavior by anyone who would vote for something like this. McCain and Graham need to `come out` as democrats and get it over with.

What could possibly be in 1500 pages to legalize illegals? I suspect everything in the bill will be ignored except `full amnesty` an anything that will create more govn agencies and depts that help the illegal become legal. The federal govn can`t even handle those who got in line to do it properly so how will they deal with millions of new `legal`s` other than to hire thousands more workers to process them as Obsmacare is hiring thousands of `navigators` to help peeps fill out healthcare forms...

Demand an hour of debate per page. Better yet, float 4 different approaches on the floor of the Senate and then have a final chance vote if any idea gets more than 30 votes.

Why would the Republican majority want to grant amnesty to 11,000,000 new Democrat voters???

I don´t like anointing 8 insiders to horse-trade away US citizenship.

I don´t like that the pols created the present horrible situation, and are now hand-wringing and saying "Gee, somehow 20 million illegals popped up here and there just isn´t any way to change that. So shut up, America."

I can´t believe [just an expression], after the 2,700-page Obamacare disaster, that a 1,500-pager could have any hope, period.

Yeah. "Throw ´em all out."

Robert D. Marcus became chief executive of Time Warner Cable at the start of the year. Less than two months later, he agreed to sell the company to its largest rival, Comcast, for $45 billion. For that work, he will receive nearly $80 million if the deal closes, a severance payment that amounts to more than $1 million a day for the six weeks he ran the company before agreeing to sell. “It’s not unprecedented, but it is rare and troubling,” said Robert Jackson Jr., an associate professor at Columbia Law School. “There’s something stunning about such big paydays for such a small amount of work.”

Topeka, Kan. - The Rev. Chicago - Illinois´ Supreme Court declared one of the nation´s toughest eavesdropping laws unconstitutional, saying Thursday that the statute was so overly broad that it would technically make the recording of screaming fans at a football game a crime. The ruling is a final and decisive defeat for the Illinois Eavesdropping Act, which had made it a felony for someone to record conversations unless all parties involved agreed. The 1961 law violates free speech and due process protections, and is way too broad in scope, the court decided in unanimous decisions in two related cases focused on audio recordings.

Black children represent about 18 percent of children in preschool programs in schools, but they make up almost half of the preschoolers who are suspended more than once, the report said.
